      @@MayIPleaseAskYou ok, so that's not a question, you started out polite but then ended a bit preachy and confrontational. I get that you're trying to spread awareness but talking to people like that makes them turn away and not want to pay attention...its why we as vegans end up with a reputation for shoving the truth down other people's throats n.n
      Maybe instead you could have said something positive along the lines of :
      'Wow that's great, and no animals were harmed to make it! I hope that will encourage you to make more choices that don't hurt other living beings and benefit the earth, there really are some amazing alternatives out there! :) good luck 😀'
      I'm not trying to be mean, again, I get that you are trying to do something positive! but I honestly feel that there's a better way to communicate what you are trying to say and if you try to make people feel good about the one vegan thing they've done they will be encouraged to try more.. on the other hand if you put them down about all of the other choices they make on a daily basis they are more likely to shut down on you. You will have a bigger impact and more luck spreading your message if people are receptive to what you're saying and associate veganism with feeling good and straight facts instead of other people making them feel bad about themselves 👍
      -sorry for the essay, it wasn't just your comment. I've seen so many like this today and felt I needed to say my piece somewhere...

      @@MayIPleaseAskYou same, to be fair I wish I'd been raised vegan. And I see your point about child abusers and dog fighters because honestly I see it as something just as awful too. Not gonna lie I've lost my calm approach on several occasions because it's so painfully frustrating that so many people can't see it.
      The problem I feel there is with approaching it the same way as those things is that the people who are funding the cruelty are the ones who don't see it as being just as bad (*yet*). The people who don't see it that way also tend to close their mind off as soon as they hear or see something that threatens their perspective and just laugh vegans off as 'extreme'. When I went vegan I approached things the same way as you seem to now and to my knowledge helped no-one become vegan by making them feel bad about it. But when I realised this after the first few years I understood that I needed to change something about my approach, so I tried to be kinder and more compassionate on the subject and develope open conversations with people instead. now 2 years later I have helped 13 people I know of go completely vegan without all that much effort, and have a couple of vegetarians down too (it's a start). I try to remember the fact that I haven't always been vegan myself and imagine the way I would have liked someone to help me see the bigger picture. Many people aren't awful at heart like child abusers or dog fighters, but they have been born into a society where funding a practice that is just as bad has been normalised and they don't yet realise how involved they are and how easy it can be to change that.
      All the same though thanks for hearing me out on this, I appreciate it! If that's the way you get a better response from people changing then fair enough. I'm just going off of my own and other friends experience. Good luck with it all and all the best 👍

    Fabulous recipe, what can"t cashews do. I added a teaspoon of bottled capers that adds a bit of "fishy" flavor to replace the anchovy paste in traditional Caesar dressing. I thought it was incredible. BTW, to go a little lower in fat and add a little protein, I have had good success using silken tofu in place of the cashews and plant milk. But nothing compares to the richness and creaminess of cashews.

    Anja, I LOVE watching your videos. I have a batch of fries in the oven right now. When you make this recipe, or others with nuts do you restrict how much of the dressing you put on your salads, or fries? I am loving the weight loss side effect of eating a plant-based diet, but still afraid of the amount of fat in things. I am eating whole foods, minimal processed foods as I love cooking for my family. Thanks for any advice!

    • @cookingwithplants
      @cookingwithplants  8 років тому

      I don't really restrict or measure. I just try to eat as many whole plant based foods as possible and add things like nuts etc to taste. If you are trying to lose weight I recommend that you keep a food diary so that you can pin-point which foods are making you gain weight and which ones help you to lose. If in doubt, eat more greens and starch based foods such as rice and potato. :-)

    I'm sorry if I missed it, but how long does this dressing keep for in the fridge? And how many servings do you think this recipe makes? I can't wait to make it!

    It looks wonderful. Just wondering if maybe sunflower seeds could be subbed in for cashews as my wife is allergic to nuts?

    Hey Anja, this may be a stupid question but is this really oil free? Was wondering because it has the peanuts in it. Love your channel. X

      +Eline van der Laan Nuts and seeds are whole foods Adding nuts and seeds to one's salad boosts the bioavailability of the fat-soluble carotenoid phytonutrients in the greens. Whereas oils are empty calories that have had the fibre and nutrition removed. They are just liquid fats.

    I’m excited to try this. People on different threads have talked about miso paste and marmite for some of these sauces and cheeses. Have you ever played around with those in these types of recipes?
