@@cragerzz It got a lot of complaints. When it first started and Taker was speaking in tongues & doing sacrifices, many Religious groups complained about the offensiveness of it. And I think parents had complaints on the scariness of it. Far as just fans, I have seen many who felt uneasy at it because Taker came off as a sexual predator & pervert early on where he's stalking Stephanie, having pix taken of her, sending her some kind of pictures (of what, Lord knows! lol), then kidnapping Ryan, keeping her in the boiler room for a week and saying that she'll have to do until he gets Stephanie whom he can feel any time he touches her. Then it's questioned if he raped either one of them. So there was some controversy around Ministry Taker because he got watered down in the Corporation.

Oh thank you so much for uploading this one, the Ministry era is my second all time favourite after the Lord of Darkness 1997-1998 era. This was definitely the Undertaker at his darkest, everything about this look screamed pure evil. From the hooded robe to the long devilish goatee with the slicked back long platted hair to the giant spiked cape from Wrestlemania 15, he looked like a living satan and combine the creepy music with his promos, they were like something out of a dark fantasy horror movie. They were unbelievable and really made you listen, he was a true monster heel even though he was still getting massive pops from fans. I loved the Ministry of Darkness faction, everyone had a role and they all played their characters perfectly, the Acolytes were great as the 'hell's henchman' who delivered the beatdowns, Viscera was awesome as the giant enforcer, the Brood's vampire gimmick was a perfect fit for Taker's satanic persona, Mideon was creepy and Paul Bearer was amazing as always as the manager. Thank you for uploading this and I look forward to more undertaker videos from you. Keep up the good work
"Tonight, I speak of prophecy And what I will shall be done The sacrifices are not over The next sacrificial lamb will be led... to slaughter So until we meet again, accept the lord of darkness as your savior. Allow to the purity of evil to guide you" Favorite Undertaker.

Wow. Beautifully done. This was The Undertaker's last great persona before the next 2 decades happened. The Mideon sacrifice was definitely an "I can't believe they went there" moment. At 14:28, the silhouette of the black background underneath the T of the throne makes it appear as if The Undertaker has wings- the dark angel incarnate. Stephanie was a great actress back then. She sold her fear extremely well. Her transformation from the girl next door to who she is today is interesting. Her current persona could have easily been a member of The Ministry. Lita &/or Victoria would have made excellent female Ministry members. The limo moment with The Undertaker kidnapping Stephanie was borrowed a bit from the Phantasm movies. I'm sure Ron never thought he'd be working as a mid-carder under Mark one day, thinking back to their NWA days. The Ministry lineup was odd & surreal. Kinda wish both Godwinn's had gone in instead of Viscera.
I don't know. It sounded like I accidentally stumbled on Jimmy Hart's cover of the MOD theme, and then, suddenly, some guy started to sing in my toilet...
This is probably my favorite iteration of the Undertaker. His entrance theme goes HARD and his whole attitude and gimmick during this time was dark and sinister
1998-2001 was the greatest 3 year span in the WWE/WWF's history, during this time you had three main guys who were all at the peaks of their wrestling careers. Stone Cold, The Rock, and The Undertaker. This is the era that Taker went from being a main draw, to being THE DRAW on the card. It was the absolute best gimmick, at the best time, for the perfect performer. This is when Taker went from being the Deadman, to being the Phenom. The best of the best. It will never be this good again, and I am so appreciative of the fact I got to experience every minute of it. Good times
I was at that ss. Taker autographed ticket stub for my little cousin. Couldn't have been any nicer. As he stayed in kayfabe. He still signed. It was awesome. Thanks mark.
The Ministry of Darkness is definitely the most intimidating faction ever in history. The size, strength, tattoos and the hair rising dark theme was prefect.
Taker best years 98-99 height of the attitude era his music promos he was his scariest and biggest body wise ministry of darkness was awesome I really wish he would end his career doing a throwback to this time
I can honestly say I cheered for Taker more as a heel cause to me this is what the gimmick was essentially building up to, the ultimate evil. The music slayed, the satanic theme was on point and Taker looked like one of the Cenobites from Hellraiser, fuckin genius!!!
I guess you can say that the Undertaker is the embodiment of Resident Evil. I can't wait hopefully for Undertaker to be in a future RE game, even if it is Resident Evil 9 with Rosemary Winters, now that would be a dream chemistry, now wouldn't it?
Jackyl would’ve been great as the higher power instead of Vince and it was a loss for WWE Bc by the time it was revealed that Vince was behind everything the Undertaker did just for the sole purpose of screwing Steve Austin people lost interest and it was a gain for ECW as Jackyl aka Cyrus became Joey Styles’ heel counterpart and it led to the whole Network storyline which was good
clay baxter oh hell yeah like how he talked down to Styles and Gertner for being from New York at the Hammerstein Ballroom until Paul E hit him in the head with his telephone. That promo was epic and the crowd was heated.
My personal opinion on Vince as the Higher Power: Not the best call... Jackyl, Roberts, whatever probably would've been a more interesting idea... or maybe Kevin Sullivan if WWF could've gotten a hold of him. On the other hand, I also have to say that Mr. McMahon would have never reached the level of despicability as he did without "IT'S ME, AUSTIN! IT'S ME, AUSTIN! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, AUSTIN!" It took Vince from being just a massive asshole with too much power and a vindictive streak that you loved to hate... to being this utterly despiciable being that would stop at nothing, would stoop to any low to get one over his rivals.
I remember this Ministry vs Corporation feud as one that there was a "super" heel and more of a tweener, with Ministry being a super heel (legit scary to my 12 year old self and my 10 year old brother), while the Corporation were heels, but more your old school heel. This was definitely my favorite time to be a WWF fan. To me, the start of Undertaker's Prince of Darkness character was when WWF was starting to pass WCW. Before, I was turning into both simultaneously, from St Valentine's Day Massacre and on, I'd be watching Raw and only Raw. All my friends at school had done the same. Nobody seemed to care about WCW anymore. It's surprising to me that it took all the way to Mick Foley winning the championship for them to actually pass WCW in the ratings. The only thing I can attribute this to is the older fans still tuning into WCW.
Remember when the ministry taker did a really cool promo for movies on the USA network I think it was called movies with deadman something like that but it was cool to see after raw I can’t remember the year
I never fully understood how they were able to hang Big Boss Man without actually killing him. I definitely looked like a real hanging to me when I first saw it.
Boss Man was wearing a harness under his clothes and he was raised with it. The rope around his neck was just a "necklace" of sorts and it wasnt actually connected with the main rope itself. Boss Man was actually holding his breath tho. Thats why he was looking like he was chocking.
I think the thing I liked best about this whole era were the amount of guys that got face time. I actually cared about pretty much everybody involved in this storyline. Kane, Austin, the Brood, the Corporation, the ministry, so many good characters were involved.
I think Shamrock would've made for a good replacement for Bossman. Afterall, Shamrock was an upper mid-card guy that was booked consistently like a badass so he could be seen as a realistic threat to the undertaker. Plus, he was McMahon's heavy at the time along with Bossman. It would've been cool to see Shamrock involved in more high profile matches.
I just tuned into the attitude era around Feb 99 after dropping wrestling mid way through 96, and seeing Taker like this blew my mind but seemed an absolutely suitable progression for the character to go
The Lord of Darkness was definitely my favorite UNDERTAKER Persona they used Taker Lord of Darkness Persona to rebuild & build other wrestlers career he gave mideon by sacrificing Dennis Knight he recreated Mable as Viscera he created the ACCOLYTES he recreated the Brood which gave us Christian Cage & The eleven time world Champ Adam Copeland AKA EDGE
Yeah, I agree with you that. It takes a hell a lot of class and respect from the Deadman, even if he's a face or heel, Undertaker's the reason why many of the stars, especially his own brother Kane, and their careers went up on track.
I can't wait until the day you do "The Complete Career of The Undertaker". It's gonna be at least 10 hours long 👍 It should be a Netflix mini series 😁 Your work continues to be amazing!
My favorite taker obviously. Back like 2011 I was watching tombstone the dvd, then the rock vs taker king of ring entrench was. I’ve was all over UA-cam watching everything ministry video I can find and then everything I can bout taker history. The theme song is so kick ass. I actually use it when I workout for motivation.
Great work. The music you played under your commentary was a nice touch. You captured the essence of Undertaker when the WWE put an effort into their productions
Yes!! 2 Undertaker videos back to back. Keep it going man ... can't wait for your take on this incredible career. Damn,I wish I could be as productive as you in these lockdown times.
Ministry of Darkness should've lasted a lot longer, imo. They were interesting since they felt like a greater evil when you realized how much more brutal they were than the Corporation even though they directly opposed them. It's hard to make a heel group like that work and make the number one hated heel at the time (Vince McMahon) actually garner fan sympathy when you saw Undertaker and his cult abduct women, crucify people and even straight up perform lynchings on their opposition. It had tons of interest when you saw even Austin interfere to help Stephanie out and by proxy help Vince. I wish they kept the Ministry as their own entity that would cause feuding factions like DX and the Corporation to set aside their differences to fight them off since they were a much stronger threat that couldn't be reasoned with since their leader literally went insane and actually believed his gimmick.
This was the height of my childhood fandom. I was petrified of the Ministry and used to run up the stairs to my bed after Raw had finished on Friday nights. Can remember hating the Vince reveal as the Higher Power at the time, it just didn't make sense.
Man... you put so much time and effort in your videos. I just find it amazing how much work you put in and your explaining is in such detail. Salute my man. 🙌
I must say I love these things, I love when you guys put out a new video, the show up on my YT from time to time, great stuffs, u know we took these days for granted and called them cheesy back in 1999 but now we miss these days, just like we all took "normal" for granted now that we're all growing through this CoVid-19 dilemma :(

I'm sure Ron never thought he'd be working as a mid-carder under Mark one day, thinking back to their NWA days. The Ministry lineup was odd & surreal. Kinda wish both Godwinn's had gone in instead of Viscera.
Her heel turn made absolute sense, given what her father put her through.
@@hothotheat3000 yea Vince was a piece of work

I don't know. It sounded like I accidentally stumbled on Jimmy Hart's cover of the MOD theme, and then, suddenly, some guy started to sing in my toilet...
This is probably my favorite iteration of the Undertaker. His entrance theme goes HARD and his whole attitude and gimmick during this time was dark and sinister
This was my favorite iteration of the Undertaker
1998-2001 was the greatest 3 year span in the WWE/WWF's history, during this time you had three main guys who were all at the peaks of their wrestling careers. Stone Cold, The Rock, and The Undertaker. This is the era that Taker went from being a main draw, to being THE DRAW on the card. It was the absolute best gimmick, at the best time, for the perfect performer. This is when Taker went from being the Deadman, to being the Phenom. The best of the best. It will never be this good again, and I am so appreciative of the fact I got to experience every minute of it. Good times
Triple H really came on as the top heel too. When Austin was out and taker in 99 rock and triple carried WWf/wwe
Taker's theme went HARD. My favorite of Undertaker's themes
Half an hour long??? Dont mind if I do!
James Blake it didn’t even feel like it was that long! I must have really enjoyed this video! 😁
@@martian78 i felt it was detailed great video
martian78 same bro!
You ain't lying lol
Taker best years 98-99 height of the attitude era his music promos he was his scariest and biggest body wise ministry of darkness was awesome I really wish he would end his career doing a throwback to this time
"Anyway, Kanes foot was set on fire this time" says it so calmly, killed me.
I continue to LOVE these entrance theme remixes!
Best wrestling information channel on UA-cam, hands down. Thank you so much for all the nostalgia you've brought.
I can honestly say I cheered for Taker more as a heel cause to me this is what the gimmick was essentially building up to, the ultimate evil. The music slayed, the satanic theme was on point and Taker looked like one of the Cenobites from Hellraiser, fuckin genius!!!
I wish Taker had longer and more memorable WWF/WWE title runs. That’s the only category that Taker fell short in.
I get your point but its also a testament to Taker and how feuds with him not necessarily main event can stack a card for a show.
Taker was like Andre did not need belt to be relevant
His Undisputed title reign while only 2 months short was his best.
Ministry of Darkness was such an eerie storyline. Taker and Bearer really upgraded their characters.
I love that you're using the Resident Evil series' OST for a lot of the Taker videos, really good atmosphere
I guess you can say that the Undertaker is the embodiment of Resident Evil. I can't wait hopefully for Undertaker to be in a future RE game, even if it is Resident Evil 9 with Rosemary Winters, now that would be a dream chemistry, now wouldn't it?
Jackyl would’ve been great as the higher power instead of Vince and it was a loss for WWE Bc by the time it was revealed that Vince was behind everything the Undertaker did just for the sole purpose of screwing Steve Austin people lost interest and it was a gain for ECW as Jackyl aka Cyrus became Joey Styles’ heel counterpart and it led to the whole Network storyline which was good
yea ECW did well with it. I remember watching and having mad heat for him haha.
clay baxter oh hell yeah like how he talked down to Styles and Gertner for being from New York at the Hammerstein Ballroom until Paul E hit him in the head with his telephone.
IT WAS ME ALL ALONG, AUSTIN!"
It took Vince from being just a massive asshole with too much power and a vindictive streak that you loved to hate... to being this utterly despiciable being that would stop at nothing, would stoop to any low to get one over his rivals.
Thanks for refreshing these great memories 🙏
This is around the time i switched from wcw to wwf it was a great time to be a fan. And great intro tune bro
I dunno how you crank out such great content so regularly. Hats off to you, sir. Well done
Remember when the ministry taker did a really cool promo for movies on the USA network I think it was called movies with deadman something like that but it was cool to see after raw I can’t remember the year
I remember that, but wasn't he part of some film on usa network.
Imagine this in today s pg Era :)
@@raphaelmorrata8905 Triple H is gonna start burying people in snowflakes.
@Razor Hall Gotdamn Michael Cole smh
I saw it live
He's still in badass shape
Didn't Shamrock rescue Stephanie
Shamrock didn't care much about WWF because he wanted to focus on fighting.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 Which I totally respect, but what could've been.
This is pure gold. Thanks for the great video, you can tell there's a lot of work behind it.
Always a taker fan, specially during this era.
I just tuned into the attitude era around Feb 99 after dropping wrestling mid way through 96, and seeing Taker like this blew my mind but seemed an absolutely suitable progression for the character to go
Dropped it during mid-96? Man, things were just getting started!
I like how he plays the real theme of it like he did val venis bio

Imagine kane being part in the ministry of darkness

My favorite taker obviously. Back like 2011 I was watching tombstone the dvd, then the rock vs taker king of ring entrench was. I’ve was all over UA-cam watching everything ministry video I can find and then everything I can bout taker history. The theme song is so kick ass. I actually use it when I workout for motivation.
You nailed it with the Bossman comment about WM. He could wrestle but nobody was invested in this match.
This is so amazing. Your channel is the greatest.
Great work. The music you played under your commentary was a nice touch. You captured the essence of Undertaker when the WWE put an effort into their productions
Great video. Loved the Ministry Taker. He did great job changing into this type character after being a face for last 4 or 5 years.
That chop suey with the ministry theme is so hard playing
Dude used Resident Evil 3 original music for this video 🔥🔥🔥
Not just that but Resident Evil Code Veronica too.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. This was my favorite era of the WWE.
One Of The Greatest Storylines In WWE History 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
That intro with SOAD featuring in Taker's video is the best thing I could ask for.
Been loving these, dug out my raw collection from 1999 to re-watch it all.
Even as a clear heel I still cheered this taker probably my favorite deadman persona!
you are a triple crown champ. great production, great narration, and now soundtracks.. love the system of a down touch..
The corporation was so good. Damn I miss these days. The best story lines ever
This video was like a movie. I love your work and never knew how much TV time Undertake had in those days
This was the height of my childhood fandom. I was petrified of the Ministry and used to run up the stairs to my bed after Raw had finished on Friday nights. Can remember hating the Vince reveal as the Higher Power at the time, it just didn't make sense.
same here. I wanted it to be the devil. I was 12. not vince. Also tje chair.that the Taker had at the time is sweet. i want a mattel fig haha
