In one word, maestoso!!!!! (I have watched this video repeatedly. A major recording label needs to give her a lucrative contract, but only for DVD videos! She must be seen to be fully appreciated. I love the way she is not trying to break speed and volume records; one can luxuriate in all the notes unmuddied and polished, as in maestro Claudio Arrau's immortal version on Seraphim Records. This blossom must not be allowed to wither and die from the grind of competing with other artists, as good as they may be in their own way.
One can get "burned-out" from hearing this most often performed and recorded piano concerto. Tchaikovsky, dubbed "The Symphonic Apostle of Gloom," was ANYTHING BUT gloomy in this charming, joyful, spirit- lifting masterpiece.😃😃 His student, Rachmaninoff, who was also subject to bouts of severe depression between intense periods of creation, was similarly dubbed "The Master of Melancholy and Bard of Intimate Moods." What are the odds that the world will ever be blessed with a teacher/student music pairing like this?!!!!😃😃😃😃
I sit here and can't help wondering what Tchaikovsky would have thought of this, to me, magnificent perforformance, Natalie is totally involved and expresses such joy in playing this master piece.
During those glorious passages where the woodwinds are employed, it sounds like birds positioned from their perches just off-stage have become so enthralled with the score that they are singing along with it, as the spirit of the music moves them, in a serenade of other-worldy utterances. Franz Joseph Haydn's last words were: "And I was just beginning to learn how to use the woodwinds!" Peter I. Tchaikovsky brought this aspiration to fruition in this masterpiece! All hail the Divine Creator of all things beautiful!"
Except for the fact, I was enthralled watching her face and her movements as she felt the music, this is a recording, I could listen to with my eyes closed to absorb the pure enjoyment of the sounds! I wish the man who owned this house was still with us, for he would have loved this!
I wonder if Caterina Valente has ever seen this video! My fave of Natalie's many solo performance videos is the Chopin Scherzo #2, Chopin Institute ch. Audio is too weak, but still well worth viewing. I wish my mother had lived long enough to have seen this video. I took her to many piano recitals over the years.
Your comment about your mother, touched my heart. You were a good son. Today is my mother's birthday(stepmother) but she is the only one I knew. She loved country music and so many of Webb Pierce, Ferlin Husky, Faron Young, Kitty Wells, and many others from that era. I was never able to take her anywhere. She did finally go to visit Nashville, with her brother in her early 70s. I have never been to a piano recital, or many other concerts of any kind. I saw Kitty Wells, the Wright brothers, she was married to Johnny I believe. Hank Williams, Jr when he was very young, I saw at a high school in Va. Ernest Tubb, Narvel Felts, Gene Watson, are a few I saw at county fairs. My tickets for John Fogerty , I have purchased for June 6th, I am super excited about.
Appreciate the comments! I just left a comment on that new Ray Price video BeMisty posted, which I notice you also liked. Of all the videos I have recommended, it gratifies me the most that you are so impressed by this one, since it is so far off the beaten path of country. But I was 100% sure you would like it! But nowhere NEAR as nuch as you do! Great music is great music. All these immortal classical music composers fed off gypsy tunes and the folk music of their era to embellish and build into more profound large scale symphonic masterpieces. So it is all tied in. If Tchaikovsky had been around when Ray Price was in his prime, he very likely would have been one of his biggest fans! And for all we know, Ray Price may have loved Tchaikovsky! The best part is that I doubt if you would ever have randomly encountered this video, whereas with the country, you already knew of much I have recommended, and would most likely have eventually found everything else on your own without me. Great music, and an appreciation and respect for God, are the greatest "ties that bind!"
After watching this video for the umpteenth time, and reading all of the comments, I realized that no one has thanked P. I. Tchaikovsky for com- posing this concerto, and more importantly, thanking God for giving him the power to do so.

Yes. With what this stellar young Czechoslovkian lass brings to this performance, it is easy to understand why this is the most popular piano concerto ever composed; and this assessment is based on only hearing the first movement!
What is astonishing here is the clarity and the precision. This performance recalls me my other favorite one, that is by Arthur Rubinstein. The speed also is quite correct, a little bit slower than the most of current famous pianists, but IMHO the right one. The vast majority todays pianists overspeed to show their virtuoso, and spoil this composition messing up with overuse and abuse of pedals. Astonishing is the right word that comes to my mind. Brava bravissima. Adorable.
Sergio Bonfiglio I agree, I think many pianists play some pieces much too fast so you are left feeling breathless and almost anxious at tbe end. Music is not a race! This was beautiful.

Dear Javier Tan: Thanks for your kind assistance. I watched the 2nd round and was impressed. For some reason the comments section is NOT dis abled for the videos of the finals.(???) Anyway, it was nice to finally have new material from Natalie to view. Her Rachmaninoff 3; first movement randomly popped up, and I was elated. It was ever so gracefully and meticulously played, but lacked the fire I have seen from her, even in mere studio practice type videos. It seemed like she was hold- ing back. The male prize winner with a Russian sounding last name, but who was not listed as a Russian, also was underplaying this mighty warhorse. Perhaps for a reason. Also, the finals videos had weak audio which needs to be amped up. Thanks again!☺
I personally found the orchestra in the competition rather awful. I am also still wondering how Natalie only got 4th. The participant who got 3rd performed one of the most dismal Tchaikovsky 1 I have ever heard. The winner of the competition also did not perform the Rach concerto with as much clarity and many of his phrases sounded very murky and unclear.

What joy! A master of not-rushing-it. The little pauses here and there add so much. She is never agitated in her manner. This is beautifully done. And I grew up listening to Eugene Istomin, with Eugene Ormandy and The Philadelphia Orchestra, perform this masterpiece. Brava!
Through her fluency, knowledge of and respect for the score, and the God-given magic with which she was imbued, Ms. Schwamova turns the first movement of this mighty warhorse written for the king of percussive instruments into a heavenly, majesterial 2O minute uninterrupted bird song.

THIS is a sui generis lesson in how to make a percussive instrument SING! For those who love her smile: "Beauty is POWER and the SMILE is its sword!" John Ray
I love your performance. The accuracy, dynamics, rhythm, and everything else is just.... up there. The way you express each section of the concierto is what makes this so unique, as well as how accurate your hands are in this concierto. It's hard to learn something like this and you need months to make it clear that you are ready to try it out with an orchestra and then master it. However, don't do the same mistake I did, don't believe you would be able to learn any classical song piece in just a day because I tried to do so once and I had everything but one element to make this song complete which happens to be a major requirement to the music. In vocal, text and notes are the biggest elements and if your missing one of them, you're out. If you forget some notes on a concert which would effect the orchestra, you're out.
I agreed enough with the essence and spirit of your remarks to give you a thumbs-up, but think you exaggerated somewhat regarding the issue of "being out" by hitting wrong notes, which the legendary Arthur Rubinstein was wont to do, and all pianists inevitably fall victim to. The key is to minimize them. Having watched many of Ms. Schwamova's videos, she seems to be adept at avoiding them. I daresay we are all itching to see her play the next two movements of this concerto. I would think this should have already transpired given the level of favorable response she has garnered thus far from her admirers. Respectfully.....
For you lovers of the opening theme of this concerto, I most strongly recommend you download the pop standard hit song "Tonight We Love" by Caterina Valente, "The International Songbird."
Thanks for giving us heartfelt music, no theatrics! Thank you SO MUCH! Very best to you, heaps of success! The hands are unbelievably supple, such an example to all who play (or try to) play the piano. It is a true pleasure to watch.
I love this performance. However, "theatrical" performances can also be heartfelt. Many examples exist on you tube. And I have been in the audience of many over the decades.

Staggering! Amazing, Gorgeous..not enough superlatives to express the immense power and beauty of Natalie's playing. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with the World..What a Shining Light you are!
Whatever you wrote, I am sure it is good! One day the geniuses be- hind all this technology will provide you tube with systems that will translate all languages into one's native tongue in the blink of an eye.
Spent a few hours watching your videos. The progress is fantastic. It has been a long time since you last uploaded anything... I subscribed with hope that you will upload content once more. Thank you for the fantastic performances. I'm aware that all the joy you can get from such excellency is backed by hours of pain and dedication, and just seeing the end result being so good almost feels unfair in a strange way. Keep it up!
All of the melodic geniuses who wrote for the piano stressed that the primary objective of playing the instru- ment was to make it sing. From the way Natalie Schwamova plays, she is a NIGHTINGALE OF THE KLAVIER!!!!!!! "NIGHTINGALES" by Robert Bridges (1844-1930) Beautiful are the snow capped mountains from whence we come. Bright are the fruit- ful valleys, the sparkling streams, and the babbling brooks from whence we learn our songs. Deep within the moon- lit woods we blithely wander there. Among God's heavenly trees and flowers we softly seren- ade the sweet night air. Our songs are the voice of gladness that haunt men's dreams. We sing of hopes forbid- den and profound, and court moon- beams. Alone, aloud, into the rap- tured ears of men, midst showers of stars, we pour our rhapsodic, golden throated secrets throughout the glen. Then, within these sweet-springing meads and ethereal bursting boughs, as night is with- drawn, we dream, while the vast feathered choir of the day welcomes the dawn. (Edited by Milton T. Moore, Jr.)
It's my pleasure to see Natalie's growth as a pianist.

posted it at 6:26 a.m. PST April 24,

krása, krása!!! nádherné dílo a grandiozně zahrané... musí být úžasné něco takového hrát...krása!
You're playing is absolutely beautiful! Completely captivating!
Well done!
An astonishing performance as always ! The drummer sitting on your left was quiet enchanted !
I collected cats and
wanted to name one
Daniella because of
the beauty of the name, but unfortunately I lost
my ability to keep collecting before I could use the name.
It's actually a little creepy.
I love the ease, expresional playing with clarity!
God bless you
Tchaikovsky, or
somebody, should
have transcribed
this piano concerto for violin
years ago. It's never too late!
AND LIKEWISE, HIS VIOLIN CONCERTO FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA.😊
I will be playing this concerto with my high school orchestra this coming January and I'm beyond excited! Self-taught after only a year of playing and I keep challenging myself with difficult repertoire. You're incredible and look so happy as you play! Great rendition.
Yo that is amazing
So much passion, grace, and art... BZ!
Excelente!! Cuanto talento!! Felicitaciones Natalie!
Natalie, so young and so Brilliant!
This is beautifully done. And I grew up listening to Eugene Istomin, with Eugene Ormandy and The Philadelphia Orchestra, perform this masterpiece. Brava!
Through her fluency, knowledge of and respect for the score,
and the God-given magic with which she was imbued, Ms. Schwamova turns the first movement of this mighty warhorse written for the king
of percussive instruments into a
heavenly, majesterial
2O minute uninterrupted bird song.
Natalie you are an absolute star. Thank you for sharing this incredible performance.
BRAVO!
Grand ! Magnificent performance!
Impressive technical control, precision, brightness, musicality and feelings, even often, with the smile: the great class !
Or when the music, even very difficult, remains a pure pleasure... It is unique !
Thank you for this beautiful present. (excuse me for my poor english ...)
I couldn't have said it
better myself; D'accord to the trillionth power!
C'est magnifique!
Love your work Natalie!!!
You look like you're having fun whilst showing confidence and absolute mastery!
Como um grande fã de Tchaikovsky tenho que dizer ela toca muito bem é perfeita harmonia cada nota feita por ela muito perfeito.
I LOVE this name, IF
it actually is one.
Tchaikovsky's writing for the clarinet ALONE in this concerto is worth more than the entire output of someone
like Claudio Monte-
verdi!
Ce magnifique!
Throw roses on
the stage!😃😃😃
Heaven fell silent
as God's angels themselves were listening in as this immortal recording was being made!😃😃
I believe you!

You're an inspiration. So much passion in you. Pure genius. 😊 keep it up
With her level of integrity; devotion;
skill and precision;
and pure genius;
had she chosen to
go into the field of
neurosurgery, I
would sign on to
have Ms. Schwamova
operate on my brain
if, God forbid, I ever
required it
Milton Moore Your way of praising her is so unique! I've never seen this sort of complement which would be a bit rough but might be the highest form of praising someone. Haha. She would laugh and be happy if she ever saw this.
For Sangyong
Park: What a pleasant surprise
to find your MOST
poignant and im-
pressive comment, particularly since
moments before I
replied to your
general comment
regarding the merits of Natalie's
playing. What a
charming coincidence! I revi-
sit this channel
now and then to
re-watch the video
and read the new
comments. Thank
you so very much.
😄😃😄😃😄😃😄
(I imagine she has
friends and professional associates glean
these pages and
provide her with
the best comments, to shield her from any possible upsetting and
negative remarks.
People can really
get cruel and vulgar in the you
tube comment
pages, as you
are undoubtedly
aware, although
I have never found
anything of this
nature directed
toward Natalie,
thankfully.)
Many years ago a music critic wrote of
a pianist whose magical hands moved like Natalie's:
"The best pair of hands in the best pair
of gloves!"
this is quite lovely, your expressions fit perfectly with the emotional aspect of this peace...good work!
Allegro non troppo e molto maestroso, allegro con spiritu
I'm so glad I lived long enough to witness this.
Me too, thanks to you!
Bravo Natalie ... I've been watching your videos , so talented and stunning ♥ I enjoy your playing a lot !
i really really enjoy your playing because it's very unique!
Yes! She has that
"X factor." Everybody
can sense it, except for
those creatures that
as of 12/17/16 have
given her 5 thumbs down!
Except that she had the self-control and discipline not to bang her way through.
For Javier Tan:
I have been thinking the same
thing but lacked
the nerve to say
it.👍👏👏👏👏😃
(His facial contortions and
grimacing are
what REALLY
bother me.)
She is so very talented, this is just so beautiful and perfect!!! she inspires me to get better
Does anyone know where I could see her play?
Currently in Prague (maybe?). I saw her last in Rudolfinum.
MineBlocker65 lucky you, I would get the chills if I heard her play lol
Carlosmp20 That was the second time I heard her. First, it was in the Martinů Hall, but I want to see her again and again... It's like a drug, but without bad effects.
MineBlocker65 lol
Perhaps other
brilliant young goddesses of the
piano may come
forth and share
in the glory of
occupying the
same high, prestigious perch as Ms. Schwamova, but
NOBODY shall ever come along and knock her off
it! A pianist to be
admired for all time!
Yeah, I want to become just like her !

For another shining example of pianism at its most elegant and profound, Google Alexander Sinchuk playing the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
I hope you achieve your goal.

She loves what she does - playing phantastic music.
I'm in love; absolute pleasure to watch!
Incrível. parabéns ♡

TION!!! Bring on the

C’est mon Concert Piano preferé, merci pour l’interpretation!
Ademas de la excelente ejecución de esta magnifica obra, da gusto ver al interprete disfrutarla sin ningún tipo de tensión, muchas felicitaciones Natalie! 3
She smiles at times as if to say "this part is just so wonderful" (not "I am so cool")
Special artist.
Absolutely Beautiful !. Marvellous Playing !. A Joy ! . Greetings From Scotland.
I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THIS YOUNG GIR,SUCH ARTISTRY,BORN TO BE A MUSICIAN,KEEP IT UP!!! CONGRATULATIONS
THIS is a sui generis lesson in how to make a
percussive instrument SING!
For those who love her smile:
"Beauty is POWER
and the SMILE is
its sword!"
John Ray
I never heard that about a smile.
I agreed enough with the essence and
spirit of your remarks to give you a thumbs-up, but think you exaggerated somewhat regarding the issue of "being out" by
hitting wrong notes,
which the legendary
Arthur Rubinstein was wont to do, and
all pianists inevitably
fall victim to. The key
is to minimize them.
Having watched many of Ms. Schwamova's videos,
she seems to be adept at avoiding them. I daresay we are all itching to see
her play the next two
movements of this
concerto. I would think this should have already transpired given the
level of favorable response she has garnered thus far from her admirers.
Respectfully.....
You have really good technique. I hope I can play the piano like you someday.
I love your smile ! Your performance is briliant ! Coungratulations ! 😍👏
Divina!!!! eres la mas grande. un beso desde Monterrey NL MÉXICO
For you lovers of the
opening theme of
this concerto, I most
strongly recommend you download the pop standard hit
song "Tonight We Love" by Caterina Valente, "The International Songbird."
And I have been
in the audience of
many over the decades.
Maravillosa pianista, maravillosa interpretación. Felicidades y gracias NS por compartir.
She resides on

unique few who are characterized by the term:
"Poetry in Motion."
Una de las mejores interpretaciones que he visto de este concierto, buen tempo y un piano muy expresivo. Hace tiempo que no veo nuevos videos de Natalie :(
Oh my goodness! Her playing is stupendous!
Staggering! Amazing, Gorgeous..not enough superlatives to express the immense power and beauty of Natalie's playing. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with the World..What a Shining Light you are!
You're fantastic! Excellent interpretation
I'll bet in her mind she was thinking..."boy this is way better than sitting at my piano at home by myself"!! What a lovely young lady! Props to her.
Props to your wit! One of the best remarks so far.

I KNEW, it was you who replied!
Awesome. This deserves about 20 million views.
Гениальное исполнение, шедевр искусства, наслаждение и видеть, и слушать Natalie Schwamova !!!

it is good! One day the geniuses be-
hind all this technology will

I had hoped to play this with an orchestra, but did not practice enough. She is terrific.
beautiful!
Yes!!!!! And for this
reason I'm using up
far too much of my
time re-watching this
video!
Love this Concerto. Amazing performance!
For me, very near the all time best pianists...
Keep it up!
GREAT! WHAT A PRODIGIOUSLY PRECOCIOUS TALENT!
All of the melodic
geniuses who wrote for the piano stressed that the primary
objective of playing the instru-
ment was to
make it sing. From
the way Natalie
Schwamova plays,
she is a
NIGHTINGALE OF
THE KLAVIER!!!!!!!
"NIGHTINGALES"
by
Robert Bridges
(1844-1930)
Beautiful are the
snow capped
mountains from
whence we come.
Bright are the fruit-
ful valleys, the
sparkling streams,
and the babbling
brooks from whence we learn
our songs. Deep
within the moon-
lit woods we
blithely wander
there. Among
God's heavenly
trees and flowers
we softly seren-
ade the sweet
night air. Our songs are the voice of gladness
that haunt men's
dreams. We sing
of hopes forbid-
den and profound,
and court moon-
beams. Alone,
aloud, into the rap-
tured ears of men,
midst showers of
stars, we pour our
rhapsodic, golden
throated secrets
throughout the
glen. Then, within
these sweet-springing meads
and ethereal
bursting boughs,
as night is with-
drawn, we dream,
while the vast
feathered choir
of the day welcomes the dawn.

Her best passage
work is like a speeded up time-
lapse photography film of the unfolding of a blooming flower.
WOW! exactly!
Your playing makes my heart sing!!
You make this look too easy and you have fun while you do it. Good for you.
... de ensueño !!! es mágica !!! ... 💜🍁💚 ...
