  • Glasgow Marathon 1986
Then Britain’s second marathon, 8210 finishers, although down from 11 thousand the previous year. The first boom was now past its peak. 21st September and ideal conditions.
Paid £15 for this personalised video and was delighted with the result. Professionally packaged with commentary by Jim White, who now appears on Sky Sports on Transfer Window Day. This was a Home Countries International, which was always fiercely contested, on a 3 to run 2 to score on a cumulative time basis. England just beat us by 17 seconds, helped in no small part by runaway leader and former Fell Running Champion, making his marathon debut, Kenny Stuart 2:14:04. Dic Evans ran a sensational PB for Wales, placing second in 2:17:57.

My second last marathon. Jimmy Saville and his squad passed me and I joked if he could fix it for us to get a bus to the finish, little did we know.
