She is one of the few I have seen playing this smiling
ikrrrr
@@agamaz5650 yrrrr
Yes!
Well idk if Lang Lang played this but if he did I can guarantee you he smiled
It's just so nice to see someone smiling, isn't it?
she smiled the whole time. i’ve seen crazy gestures like lang lang and blank expressions like horowitz. But a simple consistent smile the whole time.. I love it. That’s what music is supposed to do.
Unbelievably fluid in the playing. Look at those fingers flowing through the keys just like a waterfall.
It's called Waterfall after all :D
@@evilskull2911 Its waterfall for them for the average joe its more like spider etude haha
This is actually an indication of a bad technique. If you look at better performances of this study, some even faster, they actually keep their hand fairly level. It's unsurprising she missed so many notes.
@@Manx123 Ummm no. You have no clue, obviously. There's NOTHING wrong with her tempo and you need very strong technique just to play this to speed. She didn't miss that many notes... I'm guessing you probably can't even tell me WHERE her misses were.
I never mentioned tempo. Tempo is mostly good, if a little uninventive
Mistakes: 0:03 0:49 1:24 A bunch around 1:37
It's actually not that many, I count.
I love how gentle her playing is and the fact that she doesn't attack the piano with her left hand even if it was meant to or not.
Oh, and on a side note: I’m amazed at how two different people can interpret this piece so differently. Look at Shishkin’s interpretation: his interpretation sounds so masculine whilst hers is just delicate and feminine. And I love them both.
Daniele Cocchi she smile like she on weed nigga
and also shes playing on a steinway whereas he played on a yamaha which has a much sharper piercing sound compared to the softer steinway
@@gervasseslosse9524 ive never came across such a comment in a video about a pianist 😂😂😫💀
@@gervasseslosse9524 ua-cam.com/video/2ZIpFytCSVc/v-deo.html
@@gervasseslosse9524 LMAO
I must have heard 50+ different versions of this etude, all perfectly executed, still I keep coming back to Natálie Schwamowá's rendition regardless of minor slip-ups that just can't obscure how uniquely sweet and sensitive it is.
It's quite cute indeed. However Cho seong jin is above in pretty much every way, be it technique to the smallest detail or interpretation.
I like Mei-Ting Sun, he plays it at an impressive speed and with such brilliance
I'm 32, with some practice I will play with her level of mastery at around the age of 176 give or take a few months
@Jaewon Shin haha nice
I'm 34 (like you now, 85' yay!), and I have to confirm your calculation is correct, because I have about the same result, between one and two centuries. I can't wait for being unfrozen from cryogeny. Thanks for relativizing my poor life of amateurship by piano. Happy New Year! Cheers.
Had me in the first half lmao
I love her playing. She just looks carefree, as if the etude was super easy. Brava!
Just for clarification, music isn’t about hitting the right notes. While I do agree that a competition has certain standards of technical proficiency to uphold, that shouldn’t be held 100% to the performer. She posted a video where she pulled the etude off extremely cleanly a year ago. It’s not like she didn’t practice and it shouldn’t take away from the overall musicality of the rendition. Every time I see comments that say that the performance was sloppy or that the right hand was lacking, it makes me sad that’s all that people care to point out. I mean seriously, we’re not deaf, we can hear the mistakes. We choose not to focus on them because it’s not what music is supposed to be about. Additionally, Natalie might not be the most technically accurate pianist but she’s filled with musicality. As a person who has been playing for 10 years now, I can safely say that playing a couple wrong notes isn’t what defines music.
K, but this is a competition which determines the winner based on the performances in that competition, in which accuracy matters.
@@Manx123 I couldn´t care less!! As long as I like the way the person plays the piece, I more than gladly omit minor inaccuracies.. now more than ever, way too often I miss the soul of the music piece, when I hear it played accurately by someone who is so to speak "perfect".. reminds me kinda of The Macropulos affair.. ELina Macropulos alias Emilia Marty is capable to sing any piece absolutely perfect and even though the wide public is stunned and praises her, Bertie, her great grandson (who doesn´t know it) tells her, when asked by her, if he liked her singing, he says that he didn´t cuz her singing is so perfect it hurts and she is bored while performing.. so along these lines is my mind..
I'm really good at the left hand
I'm pretty good at.....???
honestly her playing is so sexy but the left hand should be louder, melody needs to be super clean as an accompaniment to the arpeggios
@Frank I'm 19 bro
@Frank she's 19 now :)
@Frank still legal
Her hands look so graceful as they run up and down the keys. Its amazing!
She pleyed like angel !
Played, please
I love her smile and her finger movements. How can people with such a little hand play Chopin? Beautiful.
You play this Etude just wonderfully ! Amazing ! Horowitz said it was the most difficult of all of Chopin's Etudes. You nailed it !
She did not nail it. She made a lot of mistakes in the right hand.
Hmm from my point of view. op10 no2, op25 no6 y op25 no11
@@ilovemycatrussell9298 still sounding REALLY good
yes when it comes to play accurately, in tempo, and musically, 10.1 is the hardest of the etudes
@@ilovemycatrussell9298 You can’t name me a pianist who plays/played on stage as in practice room. It’s just impossible. She was really young then and she really nailed it. I could say that you just heard that mistake because you couldn’t hear every bright side of this performance or you are just jealous. 🤷🏻♂️ It’s not about hitting correct notes, everyone can achieve that, she gave us really unique performance with unique interpretation.
Like an angel touching the piano with the tip of her wing and a big smile on her face.
This is a really interesting interpretation, I've never heard this piece been played so soft and fluid, I quite like it! Also, really interesting technique!
But then ... she is so young! :) I'm amazed she went through this and actually applied, I'm following her for long time and I find it great.
Considering her play, well ... she made some mistakes. As of I know, you can't do any if you aim to succeed in this competition. Nothing at all with her interpretation. That's this competition, that's how it goes.
Amazing anyways. Her approach generally is very considerate and personal. I like it!
Bruh she plays all the good pieces, like my favorites
Despite a few mistakes, it was incredibly fluid and soft. there are some parts I wish she went a little bit more forte with the right hand but it's the closest to perfection one can be. Her interpretation is unique (the fluidity and sudden ease to softer dynamics) compared to how most of the contestant traditionally play this song.
She said in her interview that she tries not to hit the keys so much.
But it is not a song...
I think the dynamics are good. This is played nearly to perfection to me.
@@ottokarvonschnallenburg2572 eh semantics

A few missed notes but amazing regardless. Playing such a difficult piece in front of an audience is such an achievement to begin with already.
Incredible!
I really like how delicate she played it. It's very light. I love it.
Marvelous performance! No changes in the fingering! And - smaller hands to boot!
Extremely good. I like this interpretation. She doesn't go overboard with dynamics or anything, and the notes are all very clear. Not too much pedal either.
I don't mind about the mistakes, but I'm sure it hurt her since this was in a competition :(
Absolutely beautiful! Such suppleness in the hands, such flow, and such feeling.
Someone has already commented on the femininity of this performance. As opposed to more "masculine" renditions; I think particularly of Ashkenazy's legendary performance in Antwerp 1968, with that thunderous power in the left hand. What an awesome contrast in style. One wonders how Chopin himself might have played this! And Liszt.
I know there’s wrong notes but idc this is an amazing performance
In one world: great
I'm working on this piece right now, and it really is a grind. This is my favorite interpretation of it, it's so smooth, accurate, and it feels like a real waterfall because she doesn't hit the keys really hard. I hope to soon be able to play it as well as Natalie does. Awesome performance!!
@@stravinskyfan right, sorry! I just forgot :P
did you finally master the piece?
@@bludika Nope, I stopped playing it because I realized my technique wasn't quite there yet. I spent some time on some other stuff and I re-started it a week or two ago. Things are going much better this time!
@@navidfarkhondehpay1142 good luck!
@@bludika Thanks!
Enchanteur, enchanteresse!
it feels like falling in love
Her technique here is reminiscent of Valentina Lisita.
Its the pleasant continuity in her playing that makes it similar to lisitsa’s
I'M AMAZED NATALIE!
A really beautiful interpretation. A joy to listen to and watch.
This girl played Chopin op 10 no 1 was also strict tempo from beginning to end similar to Pollini style and szymon. We listened south Korea played Chopin op 10 no 1 was a little rubato tempo.
this is the most beautiful interpretation I have seen so far. I think she is amazing. hopefully ill be this good some day
i like seong jin cho's more but this one is awesome as well
even if she played a couple of keys wrong, she kept her smile.
Thats very good
Fantastic!
I just love her

Such beautiful technique!!
thank you
This is graceful technique, contrary to that of some other performers who play fast but choppy and struggling.
So beautiful sound

Don't pretend you enjoy the piece Natalie
how can you not enjoy this piece
Agamaz because its a fingerbreaker dude
Leukius Aemilius Paulus I actually love the way it feels
DimitrisKritas not rlly for me. I have big hands for a 15 yr old and I can stretch and basically do what I desire. My style is similar to liszt I guess. Tons of weird fingerings in my music books
Lol 2 pianos arguing hahah
She is a amazing pianist with splendid skill and wonderful technique and beautiful attire .
Her incomparable performance is very clear , inspirational , graceful and comfortable to the ear and the mind

So pretty
That was amazing!!
perfect technic
This reminds me of kai/ forest of piano
And she's in the same place that Kai played this... Did you notice?
Great!
Loved this interpretation, gorgeous tone colour but perhaps less movement of the wrist❤
Natálie, tvoje hra je tak perfektní a elegantní.

Прекрасно!
Skilled.
way better than I could do
She has small hands... 😭😭
You are liszt xD
I've seen a ten year old play this barely being able to reach the octave. It's crazy how much technique, the mind and good practice habits goes into playing this piece for people with small hands.
MusingsofaMusician k dude shut up
@@gervasseslosse9524 Do you not find it beautiful that she can play this despite the small hands? I find the girl in the video amazing because they put a lot of hard work in to learn such a difficult piece. She has to overcome more technical hurdles and have very good practice habits. Some other pianists include Wael Farouk, his hands are small and he has a hand disability, his hands cannot make a fist. Maxim Golubev is another great example of someone with small hands playing this very difficult piece. I think it should be celebrated! :)
@Ling Ling cringe
Holy moly! How many years does it take to be able to play this song up to speed?
めっちゃなめらかーーー!!

This oddly reminds me of Your Lie in April.

It’s wonderful how she can put such a wide smile on her face... despite missing a whole lot of notes. No wonder she didn’t pass the round.
Would you please show us how to do it better than her? YOUR interpretation. Oh wait, you are just a little narcissist who weren't loved by your parents, obviously.
@@GM-yb5yg a bit far
this is an incredible difficult piece to be able to play accurately, especially with a live audience and all the nerves that must come with that! I'm practicing this piece and it's tearing my willpower apart lol, so don't bash her for a couple missed notes, her performance is incredible
I’ve never heard a live performance of this etude that didn’t contain at least one finger slip. Stop comparing live competition performances to studio recordings.
@@GM-yb5yg thanks for reminding me of school with your answer
女钢琴家演奏这首曲目有一种别样的流畅与温婉…可能比男钢琴家更适合
Brava!!!
Bravo!!
Just 16 years old only
The musicality of this performance is a tier above every other rendition I've heard so far. Too bad these competitions de-emphasize musicianship in favor of athleticism (i.e., hitting every single note right - which, let's admit it, can be in part just a luck-of-the-moment thing).
뭘까요. 이 영혼이 정화되는 영상은. 빛의 파도가 치는 것 같네요.
Beautiful!
The Best
her right hand is like spider running the keyboard!
눈썹이 물결친다.! 이것은 재능이다!
NICE:D
ahh sweet antidote to the ashkenazy version. I live to dumpsterdive another day.
