My third ever martial arts film i ever watched. First was No Retreat, No Surrender starring Kurt McKinney & a young JCVD then American Samurai with David Bradley & Mark Dacascos.
That general is a TANK, i think he was real champion in Kickboxing.
The first guy who fought the general was the last boss in another Jet Li film, Twin Warriors. Michelle Yeoh also is featured in that movie. Just imagine the last boss with longer hair.
You guys have no idea who the general is, do you? He was a real kick boxer from Canada back in the days before he got invited to do movies in Hong Kong. He started his acting career ever since then. Back in the days, Hong Kong actors have to know how to fight before they get an invitation to Hong Kong cinema.
I have watched the film several times and consider it a classic

And fun fact, Jet’s arm was actually broken by Billy during the fight and Billy also got hurt by Jet due to he try to control his power. If Billy use his full strength, Jet can’t stand too long for real

i think a more appropriate translation is "sick man of east asia" but yea other than that sign is the same reason why he got angry

English versions of these movies are all shit. The sign is not about Jing Wu. It reads 东亚病夫, "the sick man of East Asia". This is how Japan called China during the War. Japanese propaganda claimed that China is culturally and economically sick and needs to be healed. They used this as a reason to attack China. The sign also means to show the martial superiority of Japan. There is much more to this than the eyes can see. Also the man who plays General Fujita is a real kickboxing champion. He broke two ribs of Jet Li during the shooting of this movie.
