Quick combat tip if you want it: When an enemy is pressured, attacks like Focused Thrust (Cloud), Focused Strike (Tifa), and Focused Shot (Barret) will rapidly fill their stagger meter. You don’t have Focused Strike for Tifa yet, but you’ll get it in Chapter 7. This game’s combat is essentially built around staggering your enemies, so if you can get good at that, everything else falls into place. Anyway, good luck on your playthrough! This game and its sequel are both in my top 5 games of all time, so I hope you continue to enjoy yourself.
Cloud does have a parry, it's tied to his punisher mode. Immediately switching to it, or holding block while in it, will parry counter any melee attack 🤘
1:16:40 he was staggered and I was screaming at my screen “use your limit break!!”. Lmao loving the playthrough so far I always love seeing an FF newcomer fall in love with the series
I'd gotten the platinum achievement for this game earlier this year, and it was brutal when I doing certain chapters for the *Hardened Veteran.* It almost took me a whole month to get it, but it was worth it.
45:00 i think cloud is becoming my fav character low key. Jesse i need u to rob my house. The look on your face made me laugh u was like what the heck 😄
I gotta teach you the ultimate Cloud guide because the thugs were roughing you up a bit. Yes you can parry and counter attack with Cloud. The way you do it is that you can press triangle and then block button in succession just before the enemy hits you. This is done when in normal stance and switch to punisher mode. You can also do it from punisher mode and holding block, but I noticed doing it with the correct timing switching from normal stance to punisher mode to counter has better invisibility frames. Also, you will not be able to dodge every attack. If you block it halves the damage and builds your limit break faster. Hope this helps!
Roche battle was lit. Loved how you had the swag finish with the braver at the end. This game’s combat just gets better and better as you unlock more abilities, weapons, and even new party members. Really enjoying your playthrough so far! Keep it up man!
@@danlyday7248 it's def up there. Id have Horizon Forbidden West number 1 imo cause JFC the art style combined with the decima engine can't be topped. 1.HFW 2. FF7R 3.Death Stranding
This game go crazy fr. It's gonna really open up for u when you take the time and get familiar with the different functions of your weapon abilities. If you look in your "Upgrade Weapons" tab, to the right side they describe the ability associated with that specific weapon and it's proficiency. How weapon abilities work is they have to be used in order to learn and once you've maxed out it's proficiency it becomes permanently added to ur repertoire, freeing u up to use the next best weapon you've collected. You become a powerhouse over time fr. Also materia is gonna prove itself more reliable than items and they improve similarly by having them equipped. As they upgrade they provide better bonuses and their abilities increase dramatically! It's so much more than it's on the surface but not overwhelming. Relatively speaking, FF7 has one of the more streamlined RPG mechanics which helped with its popularity. Id recommend watching a non-spoiler tutorial video on materia and combat mechanics bro. It will give you a glimpse of some the best ways to improve your prowess with the game and will have u excited to dive further into this game and the sequels 🤝🏼 good luck and I've been enjoying your videos with the wife we've started playing this game again 😂✅
I am always the same. I could watch these games forever, doubly awesome when it's completely new eyes on it. It's the best way to relive that first playthrough. And the story never gets old.
I just finished the episode. Loving it so far and I can see you're starting to get hooked. Once that FF UA-cam revenue rolls in you gotta invest in a camera that's not cooking after 1 hour aha. Looking forward to the next upload!
Subscribed to see more of you playing this game. Hope people don’t spoil things and please don’t play previous games until you finish at least the two installments of the remake since you have started with it. And it is as good for learning the story as the original game, the story at its core is just a great one.
Hey there, newest subscriber. Your channel came up in my Recommended. Got to say, like what im seeing, already watched FF7R parts 1 & 2. Also see you did a Cyberpunk run, so gonna watch all of those. Glad I found your channel, Cheers!
I am about to dive into this video, so showing ya love and support. The way you show interest not only in the story but the music and characters and even combat makes hype for your future videos. You will not be disappointed with FF7 Remake and even Rebirth! It makes me happy and excited to see new players to Final Fantasy and picking the Remake Trilogy as their first. As a player who played the OG FF7 in the 90s and loving this Remake Trilogy, I look forward to seeing how you all take in the iconic game of the 90s but in a modern take. Keep it up and look forward to your theories about the story and your growth about the iconic lore and world of FF7. 😎🔥🔥🔥
I love that you keep commenting how cinematic the game feels. Theres an almost 30 year old interview with the series creator about how one of their main goals with FF7 was to make it feel cinematic. FF games are all pretty different from each other, but if theres one thing they all aim for its that cinematic feel.
Nice going man I'll sub for this! Always interesting to see someone play who is completely new to final fantasy, and FF7 remake & FF7 rebirth are among the best. I'd also highly recommend final fantasy 16 if you really like to invest into the cinematics/story
Not a spoiler just a tip: use focused thrust when enemy is pressured to fill the pressure gauge to full quicker for quicker staggers) then use braver etc. with Tifa use her focused strike to do the same. She can also take the stagger multiplier up with some of her abilities, especially if you keep her chi level up. Goodluck
Combat tip Focused abilities will massively boost stagger bar when the energy is pressured. Barrett 2 atb focused shot on a pressured enemy will almost always stagger an enemy.
I love blind FF7 playthroughs. Can't wait until the mind duckery of the story starts. Just know when you get confused or not understanding what is going on in the story that it is intentional for a first timer. It's always fun knowing the story and watching people theorize what is happening. There's a lot of little hints and foreshadowing in the narrative if you are paying close attention across the games.
I didnt get very far into the video yet, but this is for future reference. If it's a blue materia, it needs to be linked with the green materia. Notice how your iron blade and buster sword are different. Iron blade is 0 0 0, and your buster sword is 0=0 for materia slots. The 0=0 means they link together. You'll see what I mean when you get or use them. This is very not apparent and is very difficult to tell how to use. Anything that gives you a link can be used with those blue materia. You will get more link spots later on with different weapons/upgrades.
What the hell is that Shinra Middle Manager talking trash to Barrett about on the train, like he's about to start a fight with a dude with a machine gun for an arm who is twice his size lmao.
Sad that you failed the driver test with the bike. Different cutscene if you pass it with higher hp. Still great to see that more people are playing this amazing game
Fazo, when you finish this game (and the sequel), you HAVE to watch the continiation to the story. It's a movie called Final Fantasy 7: Advent children. But don't watch it until after you finish the game (since the movie is a sequel it has MAJOR game spoilers).
Love it man! Yeah idk if you're able to export / capture these videos at a higher frame rate like 60 or even 30. Looks like 24fps. Not a deal-breaker by any means, but yeah it'd be neat to see these at the same performance mode you're experiencing which should be 60fps.
If you're not sure if you've Assessed an enemy before, hit the touchpad button in the middle of your DualSense controller to pull up the enemy's info at any time. If it's filled out and doesn't have a bunch of ???, then it's an enemy you have Assessed before. Also, Cloud's melee Parry skill occurs when you hit Guard while in Punisher Mode. Cloud will have his blade raised in front of him with just one hand, with his other free.
Mark my words: Triple Slash is the best skill in the game! It makes taking out smaller enemies so convenient, and it instantly takes you to your next opponent! It's basically a glorified homing attack! Trust me, it'll be your best friend!
Interesting note:T he scene and dialogue after the bike chase will change depending how much health Cloud finishes with. Not sure if I ever got the best one on my own. The games are chock-full of details like that!!
Just finished this vid I'm behind everyone but tip. Never under value the importance of your materia. Meaning u get extra slots you take that. More materia u have more variations you can perform in battle. Hope it isn't too spoiler is but figured I'd give that small tip. This is me haven't watched your next vid but noticed u passed on adding an extra slot of materia. So far so good though you learn by doing and you'll get more proficient overall at the game. Like I said I wanted to see how you grow with the battle system. Been great watching you trek through this.
Bro if you like anime you are going to love the story and lore in FFVII. It just gets better and better as it goes and you come to understand more. Have fun take your time enjoy ill be sure to watch your entire playthrough I love seeing newcomers reactions to my favorite tale in video games.
Ha you missed materia and so many shirna boxes at the 1:24:00 mark. The materia you missed at 1:25:08 - you can see it on the left :( Non-spoiler tips: while battling, ypu can see what the enemy is doing and if they are weak to an attack. For example, the enemy was Dodging your attacks, and you read that as the game telling you to dodge. But it wasnt, the enemy was dodging. When an enemy is weak to an element like Fire, if you use Fire on it and hits, it will say Weakness and then the damage output. You MUST keep eyes on your health, ATB gauges and MP on the bottom right screen. Combat will just continue to build and get harder and harder and if you are missing basics, you’re gonna have a hard time later. Make sure you read what the game is trying to teach you and apply it!
⚠️Every new weapon comes with a new special move. Learn it by spamming it and you'll be able to use it with any weapon You might know this by now. You just dropped Ep.4 and I'm early into Ep.3
Quality of life spoiler, you can scroll for this one, this one is maybe a bit spoiler-y. For the upgrades on the weapons, you will get a very limited amount of points, so each weapon should eventually be a different 'build' so to speak, so if you want tanky cloud, get defensive stuff, if you want damage cloud, get offensive stuff. you won't, in a first play through, be able to max out everything. I think you can reassign things as well. Not sure when, but you eventually can so dont freak out about it.
Brother.., for the love of God press that CIRCLE button while on the bike.. the controls are ON THE SCREEN!! 🤦🏻 Hopefully he noticed.. am writing this after the very frustrating minutes he somehow was unaware of it..
Jessie is such a predator on Cloud!😂 Also she was really doing that whole personal topside job for nothing cause it really wasn't HER bomb that caused that bigger spreading explosion, that was SHINRA setting them up! Course she didn't know that🙄

Wedge is Badger from breaking bad btw. Also focused thrust is broken when you used it on a pressured enemy.
Ahh probably where I heard his voice before or from another show
Barret cloud and tifa all have a focus attach they pushes stagger
