  • On Saturday 13th January 2024, Locomotive Services Ltd ran its "Ayr Extension" railtour to Barassie, topped and tailed by 86101 "Sir William A Stanier FRS" and 87002 "Royal Sovereign". The tour only went as far as Barassie due to the ongoing situation with Ayr station hotel restricting the use of Ayr station. We see the train stood at Glasgow Central, before taking the train to Kilwinning to watch it passing there. On returning to Glasgow we see it departing ECS for Polmadie. While it was at Polmadie, we travel to Uddingston. The tour returned to Central in the meantime and departed at 1611, passing Uddingston at 1623.
I had a great day out and met ChopperNeill98 at Kilwinning, Christopher Tyre Videography at Central and RC55 at Uddingston.

Excellent video. Many years ago, my grandparents used to live in Johnstone and I remember catching this train from Johnstone to Glasgow Central and then staying on it back down to Euston. Of course, back in those days the Ayr line was not electrified so it was hauled by a 47 from Glasgow to Ayr. Happy memories! 👍
