Shame TB never played Project Zomboid, as he refused to until it left Early Access. I don't know if it's ever going to leave early access, it doesn't really matter at this point though as the game is phenomenal and without a doubt _the_ best zombie game out there.
At this point PZ is pretty much a fully fledged game that is just being continuously updated. It doesn't really feel like an early access game anymore.
I love the walking dead but im sorry, this game was absolutely terrible, there was a moment when I was out of ammo and surrounded by walkers, I thought I was fucked but then it went into the minigame where the walker grabs on to you and you have to stab it for every individual walker, I literally cleared out 15 walkers just by individually stabbing each of them, and they all just lined up like they were waiting their turn, I suggest just sticking to the tell tale walking dead game instead of getting this game, it was a huge disappointment
LOL, at "If Activision puts this on sale fpr $10". They won't even put old CoDs or old games nobody is thinking about, such as Singularity (Who's going to get it for +20$ when there are so many more cheaper and arguably better options?)
Szabo Csaba No. 1. The dumbing down of video games is not objectively bad. This is from your personal perspective. Developers do have something to gain from making games more accessible. 2. Regenerative health is not objectively a dumbing down. It offers a different method for health management and can offer more fluid gameplay when compared to games without it with similar difficulty levels. 3. With regenerative health, it can be argued that regenerative health can offer a more immersive action orientated experience by eliminating the need to look for oddly placed medic kits or other misplaced paraphernalia. 3.5. Certain types of games (like many fast paced shooters) work best with regenerative health.
Cory The term dumbing down according to wikipedia "Describes the deliberate diminishment of the intellectual level of the content of video games, in our case. The term dumbing down originated [...], to mean: "revise so as to appeal to those of little education or intelligence." I don't think its my personal opinion that this is bad. How are you supposed to manage a resource which you have an infinite amount of? in this case, health. Plenty of role-playing games can be found for those who seek immersion. If a more action orientated experience is what we are looking for, might as well go back to Quake. Yes they do, sadly the fast paced shooting is often ruined by having to stop every few seconds to regenerate.
Szabo Csaba How are you supposed to manage a resource which you have an infinite amount of? in this case, health. You manage the timing and efficiency of your regenerating.
Cory That of course is true in an ideal world, however, I've never seen any footage where that has been done in practice in a fast paced FPS. Smart health management used to be necessary, now it is just an option. That means more people at least tried to manage their health and it was useful to do so. Now, the health system is just there as another feature to the game instead of the crucial element is should be. I guess the regenerative health could be considered just as crucial by some people =. Arguing about this doesn't seem to go anywhere though, since the health system is based on personal preference rather than facts.
mouse acceleration was implemented because of the old ball mouses, to make big movements while not moving the mouse too much. the quicker you move the mouse the more it accelerates.. slow movements are precise, while fast gets you along way around.
I played this game on the X-Box 360 and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was a fantastically immersive game and it had a fair amount of choice built into it. To be fair, it wasn't perfect, yet it was a very nice game that I spent hours playing. I would recommend it for console gameplay, yet I am unable to recommend it on PC, as I have not played that version.
24:32 You can charge your attacks though, hold the attack button and you'll do more damage. The pipe takes 3 hits, but charged it takes 1 hit, and one non-charged hit.
Mouse acceleration is actually not the same as mouse smoothing. It makes the cursor/crosshair move a larger distance when you move the mouse faster. it's a way to be precise while still being able to turn around quickly when needed. I've only seen some snipers use it. they play with a really low sensitivity to be precise. but with mouse acceleration they can still turn around when they have to(without lifting the mous 5 times)
There should be a mod that makes the sound more prevalent (increase radius of noise), make the melee combat playable, optimize it better, remove mouse acceleration, add HD textures and put in some things like breaking windows to get supplies inside but attract walkers. I can already think of a name! "Make Survival Instincts Playable"
Also, mouse acceleration does NOT "compensate and create smooth mouse movement". Mouse acceleration moves the pointer significantly faster in proportion when you're moving the mouse fast. The idea is to make it not neccessary to lift up the mouse and reposition it when you move the pointer a long distance. The thing that tries to create smooth mouse movement is actually called "Mouse Smothing". Who would have thought?
If I recall correctly the main characters in one of the Resident Evil games were infected with the virus and one of the game mechanics was using medicine to suppress transformation.
With good enough modders out there, they could probably turn TWD: SI into an actual survival game. Imagine being able to look for supplies (food, water), being able to explore every buildings and being able to drive. Seriously, seeing the mods for some games, they could most likely perfect that for this game.

"Hey, we have to find a way to block this area of the level! Throw in a semi!"
I think it would be awesome if instead of TB saying "an issue I have with this game is..." he said in it's place "the main bugaboo I have is..." I would love him forever!
Never knew you could hop that fence before. Also, instead of fighting your way out through that car you moved, you can use a me lee weapon to bust down one o the fences. I also feel a bit saddened at how you didn't get the lead pipe or the food to trade for ammo.
The Last of Us does not focus on food, drink, etc. as an object for survival, however. Ration cards in the game are the currency, ammo is more of a survival thing. It's more of a stealth/action cover-based, zombie-based shooter (jeez, what a mouthful)
The reson for the intense FPS loss might be, that they didn't bother implementing LOD. LOD = Level of Detail It means that objects that are far away get replaced with similar objects that have less polygon detail and texture resolution to reduce their rendering cost. If they don't do that the computer has to render every roach in full detail even if it's 1 mile away. Making correct LOD models takes time and effort since you sometimes (or mostly) have to make a model and its textures 4 times.
I think the whole Titan (2) thing means his second monitor (display #2) is hooked up to his Titan, not that he has 2 titans. The way I see it, though, if you want Titan performance, get 2 GTX660ti cards in SLI. If you want better than titan, get the gigabyte overclocked 660ti's. Same performance, $400 cheaper. Xfire HD7950s will do the job too if you're from the AMD camp.
also the random road stops are the same much of the time and notice the gas station guy said he could have gas for a ride but you didnt actually have to take him
Bought it for 20 bucks on steam. Very atmospheric. Especially in the hospital. I was able to move past most problems, like the scripted zombies. Finished it in just under 4 hours. The ending however, was silly. I won't spoil it, but basically, it involved a massive 50 cal MG with infinite bullets and no overheat, and an infinite spawn of zombies. Yeah.
I believe that mouse acceleration is meant to emulate the thumbstick movement (the harder you pull, the quicker it actually turns), however why would you want that with a mouse is beyond me...
You know why TellTale's TWD game has gameplay? Because there are choices. The game is based around tough decisions: leave someone behind, shoot or use melee weapon, etc. Gameplay does not always come from the game mechanics, but from the way they are used. TellTale's TWD was a fun game, and I did stick around through the entire season and I still think it's a game, not some kind of movie. No TB, that car breaking down thing isn't a great idea... tech lesson: Cars(especially old ones) overheat when you're driving slowly(or even idling!) for a long time, because there's not enough air coming into the radiator, or when you let it idle too long. They don't just overheat when you're driving on the freeway, even if it's warm. Also, when it does overheat, you don't really need new coolant afaik, just let it cool down. FIX YER GAME ACTIVISION!
The Last Stand Series was the best flash-game zombie-survival series I've ever played. Especially the last one, I feel like this game took some of that..

Yeah but the way that the original Walking Dead game had it implemented was more in a story element way, and less in a gameplay way. Like in Resident Evil 1, according to the story, being bitten infects you, but during gameplay you get bit and it doesn't matter.
I actually enjoyed the trailer park sequence, I jumped on the car instead of pushing it and the alarm went off. I think that's a little more realistic in terms of all of the zombies suddenly being alerted.
Mouse acceleration is NOT smoothing the movement - that's mouse smoothing. Acceleration is basically increasing the mouse speed according to how far you move your house, the speed increasing the more you move. It's horribly inaccurate - on Apple computers, it's on by default for example. In Windows, you can choose the acceleration.
Gratz, TB. You did what I could not do - play this game for more than five minutes. You can see the potential of this game was thrown out the window due to Activision's deadline demand.

Well this game was supposed to be made for a controller console, and this game was made really fast, so I think its good for the time the put in to it.
zombies appearing out of nowhere? Sounds like season 2 all over again.

For all the bad this game did (Though it had to be rushed), I found out about TB and Angry Joe because of it
The voice acting by Norman Reedus is very well done.
@35:10, One thing he missed is the one zombie that you can literally see drop out of the air as it spawns.
So, this is just a bad version of state of decay?
*Well...*
Also - maybe it's just the FOV - but the camera makes it seem as though the protagonist is like, 4' tall or so.
State of decay is really what this game tried to be, in first person view of course.

I lol'd at "Bioclock".
Same
Telltale knows how to make a good zombie game ;D
Also this game doesn't have the option to choose the levels you want to explore because the traveling system is determinant.

I'm 100% sure that if they were given 6 monts extra time that this game would be amazing for the zombie survival genre.

It's about time. It's an amazing mechanic from a flash game, and when well implemented can be a good feature.
Apparently, it's Infernal engine. How appropriate. I actually thought they've heavily modified Telltale's engine they used for their games.
I loved the stealth aspect and the scavenging as well, and it game a very realistic feeling and caused me to be quite cautious, and I really liked this game on my console. :)
Try State of Decay. Developed by Undead Labs. It's great and the only REAL survival game I've played in a while.
I've already played State of Decay. That game was fantastic, and I was constantly watching out for the special infected that could kill instantly.
climbing ladders was a major feature in the trailer
I think they should have gave deryl a necklace and then add smaller squirrel collectables to it as you find...like in the show!
