- Hi this is Hiba
This is the second boat we saw and we went for it! Its a Jeaneau 54DS from 2003, it needs loads of work but we got a good deal and its all work that Andy can do by himself!
Thank you for watching and if you want to support me making my videos please go to Andy's Patreon as we are putting all the content on there in advance for everyone :)

Hi Guys, Arthur (Moose) Our son, is on the spectrum and none verbal. Please don't leave nasty comments about him. They will be deleted and you'll be reported. Thank you for your kindness ❤
You know what guy's block him just a green eyed person who is jealous.
@@tw1972 we have had to block a couple already, quite shocking that adults are finding the time to hate on a child
@@OceanCruisers that is very low that adults act like children good on you guy's ❤
Moose is awesome, love to see the joy you all bring to one another as a family. Thank you for sharing that love and joy with the world!
thanks James. appreciate those kind words 🙏
Great video, I just subscribed and look forward to more videos.
cheers Scotty 👍
Olivier.
Thank you for those kind words Olivier, it is wonderful to hear from you 🙏
Congrats! That looks fantastic and super spacious. A lot of light coming in from those nice large skylights in the salon. Love it. Cheers!
awesome mate! can't wait for you to come sailing on it!
Great boat looking forward to seeing you on the water
cheers mate!
That doesn’t look bad . New teak can’t beat that . And rigging . I bet the ac and frig units work .
none of those things worked 😂 a few more bits to be replaced than expected
nice score by the look of it. it's not one big job, just a hundred little jobs. new rig and nav gear is a real bonus too.
A lot more little jobs than we thought! 😂 but all easy stuff. Cheers mate
My grandson also.happy sailing
That's great 👍
Nice choice, Andy needs something to do. Hiba, film him lots so we can see just how proficiate he really he is. Waiting
I'm sure I'll disappoint Herbert 😂

Hi Andy and Hiba, I just watched a video on youtube from Dr Berg, on the positive effects of Sulforaphane, on Autism and, several other heath problems. I have followed Dr Berg for years. I have found information on his channel, that has helped me, and many others. Dr Bergs food based approach to improving wellness, is tranforming the lives of people I love.
thanks Herbert, I'll look into that. I was listening to a nutritionist on a podcast this morning and he was talking about similar things. all the best mate
@@OceanCruisers also google LDN (LDN Research Trust) Your kid is gorgeous, by the way.
thank you for those kind words Cat 🙏
.... the old phrase holds true ... "every cloud has a silver lining ..... nothing a bit of elbow grease won't take care of ... think the big thing here is, what has to be done on the hard and what can be done while you are "doing boat jobs in exotic harbors and coves" on the hook .... think you where smart to follow your initial gut feeling of walking away from the previous option ..... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our ocean .....
very accurate analysis Peter and thank you for the positive words! 🙏
@@OceanCruisers .... you are welcome .... thx for the reply .... make it an exceptional week .....
absoloutely, you too bro 👊
Hiba Andy and Moose. I’m so jealous. I’ve had dream of buying a used boat and fixing it up. I think then 54DS is a perfect choice. I see you’re getting new sails and I think you’re replacing the through hulls. Thats great. Question, has the standing rigging been replaced? Good luck. I’ll be following your adventures from Toronto.
correct mate, standing rigging is original, need a couple bits changing, will do a re-rig before crossings 🤘
@@OceanCruisers sounds good. Carry on Andy.
Loving the disco vibes!
wouldn't we all! 😂
hello Eric, It is good to hear from you and that you are having wonderful experience on the same boat we have, I glad you are enjoying it. we will also be changing the through hulls as you have. thanks you for the positive wishes, all the best
so happy for you three finding your boat and have to say thats one hell of a boat i would love something like that one day but to then im with my westerly 33
but I'd feel safer in a westerly!
@@OceanCruisers i give it that westerly is a very safe boat
me and my wife have sailed over the north sea from england to france and all the way around to portugal then to monaco and greece all in the weserly over 8 months then back to england again now have the boat out the water for a refit this year
What a great video! I'm so happy for the three of you. It's a wonderful boat. I can't wait for the next episode.
cheers mate, looking forward to welcoming you aboard some day!
Just found your channel and look forward to catching up with your progress. Intrigued with the fact that the ex- skipper was ‘around’ - was that just happenstance - or did the owners give you his number?
yeah he was in town and showed us the boat. Nice guys, met up with him again recently. Thanks for watching!
Hi, Love the 54 DS & can’t wait to follow the progress. Are you prepared to say what you paid for her?
yup, 130k 👍
If you are happy with the price and see yourself being able to sort stuff . Then it’s a go . As I have said before not a fan of production boats . But I see the appeal .
each to their own! I can't afford a non production boat so this is my option!
Congratulations on your New Journey. Thank you for taking us along.
And when it comes to Boats or even a house there is always something to fix or improve on.
From what you have shown us it shouldn't take long. Just for your peace of mind, I would change out all the Thru holes and clean out all your fuil tanks. Polish the fuel, and do a Very good Engine maintenance, From New belts and water pump, and a upgraded Alternator. Inspect the Exhaust pipe And hose. The Heat exchanger Cleaned or replaced.
I Personally don't like
Teak dicks. Way to much work and they leak. But they do look nice.
If it was me I would fix, paint the outside of the Boat and to do the rest in the water. Should save you some cash that way.
Ok until next time, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
all great advice there bill! and thank you for the kind wishes. Aloha to you also ✌️
Hard to see from the video but the circular blob at the stern end of the keel just below the keel bill joint on the starboard side looks like it could be the exit point of a lightning strike. Hopefully just what it looks like on the screen and not in actuality. If that was lightning, definitely get it. Inspected by a naval architect as that could mean structural problems and point of water intrusion. Good luck either way.
all good mate. that's just a huge anode that's attached to the keel! but I did check 😂
You can take the lad out of Wigan, but…..😂
🤣 Its home port will be Wigan Pier. 🤣 Already got the stickers printed
Can you share your source for searching the boats for sale in Greece? Was it simply posted on Yachtworld?
I think Yacht Market
I may have missed this, but did you divulge the purchase cost of the boat? Just out of interest!
yep, the video from a couple weeks back 👍
Shit Bombs LOL Excellent. X
#bestlife
Curious if you had a survey?
nope. i knew enough to access that the hull was solid, the rig was good, the engine worked and electrics seemed in order. everything else i knew would need potentially messing around with anyway.
hi,what price you pay. i searching for 54DS. but i dont pay over 190 000€ with tax. and must be in perfect condition.
i doubt you will get one for that price including tax in good condition
i find little over budget 195000€ with tax.never say never😄
So what a final price for such condition boat?
130k USD 👍
@@OceanCruisers wow. Thats perfect price. How to find similar one for me? 🤯😵💫
Check keel bolts?
seem fine 👍
This boat is many things but a 'project boat' is not one of them! Two years in the hard means TLC, elbow grease, and a ton of what should have been regular maintenance all being done at once but I've owned a project boat, and if you're not glassing, rewiring, stripping engineers down, replacing through holes, etc, it's not a project! You could probably have chosen to give it a good clean, service the engine, antifoul and splash this boat almost as it is and your have been ok. Not as pretty as you might want but just fine.
i did all of those things you just described as a project boat 🤣
sorry i be bored but i find JEANNEAU SUN ODYSSEY 54 DS
2005 €165,000 tax included privat used. this is some boat broker want 195000€ but this is direct from owner sale. but age, new boat price, price from 2019 this boat must be price ta under 140 000€, my neighbour sold charter boat SO 54DS 2020 for 120 000€ + tax. this be normal price in 2020. Now i change tactic friend go see boat make picture and document and later i go direct to owner.
good luck mate!
That is not a project Boat by any means A bit of paint on the bottom, a polish you’ve got $1 million boat.
I believe we have a gentlemen's disagreement Mark 👍
