Seeing one of older videos makes me truly appreciate the time and effort you’ve given in making your C5 the car it is today!! Thanks for sharing your videos with us as you’ve built your C5 up and modified it. You’ve been very instrumental in helping me get through the work I’ve done on my C5. Sometimes I took a different approach to certain things, but your guidance was very helpful. Anyway, was looking at my rotors, and they look pretty crappy, I’m gonna paint them. As usual, took a peek at how you did yours first!
Chris, this is my first comment to your site. I enjoyed your work on this one. I have been wanting to do this to my car also. I was surprised to see you painted the brake disk also. I also saw the rotor looked good after a test drive. The paint must not effect the operation of the pads on the rotor. Thanks
No, it worked fine. If you are worried about, you can take the extra time to tape it off, or cut the hole in a piece of cardboard to use as a template.
hey unless i missed it what kind of spray paint did you use i replaced all my rotors and pads on my 94 vette 3 months ago i bought them already coated black which turned gray after a while any color sure beats that rusted look after sitting a week or so nice video thanks
Do you find that the Roloc discs pretty make the steel wire brush obsolete? I ordered a few boxes of Rolocs in different coarseness levels and believe my wire brushes will only be needed for severe rust jobs.
Really depends on what you are using it on. The fiber disks do a better job on smooth surfaces. Wire wheels are better for anything textured or going around edges. You have to be careful with the fiber disks, especially on softer metals. Even a medium course disk will grind off a lot of material in a short period of time.
Chris, it looks better and better with every little touch up. Just curious as to why you didn't repaint the red calipers while you were at it. Especially the corvette logo in white on the fronts as well?
I just repainted the calipers a few months ago. There is a 3 part video series on the channel. Go check it out. Also, the corvette lettering is exposed aluminum from the factory, not painted.

Thank you! So many people don’t see the evolution.
Great video! Thanks for making all these great "how to" videos Chris. I appreciate the time and detail that you put into them.
Shouldn't you paint the hub since you exposed the metal?
Another great video.
I painted mine copper
Chris, you are making that bad boy better and better with each project. Again great info.
Chris, I like the jack stands. Way to go, safety first!

Great video Chris, I plan to do this on my C5 but I think I will wait till it cools down a little in Fresno lol
I love it
Painting the disk friction area seems very wrong.
