I just gotta say, you’re hands down my favorite DIY prop maker. Your videos are very well done, high quality, and very informative. And your props all look fantastic!
You have taught me so much for my porch haunt since we don’t have a yard to do a haunt in my porch is turning out so great better then the neighboring houses around us. Please keep up your tutorials, I love how everything your videos have in them are well explained and materials are accessible to most and affordable too, your awesome thank you so much
Great build! It inspires me to get around to the fence I've been blowing off for years. BTW, if one has access to a table saw and the time, ripping your own 1x2 furring strips out of wider boards can yield a far better product than precut pieces.
If you want to make any quantity of fence a drill press is essential and taking the time to make a jig is even better. Pre drill everything! Great video
oh, plastic finials... hmmmmmm (thanks for posting the website) we have a nice fence we made by reworking some wooden garden fencing but it might be time for an upgrade
WOW YOU MAKE A MAZING MODELS YOU ARE A GENIUS I LIKE SO MUCH YOUR PROPS CONGRATULATIONS BROTHER YOU TEACH ME MORE THINGS THANKS YOUR IDEAS HELP ME SO MUCH
I made the fence connectors, had to increase the size in the X and Y directions. X direction was increased to 105% and Y direction was increased to allow my fences slide in. The hole distorted a tad but the 1/2" PVC slid in and no noticeable wiggle. I cracked one of the straight connector after twisting the post a little to much. I had printed other finials so i used them this year
Those finials really bump up the production value, looks fantastic. The corners are brilliant, so practical. Your builds never cease to amaze me, excellent ideas and work. I'm hoping to do something this like atop a very low foam faux capped brick wall. We have a very shallow front yard, just long enough to "bury" our dead, and this will help it look so much more realistic. Thanks for another great video.
Again, great build... I like how well the fence came together and you were able to quickly make the texture and color... That's usually the hard part. It really adds that extra level of detail/reality that maybe you don't notice if it's not there, but sells it when it is there. And now you can't imagine it without it being there! For my own curiosity, not a suggestion: The concept of these fences in the cemetery, I thought the fence would surround the whole crypt? And maybe not...
Great job, especially with the fine details. I do not have a 3D printer, but I am sure there are other possibilities available to make the finials and connectors. Thanks for sharing your awesome inspiration.
Anther great video, Derek! I’m interested it learning about your planning and concept phase of your builds after watching this series. Would you mind showing us concept sketches, materials selection/shopping for materials on a future build?
Ughh. If only I had more time. Definitely doing this next year. I am going to do an entire walkway fence with this technique. Thank you for sharing your brain trust.
Pound some rebar into the ground to help stabilize, and then you'll have to determine the angle of your slope to make some kind of joint to connect the front to the side.
As always...Amazing tutorial. I have incorporated many of your techniques into my builds. Any inexpensive finial suggestions for those of us who don't have 3D printers?
Dropped by your haunt today (we live in Woodland Hills) !! I promise we are NOT stalkers, just HUGE fans of your amazing talent. It was wonderful to see it in person and I took a few pics for inspiration too. Just beautiful work.
I like the finial reference you got! My dad and I made a Dracula tombstone based on the ones from CastleVania 2 Simon's Quest and Super CastleVania 4. The lettering for Dracula's name was based on some used on monuments in Romania for the real Vlad Tepes Dracula. I also purchased a portrait of Vlad from a person who lives in Romania. It turned out pretty cool!
You would happen to be selling the 3D model for these would you? And if so do you only have corner joining pieces? Not looking to do this for a crypt but to enclose my front yard and some landscaping, about 200 feet in total with a few different angles, 45, 90 and 180. Also what was you spacing between the tall and short posts?
I just "finished" my second cemetery haunt fence and my finial tops (old halloween whistles) are showing their age. Do you have a ballpark feeling of how much it cost to 3D print your finials?
Prusa i3 Mk3+. It’s a bit more than others and you have to assemble it yourself, but it’s the best printer I’ve ever used and is extremely consistent with minimal upkeep.
Am I the only one who wants more, longer length videos? Great technique, as always.
Noted!
I think you have discovered the mass produced rusting technique that I needed.

I have always wanted to have bars on my windows. Not for security but for how cool it looks. Now I can, thank you. 😊

Love the corner pieces for easy breakdown/storage. Will be stealing that idea! :)

Awesome. I use a nail gun with Brad nails to secure my pipes. 3d printing will totally change how we build stuff!! Looks awesome
Love your videos! You're a genius!
Thank you!
I wouldn't mind seeing you dressing it up. 🙂

Wonderful addition to your haunt. Great that it can store flat.
That really looks like a wrought iron fence!

You’d think, but because space it limited in New Orleans they only wrap the front on most of them.
awesome work man. Looks amazing!

Awesomeness once again! Absolutely love the printed finials and corners!🤘

I'm blown away by how easy you make everything look
Great job Derek!
The finials look so authentic! Great design on those, and the corner pieces are so nice as well! Great addition to the crypt!
I definitely going to try this for next year
Very realistic Derek!
3D printer...damn! Looks awesome!!
GREAT!!

That fence looks fantastic, creepy and realistic. Thank you so much for sharing 🎃💀🦇🪦
Incredible!
Very impressed by how much realism those finials lend. The corner brackets are really clever.
Very clever on the finials and corners. Looks awesome. 🪦⚰
Awesome build to go along with the Awesome crypt. I love your videos and all the great projects you and Mrs VanOaks make. ❤
Awesome idea!!! ❤
Just great Derek
Thanks, Harry!
You crushed this Derek! I love the metal texture. I’m totally trying that paint/water technique soon!
I am thinking of making a fence just like this! But what can I do when my lawn is sloped/on a hill?
Pound some rebar into the ground to help stabilize, and then you'll have to determine the angle of your slope to make some kind of joint to connect the front to the side.
you have an amazing mind to come up with these ideals. Love them all

Kingmetals.com have plastic ones that are great.
@@VanOaksProps Did not know about this source. Thank you.

Another fabulous quick and simple Halloween project from the mind of Derek!
I absolutely love this! Great job
I saw your IG post and was wondering where the corner brackets came from. I really need to buy a 3D printer.
Great video for a newbie thank you! What’s the two different lengths for your PVC pipe? Thanks again!
Thank you! I don’t recall and I’ve since sold it.

Not looking to do this for a crypt but to enclose my front yard and some landscaping, about 200 feet in total with a few different angles, 45, 90 and 180. I am. Check out my etsy shop vanoaksprops.etsy.com. The spacing is 3" between tall/short posts.
@@VanOaksProps thank you
I've always wondered, would a spade drill bit work the same as a forstner bit?
Yes it would.
Love your viseos. How much distance did you have between the tall and short post? What were the dimensions of the fence H-W-D?
I don't recall, but I want to say the front face of the mausoleum/crypt was 26-28 inches wide.
Do you sell your 3D Code files?
I do. There’s a link in the video description.
Nice build. Btw Came by the other night to see the cemetery and was sad that the mausoleum’s ghost wasn’t haunting! Is it only the weekends for that?
Unfortunately there’s been a technical issue and I haven’t been able to resolve it.
Do you by chance have those printed end 90° files supplied somewhere ?
etsy.me/42knILM is where you'll find them. They're included with the finial 3d model.
@@VanOaksProps thank you !!
I just "finished" my second cemetery haunt fence and my finial tops (old halloween whistles) are showing their age. Do you have a ballpark feeling of how much it cost to 3D print your finials?
Thanks! It was under $8 for 15 of them.
I don't see the corner piece for the fence on the Etsy pages... I was just curious...
It’s bundled with the finial.
@@VanOaksProps Thanks I just ordered it. Saves me trying to tinkercad it plus I like them better than the metal L brackets I have used
Wish you’d make those 3D printed pieces available for purchase…
They are. Check the video description for the link.
@@VanOaksProps , Thanks, but the link just pulls up the homepage for Etsy.

My shop has reopened! HTTPS://vanoaksprops.Etsy.com
Are your 3D corner print files available
They're included with the finial file.
Are you guys doing it again this year?
Our display? Yes.
@@VanOaksProps what times.
I wanna go there tonight if possible

@@VanOaksProps thanks.
Tip, use a flat bit and not an augur type. There's no way to back out
How much would you charge me for the fence toppers? Need 50
Email me via my website and we can discuss. Vanoaksprops.com
How expensive Derek is your 3D printer
They range in price, but if you’re looking to get into them there’s one for most budgets.
💚💙
What do you recommend for a 3d printer for a newbie that wants to buy one without upgrading 50 times?. Kinda "future proof" for a while.
