it’s wild to me that some of the gnarliest skaters thomas, reynolds, greco, whose bodies - because of the intensity of their skating - you’d think would not be able withstand the ravages of time and age, actually have had the longest skate careers of that generation, and it makes me so happy. happy birthday jaime, still looking so damn good on a board; an absolute legend, and inspiration.
@@ronniecreager2585 - yeah, some people are just durable. Some of these running backs in the NFL with long careers have the same "durability" gene, I swear.
i think theres a lot of factors but number one important aspect is if you dont use it you lose it. focus on longevity, keep up with skating and the needs of the body over the years and you can skate for a long time
I've been looking up every day for the 50 for 50 since Oct. 10th. I see on the Nine Club it's not ready yet. You've inspired me since day one when I played Tony Hawk in 99.. I'm 37yrs old and I molded your style in the 24yrs skating. I've let myself go because of life but I've been getting back on it as of lately and looking forward to your last part. Age is just a number and I've never been more hungry than ever to skate.
I m 42 and i was already watching his vids when i was a teenager, more than 20 years ago now and i'm still riding. This man, with Reynolds, Muska, Boulala, Campbell and others of the era are absolute legends. Seeing them still riding with attitude at this age is incredible, big big big respect.
Im 42 now. Still love sk8ing. I remember being a 15yr old grom in FL and happen to be sk8ing a drop in a bank parking lot in Dothan. A lady comes over and says, hey you guys might know my son, “Jamie Thomas” haha! Our minds were blown that day!!!. He came out to PCB a year or 2 later for a park demo. Super humble… Autographs all around. Thank you Jamie for keepin it 100 all these years!!!
my pops took a Friend and I too my first demo 2001 Circa Demo, COLE was still on Enjoi, Apples had literally just turned pro. My dad still brings up how nice he was, how he told everyone to be respectful because I will stay here for everyone to get something. signed. pops went up to him and chatted for a bit
15 years ago, when I started skating, i watch zero and mystery videos. Definitely respect his profiles back then, but in these days at 49 years he real hero and inspiration. Its not just skating, this is really high level tricks for this age🔥
@@bqb9591 Yeah. Noticed the same thing. Sounds like Jamie Thomas. 😂 But yeah... Absolutely insane to be shredding like this, at that age. (Considering the hammers he's constantly dropped throughout his career as a pro.) 🫡 Salute to him. ✌️
Finally got my Vajra deck in the mail yesterday. Taking it really slow, only pushing around the driveway. Haven't even tried to ollie or anything yet. Still, there's a bunch of sticks and acorns, so I'm remembering how to fall again.
Yikes. It's ok in your teens and twenties, bones bend more. And it's ok at 53 if you never quit since your teens. But to get back into it after 20 years... I tried to get back into it in my late 30's. Landed funny on the most simple trick, foot went 180 deg and ended up in hospital for 2 weeks, bolts, pins, 2 plates, and 6 months to get me walking again. That was 10 years ago. You just aren't as flexible - you can't afford any mistakes to relearn the skill, and it's only through mistakes that we learn, catch22. Stamp collecting??
I just turned 44 and am about to start again. Did you ever see the "Goldfish" Girl skate video? The pogo stick skit in that rings very true as you get in your 30's and 40s
@@PAPPADASH I'm 45. I started in the 80's as a kid, quit. Started up again when I was 21, quit. Started up again at 31, quit. Now I'm getting the itch again. It's what I wanted to do in the 80's, watching Hosoi and Hawk battle it out, and at my age, street skating seems way too brutal on the body. haha.
Love to see it, hes worked hard to stay in shape and healthy enough to move like this at 49. I’m only 20 but damn this motivates me so damn much. Love to Zero and Jamie Thomas
My first favorite skater. Had a copy of Thrill of it All and watched it over and over. Back before Tony did the 900, before the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. Skateboarding was raw back then. Awesome to see Jamie still ripping!
After the career he's had, being one of the most prolific and ground breaking riders over the last 30 years; the huge drops, the insane rails, the numerous stunning video parts, the amount of gnarly slams taken, and being a front runner in raising the limit of what was possible to do, it's simply unfathomable that he can still skate this well at this age...What an inspirational skateboarder at 49 - and inspirational is almost too (fs) feeble a word to even get close to describing his contribution to skateboarding...Timeless style...outright daredevil, leader, pioneer, there aren't enough superlatives in language...Happy Birthday Chief! I can't help but hope there's one of these at 50 - but then again - I think he's somewhat earned his place by now already :) Thank you Jamie Thomas
My biggest role model growing up just turned 49, holy shit. Happy Birthday Jamie, you've done so much for skateboarding and we owe you a tremendous amount of gratitude for that.
Happy birthday Jamie.. still ripping! I have some good memories of skating with you and Kirk the Jerk.. 30 years ago! OSIDE square pool, late night hill bombs, etc.
That muscle memory style is timeless. I got to meet Jamie Thomas when I was young at a skate demo and asked him if he would do the leap of faith again, I forget what his reply was but his part in the thrill of it all video with the time chamber brothers song is a classic! Stay true Jamie!
He was always my favorite..since I was a little kid and saw the leap, It was the heaviest thing my 11 year old eyes had ever seen...Jamie was my favourite skater to this day after that 🤘😂
Man it’s wild to see Jamie still doing it and he kills it as always. Been watching him since 05’, makes me want to get back on the board, I miss the hell out of it. Much respect to “The Chief”.

Skateparks under freeways are such a vibe. 👌
It's not just the 49 tricks that is impressive. He did them all in one session.
