I really like that you're starting to do more truck videos brother. Although I love sports cars, I love trucks as well. Keep up the great work @subaruwrxfan
I’ve owned this truck same model and options as video since it’s been available to get and it’s been fantastic. Easy maintenance, reliable, and excellent off-road with deep mud and wet hilltop pastures even with just road tires. Traveled multiple times from the foot hills of North Carolina to Key West Florida and back with only stopping a couple times to fuel up which really saved time. Hauls great but I did have the exhaust brake overheat or malfunction once but after a little while it was fine again. I’m really glad I went with this truck over Honda’s ridgeline. The Honda was close but for the same price on top model no question the Canyon is more capable for my use of the vehicle. The Honda seemed better suited for a high school kid with a dirt bike and liked to play his bed speakers in the parking lot of Taco Bell at 3 in the morning.
I hate push button start I find the key to be much more satisfying to turn then to just push a button. I also hate the electronic ebrake that some cars have it takes away from the fun
I agree, big time! Although I've never driven a car with push button start, the idea just sounds stupid in my opinion. It's more like turning on a computer rather than starting up a car. But hey, maybe that's what everybody wants their cars to be. Shouldn't be too long until telepathic ignitions become a thing. :P
it's more of a convenience. I have it In my tacoma and I love it. put your key in your pocket and forget it. don't need it to unlock the doors either, just grab the handle
I own a '17 GMC Canyon SLT diesel 4x4 long bed, it has about 4,000 miles on it now. The diesel engine is a gem. In ordinary driving the bottom heavy power is always available. You don't mash the gas pedal on a diesel - roll it in and it will surge forward nicely. In normal traffic, it lives at 1,800 to 2,200 rpm and easily gets 33 mpg cruising on the highway now that it is broken in a little. It is great for highway driving, once it is in 6th gear, the transmission's work is done until you pull off. Set the cruise and hills, headwinds don't matter. It just grunts and goes in 6th gear with the torque converter always locked out, with a cool and relaxed vibe with all that torque centered around 2K RPM. My only real complaint so far is the cup holders are too small and the door pockets are silly. Other than that, the truck is pretty darn perfect. Have had no problems to date and am very pleased with it. Would buy it again. Speaking of buying, I did a fly and buy as local dealers in Denver where I live did not have the long bed 4x4 diesel config I wanted, and they wanted MSRP. Picked mine up out of state at Laura Buick GMC in Collinsville IL for 36.5K OTD (MSRP is 44.5K, GM was running a special, plus Laura's everyday 6K off MSRP discount) with a 30 day temp tag, then got a VIN verification and paid the tax title and license at the when I got back home.
Perpetual Animal 6000 miles on the truck now averaging just over 25 miles per gallon lifetime Still Loving it! Good luck with your new Denali that sounds awesome!
They could make it have push button start, but it's just a truck thing to have an actual key, and I honestly I like that GM trucks still have ignition keys.
New intro looks sharp man. While you're making changes, perhaps consider dropping saying subaruwrxfan, and just use your name. It just doesn't fit anymore brother.
Hey Subaruwrxfan, what a great review once again. Thanks for all your awesome videos and congrats on being married for almost a year I think? your videos are helping get through a difficult time in my life and it's nice to see your channel grow. Have a great day man!
How come you didn't try out the 4 wheel drive and towing capabilities, you had this truck for a week? That's what this truck is built for. Rather been interested in that over lack of push button start info.
OHHHHH! OHHHHHH! OOOOOOH! OHHHHH! INTRO! Great review. Thorough review. Automakers need to be called out for things that don't make sense, and when keyless entry is not standard on a 45k truck but is on a car that costs nearly half of that, something needs to be said. I just don't see the logic they operate off of. 45k truck still has a standard key and halogens but Camaros are rocking smart-key systems and lighting options for days. Leaves me confused, and it will likely push buyers to the Toyota Tacoma.
Trucks are usually made for work, and for guys like me who just want a solid vehicle to get from point A to point B and not some computerized fashion accessory that practically drives itself. However, I do agree that $45,000 is pretty damn pricey for such a vehicle.
I love your videos, I always enjoy watching them. Can you make a video on the 2016 Cadillac ATS? I'm looking into getting one in a few months but I want to see you review it because I love how you do your videos.
Nice truck I own a 2015 F150 2.7 ecoboost and it's a very powerful truck. I wish I would of waited for the diesel canyon to come out. I had a full size F150 before and I loved it. But at my house I have now has a narrow driveway and this truck can pull 7,700 lbs with a 4 cylinder diesel which is way more than what I tow. Also this engine is a lot more efficient than the ecoboost ford engines. They are strong and good on the highway but city driving they aren't as efficient. I would really consider buying this truck for the size and workability.
Sweet looking GMC Canyon. I find it more attractive than its twin, the Chevy Colorado. While diesel may not be for *everyone,* I believe that with this current generation 2.8 litre "Baby Duramax" diesel powering small and mid-sized trucks, those who need the extra towing power should be allowed the option. I like the interior of the truck. While I could do without the Wi-Fi access, and technogadgets, I believe that a truck should be as comfortable as it is durable and utilitarian. I just hope this Baby Duramax sells. If it doesn't, I'm going to be *very* unhappy. It's been 30+ years since diesel engines were available in small trucks.
I was trying to figure out why it seemed so slow then you mentioned the horsepower and I was like ohhhhhhhh that's why lol.Nice truck non the less its very nice looking .Anyway love your reviews as always !!!!!
I have the 2016 Colorado DuraMax and just like my truck the GMC does have keyless entry and remote start. Unless you mean it should have a key fob with proximity entry.
when the keyless remote breaks or goes bad it cost a fortune to get it fixed not to mention you can't drive your car if your battery goes dead when the keyless remote breaks or goes bad the cost a fortune to get it fixed not to mention you can't drive your car if your battery goes dead the keyless remote doesn't work to get in the car luckily there's usually a key inside so that you can get in the car
oh man what about us regular cab guys who want a normal cab but a slightly longer bed, some of us actually like using our trucks to carry stuff in the bed
“Torque peaks at 2,000 but with a max of 5,000 it takes a while for the torque to kick in”...? It’s obvious you aren’t taking the transmission into play. At the low gears the torque kicks in quickly and you should have monitored RPM’s while the truck shifted through the gears. The turbo lag isn’t bad at all.
Thanks for reviewing this vehicle. I appreciate it alot. I have one suggestion about your presentation techniques, slow down your speech. its too fast and difficult to make out what you’re saying. It distracts from the points you are trying to make. Besides that, keep doing what your doing
Daily vlogs are a lot of work and most people seem to get burned out pretty quickly and can only keep it going for a year or two. I do try to show more day-to-day stuff through my social media, especially with Instagram (@ecoboostfan) and Snapchat (thesubaruwrxfan).
+subaruwrxfan you said diesels arent straight line performers you need to test drive the new 6.6 Duramax or 6.7 Powerstroke those would probably and no offense outrun your mustang
Where's your previous intro? Because I like that intro. But overall this one is new and great. BTW, I'm going to get the similar truck as this sweet one (AWESOME I should say), kinda different, because it's going to be a Chevrolet Colorado, once I get my driver's license. But it is going to have the same diesel motor. In fact, my grandpa already has a diesel truck, but his is a RAM, not a Colorado, nor a Canyon. In fact, try reviewing the RAM with the new diesel V6 if you can. 🙂
I really like that you're starting to do more truck videos brother. Although I love sports cars, I love trucks as well. Keep up the great work @subaruwrxfan
I don't care who you are, THIS IS A REAL TRUCK!
Still prefer the Sierra..
I’ve owned this truck same model and options as video since it’s been available to get and it’s been fantastic. Awesome description of most people buying trucks. You know 90% of people getting a truck with bed speakers are using it for the reason you described.
Yes Matt!!!! Finally a diesel review for us diesel guys.
I hate push button start I find the key to be much more satisfying to turn then to just push a button. I also hate the electronic ebrake that some cars have it takes away from the fun
I agree

Road Slow 720 same
Road Slow 720
So, you get your rocks off by pulling on a big, long black stick (eBrake)? Lol
This new intro is absolutely amazing... I love it! Keep up the great work Matt!

nice man! buying a 2018 Denali canyon long bed diesel pretty soon. How many miles u got on yours now? any more news to share?
Perpetual Animal 6000 miles on the truck now averaging just over 25 miles per gallon lifetime Still Loving it!
Good luck with your new Denali that sounds awesome!
They could make it have push button start, but it's just a truck thing to have an actual key, and I honestly I like that GM trucks still have ignition keys.
Why are people voting "thumbs down" on this great vehicle with this new economical sweet diesel engine?
Steve Holsten Its not the truck, its his voice. Truck is amazing!
It's got a timing belt. Diesels should have a timing chain.
that intro tho!
Sick truck man! Love the new intro btw!
New intro looks sharp man. While you're making changes, perhaps consider dropping saying subaruwrxfan, and just use your name. It just doesn't fit anymore brother.
great point, I second that
I agree
Enjoyed the new intro. Nice work!
Was not expecting the intro. Nice to see something new, hope it stays for awhile.
Matt that intro was great!!! Also the opening sequence the song choice is great as well! I like that song!
Awesome review as usual matt, Also loving the new video intros they really help give the channel a little refresh!
You always got to make these cool intros. Keep up the great work with your videos!
Awesome that you review trucks as well man !
Hey Subaruwrxfan, what a great review once again. Thanks for all your awesome videos and congrats on being married for almost a year I think? your videos are helping get through a difficult time in my life and it's nice to see your channel grow. Have a great day man!
Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about your difficult time but I'm glad the videos help a bit and I hope you find yourself in better times soon!
thats real brushed aluminium by the way. you were right.
Liking the new intro
How come you didn't try out the 4 wheel drive and towing capabilities, you had this truck for a week? That's what this truck is built for. Rather been interested in that over lack of push button start info.
Matt i love your reviews and have watched your videos from years back, keep up the good work, from a big fan from London

OHHHHH! OHHHHHH! OOOOOOH! OHHHHH! INTRO! Great review. Thorough review. It has remote keyless entry and remote start.
It does not have a key fob-proximity entry or push start.
Trucks are usually made for work, and for guys like me who just want a solid vehicle to get from point A to point B and not some computerized fashion accessory that practically drives itself. However, I do agree that $45,000 is pretty damn pricey for such a vehicle.
Now that is an intro! Loving it man.
Really like the new intro - great work!

Excellent new Intro!
Woah opening was brutal sweet but I gotta say I was expecting the old calm refined one this caught me off guard

Best truck I've ever driven.
Nice truck! Super reliable
Sweet intro. Can see it going well for when you eventually change the channel name and make a new logo for it with the intro in mind
We have a 2016 GMC Canyon 3.6 V6 and I want to know the Avg. Fuel Economy works. Does it have to go up or does it have to go down?
the intro is awesome
I was trying to figure out why it seemed so slow then you mentioned the horsepower and I was like ohhhhhhhh that's why lol.Nice truck non the less its very nice looking .Anyway love your reviews as always !!!!!
Next time you review a truck I want to hear, " so let's turn onto this mud trial here, and see how it muds" lol off roading!!
awesome new intro too!
Awesome intro! Awesome truck! keep it up!
HOLY CRAP nice new intro!!!
For your personal opinion
Which car is more fun to use or faster ?
Camaro SS or Mustang GT
Subaruwrxfan
your videos are very professional nice camera work
I have the 2016 Colorado DuraMax and just like my truck the GMC does have keyless entry and remote start.
Unless you mean it should have a key fob with proximity entry.
I will avoid a touch start when ever possible. It just seems like another way for the service department to make money if something goes wrong.
COOL Review: 2016 GMC Canyon Duramax Diesel
love that intro
when the keyless remote breaks or goes bad it cost a fortune to get it fixed not to mention you can't drive your car if your battery goes dead when the keyless remote breaks or goes bad the cost a fortune to get it fixed not to mention you can't drive your car if your battery goes dead the keyless remote doesn't work to get in the car luckily there's usually a key inside so that you can get in the car
Great review and video.
Damn that intro was so sick!
oh man what about us regular cab guys who want a normal cab but a slightly longer bed, some of us actually like using our trucks to carry stuff in the bed
Benjamin Masters Then don’t buy a Canyon.
Really like the front better than chevrolet on this truck
Like the new intro
could you review a Sierra Denali? (it has MR control, Higher end leather, brushed aluminium, more sound dampening) really want to see a review of one
I want more diesel engines in midsized/small work trucks, can't wait to see what Ferd does with the ranger
Err mah gerd ferd rainjer
Still waiting
Dude, nice intro!!
Awesome Intro!!
Have u done the Ford F-150, I would like to see what the difference would be in mpg full sized truck
Thanks for reviewing this vehicle. I appreciate it alot. I have one suggestion about your presentation techniques, slow down your speech. its too fast and difficult to make out what you’re saying. It distracts from the points you are trying to make. Besides that, keep doing what your doing
Wow that intro thoughhhh
I really want a Canyon now
I got one..... best truck i've ever had
You should try the newer Ram 2500 6.7L cummins. That thing will surprise you with its torque.
Yeah Ford and Ram's 6.7's are beasts with 900 FT LBS of torque they are incredibly fast for a 1 ton truck.
I'm pretty sure if you get it tuned it can be even faster
+Jak2bossbf3 yeah you can
+Shawn Prickett you can upgrade the turbo and put well over 1200 pound feet of torque without even touching the engine
+Drace Provost yeah I know you can do a shit load of stuff to a diesel and get a crap load of HP and TQ
hey Matt I'm a huge fan. have you ever considered doing a daily blog in your channel?
Daily vlogs are a lot of work and most people seem to get burned out pretty quickly and can only keep it going for a year or two. I do try to show more day-to-day stuff through my social media, especially with Instagram (@ecoboostfan) and Snapchat (thesubaruwrxfan).
+subaruwrxfan oh you just answerd my random comment thanks bro! can you let thatdudeinblue review your mustang? I wanna see vids like that again.
+subaruwrxfan you said diesels arent straight line performers you need to test drive the new 6.6 Duramax or 6.7 Powerstroke those would probably and no offense outrun your mustang
NEW INTRO IS SOOO MUCH BETER

I like that previous intro too
Awesome intro!!!
awesome Truck =)
"I'm floored!" Haha!
That intro though .... Have you found some epic intro making website or something?!
Nope, just paid a graphic designer haha.
+subaruwrxfan nice! He did a great job!
that would be a hell of a work truck if it had a regular cab and a longer bed
You should review more trucks if you able to like a F-150 or Ram 1500 or a heavy duty like a F-250 or a Ram 2500.
much prefer the design and higher end interior to that of the Colorado.
The Canyon's interior is actually real aluminum on the steering wheel and radio bezel
Matts favorite word: Here
Intro surprised me 😂
Can you do review the RAM 1500 Laramie limited in the near future?
I miss seeing videos on your Mustang. Do you plan on doing one soon?
Yeah I think I'll probably do another one soon. This week's update video will also be filmed in the Mustang.
if you wana change the bumper in case of it being damage how is it done?
badass intro
