So my Invisalign isn't going as planned │ Invisalign journey 8 month update

  • Ah the joys of Invisalign. So, my Invisalign journey has come to a bit of a halt. Overly dramatic as usual, but I wanted to share why I haven't done and update in a while and what will (hopefully) be the plan forward, already at 8 and a half months into my treatment with quite a few months left. All in all though I don't have too much to complain about! 😁

    If you want to see my other Invisalign updates, I have the full journey in this playlist here: bit.ly/3thTIBd
    I will do a Q&A on Invisalign when I (eventually) will be finished, so if you have any questions in particular that you want me to answer, you can leave it as a reply to this comment and I will include it in the video! 😊

    I know it’s been a while but I hope you are able to regain confidence in the process. Teeth shift at their own speed sometimes and the orthodontist can’t predict it. You’ve invested so much already so stay positive as much as possible

    Had the exact same problem and same tooth. I was suppose to get only 39 trays. 71 trays later I am finally done. I went clear correct. Never had any problems with aligner staining. That's weird how the most popular company hasn't changed their plastic formula so they are more comfortable and stain free. Have two bottom teeth that I think could have been better but I agree with you, plastic aligners can't fix everything perfectly. People have to be told this going in to consult appointments. Hope you are done by now!

    I have that exact same canine issue with it sticking out. Currently going through Invisalign and have already had to revise my aligners once and might have to do it again. I think those canines are the biggest problem cause they move so slowly while the rest of your teeth don’t. Good luck though!

    Just had mine taken off today!!! When I started my orthodontist told me 16-18 months, but took 20 because the same thing happened to me with not tracking about 2 months ago. Mine was a bottom front tooth, but like you, they did a new scan, ordered new aligners for the bottom, and moved the attachment on that tooth. Luckily though being in the US (Florida) they only took 2 weeks to come in. Don't lose faith though...stick with the process. I promise it's worth it in the end!! 😊🦷

      Oh yay, congrats on getting yours off, I bet that feels amazing! If you don't mind me asking, did you get a retainer or that wire behind your teeth after finishing the treatment?
      Thank you, that actually makes me feel a bit better about it, it's not like the whole treatment is detailed just because it's taking a few more aligners 😊💖

      Can I ask if you noticed signs of it not tracking? Like did your trays feel extra tight than usual when changing to a new one and did you notice gaps at the top of the aligner that look like air pockets?

    I’m doing Invisalign now, my dentist told me the K9 and the teeth next to the 2 front ones are the hardest teeth to move they for some reason don’t move as fast and easy as other teeth.

      @@monikak285 yes but I also had to wear a rubber band from a molar to the k9 on both sides as well as do IPR I don’t remember how many refinements I ended up doing but I think it was like 20 something. Aghh going through the same thing! My Invisalign’s were supposed to only be for 8 months , then got extended 3 more months and now another 5 months. So basically I was promised perfect teeth in 8 months but now it’s taking 16 months (plus the waiting time for the trays to come) I am not sure if my dentist is fucking up or what. I hate this 🥺

    • @SandraSkaar
      @SandraSkaar  Рік тому +2

      Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that (and that I missed your comment until now) - how have things progressed since you wrote this comment? It can be really challenging to be in the middle of the treatment when it feels like progress is standing still. And the waiting time for trays is something I didn't really consider much at all, but it really adds up. If it helps at all, I did finally finish my treatment and I am so so happy with how it turned out in the end and that I stuck it out. Has your dentist given you an explanation for why the treatment is being extended by double the time you were told to expect? What made the whole ordeal easier for me was that my dentist was very clear and explained the why and how of every step of the way. My last refinement I actually pushed for myself, which extended my treatment by a little over a month, but it was so worth it.
      I hope you are in a better spot now and don't be afraid to demand some time from your dentist and make them explain until you feel a bit more reassured. Hang in there!

      Thank you! 🤗 Yes, I've had great improvement since this video, thankfully! I have an appointment with my orthodontist on Monday (to see if I am done or need refinements!), so I figured I would do an update then, it should be up next week 😊
      Did you get a clincheck video with your consultation? It should show you when and how things should be moving, so you can compare to where you are now. Some months I feel like a lot happens visually and others it feels like it's standing still for a while. Definitely contact your ortho if you are unsure whether your teeth are tracking! 🤗😊

    When i finished my set, i honestly felt like crying because there were two specific teeth that barely moved through the whole process. I ended up having to get Braces for my top teeth to get my incisors to move.
    I should have just got braces from the start. Invisalign is great, yet it’s not a one size fits all solution. Teeth are unpredictable, and some teeth are just stubborn. They had been sitting in the same spot for over 30 years, and they just didn’t want to budge.

I needed pretty minor changes but still, i eneded up only needing 16 trays (although might be a lot idk) but now wearing my last one i can still easly fit it the first tray. Is that normal? • @SandraSkaar
      @SandraSkaar  10 місяців тому +1

      All of that was included in my case (the only thing I had to pay extra for was the retainer after I finished the treatment). I didn't pay extra for my refinements either. But I don't know if that is the case for everyone, I would definitely ask your orthodontist about it to be sure!

    Please go to an Orthodontist (specialist) and not a general dentist for Orthodontic treatment: you'll have much nicer teeth and less likely to have complications further down the line. There's a big difference between the two.

    • @SandraSkaar
      @SandraSkaar  Рік тому +4

      I think I explained it in the video, but perhaps not well enough. Because my teeth were not tracking, I had to get a new scan and then my orthodontist ordered a new treatment plan. As we were waiting for that treatment plan to be made and the new trays shipped to his office, I had to keep wearing the same aligner. If I changed aligner, teeth would move and the new treatment would not have fit. So it was purely because of logistics, not because the treatment called for wearing them that long.
