Jet Li is such a sunshine in real life. The change to stone faced badass is jarring. You watch his interview and think - no way this is the same guy. And yet…

Fist of legend is IMO the best movie from Jet Li he just did it all perfect.

Nice. Choreography was done by the famous Yuen Woo Ping, arguably the best fight choreographer ever. Went on to choreograph the fighting for the Matrix films. It was actually this movie, Fist of Legend, that inspired The Wachowskis to use Yuen Woo Ping in their movies.

I really love this scene. To those who may not know Chen Zen (Jet Li) was the student of Huo-Yuan Jia and played also by Jet in his 2008 last epic film Fearless. How cool is that? The choreo was so good, far better that the original. Unfortunately the late Bruce did not reach that point or level cuz we all know he gone ahead of us very early. Jet here show also his Emperor like aura, he stands strait or blocks magnificently. That kind of authority especially in fighting the last guy who happened to face by Chen's master Hou in Fearless. What a connection. Maybe when Jet was doing the story for Fearless he was rekindling this film and find himself in amazement.

The bruce lee one is more realistic because he is showing you that fighting multiple people at the same time is not possible; that is why you need a weapon like the nunchaku.

What amazes me most about Bruce Lee's films is how realistic a lot of the fight choreography is. The Chuck Norris fight is still one of the best put to film in terms of the philosophy of fighting an opponent you can't beat at first. The adaptability and attuning your style to the perspective of their technique is something we just really don't see in that way in most modern films outside of Donnie Yen's flicks.

You have to remember that Bruce took it to the next level, he changed otherwise poorly choreographed scenes for ever. And he obviously inspired so many. Most don't know this, he really took the reigns, as I explained earlier about The Big Boss.

There's not much between them until you take out technology. I like Jet Li, his style is deliberate with precise concentrated power. But Bruce is a force of nature and not even the best a human can do is a match for it.

Awesome fight but I have to give it to Bruce Lee simply because of the added bonus of the nuchucks used in the fight as they start to overwhelm him, Bruce pulls those out and just drops everyone until it's down to one. Lot of respect to Jet Li by showing the damage guys were taking, but Bruce's is just so good.

  • @joonashannila8751

Fun fact: This is not Jet Li's first movie, BUT this scene pays homage to Bruce Lee intentionally, and Jet Li was intended to be a "replacement" of Bruce Lee for Chinese people since Bruce Lee passed away.. This was even at the government level thought like this.. However Jet Li felt like he could never fill those Shoes, so he went his own way... And the rest is history ^^ I feel like Jet Li doesnt get the recognition he deserves for Martial Arts movie history.. To me he is a HUGE legend

Bruce Lee invented a lot of techniques for choreography that are still used today in film. But watching this and your previous video back to back really shows how much difference 20 years of development in both film technology and choreography techniques can make. That said, I *DON'T* think choreography has developed as far in the subsequent 30 years as it did in the 20 this comparison shows. Film tech has kept advancing in that time though...

Good reaction video. Both of these movies - Fist of Fury and Fist of Legend are remakes of previous tv series and earlier movies according to a true figure Chen Zhen during the Second World War in China. Japanese invasion and incursion into China resulted in widespread and grassroot anti Japanese resistance. All these movies are a hit even to now

Which version (Bruce Lee vs. Jet Li) better depicts the pacing of real fights? Also, some exaggerations would be expected since they are both movies.

    • @billywashere6965
      @billywashere6965 3 роки тому +1

I always personally felt Bruce Lee depicted more realistic pacing than Jet Li. In real life the pace is determined oftentimes by the aggressor, which can widely vary. If you look at a lot of real life 1 vs multiple people fights on UA-cam you'll see that the guy outnumbered usually waits for his opponents to attack and counterattacks when he can. Ironically, a lot of real life fights involving multiple people do adopt the one-at-a-time rule to avoid crowding, unless they can get the guy on the ground and just stomp a mudhole in him.

Based on a Bruce Lee Movie there was a thing between Japan and China and China and Japan. Japan occupied China and disrespected Chinese is what movies portray, So Not only is this setting Vengeance you killed my sick master, nor Honor of our martial art v your martial art, This is a country v. county respect thing fighting for don't call me chicken-take-that-back, don't disrespect us thing.-Ernie Moore Jr.

3:58 The fair it's never fair thing...it's the setting. In China [by movies] Master is a different tier, Reputation for School and Honor credits was a thing. Every body had henchmen, or students. You said Wushu guys like to fight multiple guys, MySayEMJ Nobody fights without weapons or they fight in group tiers-Low-level first higher level then master...You only fighting in China is you get Jumped. Except honor matches about a System or Style competing for reputation or Status-local or far-reaching.-Ernie Moore Jr.
Like you said things in these movies not fair. Masters would have a signing to quell any dispute where someone wants Vengeance, Masters would sign a waver publicly observed that should death happen there is no retribution by students family friends or associates. So that it what you saw here This was an Honor match.-Ernie Moore Jr.

5:15 I want to point out the racism in Kung fu films, ever since Bruce lee... the Chinese has been looked down on by the Japanese.... and the racism is coming from the Chinese film maker. If you notice the Japanese fighter ..... he's slower.... angrier.... and more telegraphic. .. showing insuppirority. They did this in IPMAN also... it started with Bruce lee.. but it was always a "strike back" at the Japanese for calling the Chinese weak man of asia.... that part was not fake...much like the black sin america..America... Chinese were mistreated by the japanese... and Bruce lee made a fuckin stand. And now look..... even in the jet li films decades later..... the Chinese still stand tall... all the way til now... ipman is still beating 10 Japanese just like jet li and Bruce lee before him.

It's cheap and boring, like The Legend Of Bruce Lee series, also quite shitty. The actor did it much better as Bruce on Ip Man 4 anyway, so at least it gave him some experience, i guess.
