Welcome to the m-lites, I’ve had mine for 2 1/2 years and still love every minute of it. Mine is the F21 shadow edition and I’ve spent quite a bit on mods with more to do. Looking forward to your future videos and well done for buying an amazing car. 👍

Lovely car mate, Melbourne red is a great colour with the shadow edition bits on there. Looking like my one is gonna be full stealth black with the black optional alloys

LCI.2 did come in manual tho (have a mate who got a 2018 M140i manual) but yeah most M140i's you find generally are with the ZF8, it is a magnificent autobox and very strong. You can make it even better by flashing XHP on it.. DCT-like shifts in Sport+ then. Also the M140i really actually is 90% the same as a normal M Sport 1 series, apart obviously from the brakes, engine and better tyres fitted from factory (Michelin SS), but this beast of an engine paired with the good gearbox just makes it an uncomparable experience compared to any other 1-series. They couldn't add too many extra's to it (LSD, better dampers/suspension) or it would become too much of an M2 rival, hence the M140i is an M-lite, it sits perfectly marketing-wise (or sat.. unfortunately, RIP new 1 series). It truly is an unique car and years from now we'll be all looking back at how bonkers it was BMW put a 3 litre straight-six turbo in a 1-series, lol. You will not get tired quickly of this car, it's the perfect daily, just be careful with all those RWD horsies and the open diff..
Great choice. As an Mlite owner for nearly 3 years now I can honestly say I’ll never part with it. All the performance you could want, somewhat practical and can easily be a daily and a track weapon with the right set up. And also, that ZF8 is a peach. Almost every other Mlite owner I’ve met has it and it really works well with the N55/B58.
It is the best all round car for the price. I do a lot of driving for work and obviously its great fun as you'd expect but I've also managed to get 46mpg on some journeys. That's mental for a 3 litre I6. What more could you want?

I've just swapped my pilot super sports for proper winter tyres, they make such a difference in the cold / wet / snow! Highly recommended it if you don't mind swapping tyres between seasons
I really haven't a clue about cars but what you did with your white BMW was amazing it looked brilliant.. Be interesting to see what you do with this it's gonna be difficult to match it... Great channel cheers 👍or and BMW dust caps👌

Traded my Golf R in for an auto M140i, only had it a month but its so much fun I love it, never looked back. The B58 is a sweet engine. Great car 👍

Best thing I did was get shot of the crappy stock paddles; the M ones feel and look loads better, especially with a nice retrim from Royal.
I’ve had mine for 19 months and it still makes me grin when you floor it.

Just found your channel the other day and have watched all your BMW related videos now, really good.... I’m 46 and have had a number of 1 Series and liked them all. Was looking at the new M135i recently. I know some people hate the fact it’s now FWD & a 4 cylinder engine but unfortunately times change..Ended up picking up a 70 plate 128ti as the deal was too good to pass up. Still great fun at 265HP . Glad you are loving your new motor....
I'm considering the ti too mate, what deal did you end up getting? My local BMW wanted silly money for one!
@@Benj1980 - Hi, my local BMW dealership had just received their showroom model with a tonne of options, about 6k’s worth which made the car roughly 39k but they did it for 34k. Figures were good so I went for it. Traded in my 3 year old 120d shadow....

Ah watergate bay such a nice spot I always pull in to the lay-by before the bay itself. Be in Cornwall later this year for a break all being well. You are lucky to live where you are.👍🤟✊
A road trip to Nürburg in the future needs to happen, would make a great series for the channel!

Nice one Brett, Glad you got the 140, why wouldn't you stick with the 1 series?? After the 118i its a different car! Wish I was able to have had a car with this much power when I was your age!
Hopefully be able to get down to you this summer and give the 140i a run for its money in my 130i

Thanks mate! Just because wrapping the interior was a nightmare! Tried it 3 times and still wasn’t happy. Rather let a wrapping company do it or get proper materials
How are continental Conti sport contact SSR tyres?? Are they classed as good?

You know. This is an idea. Nobody really considers sports cats anymore. Would you consider installing a sports car exhaust system. High flow loud af exhaust (legal). Might get a few of us buzzing lol
Just get a cat back exhaust
Look at a bluespark box. £60-70 for a used box, boost it up to 415hp, and takes it to another level. Best bang for buck and doesn’t sacrifice reliability

I’m still on the stock MPSS’s and get in with them fine; I’ve not died yet even in the snow! Once they get towards 3mm they basically stop working though.
You need to do a collab with @motech performance lowering and Remus exhaust etc...

Go for Pilot Sport 4S instead of Pilot Sport 4. Much much better for grip! Especially when its dry 😃

LOL i had some infinite eco max tyres, yes they are budget and yes they are terrible.
My bmw stripped them in no time, literally lasted half the miles compared to the falkens i had on before.

Nice car! Can you help me pick which 1 series to get? 118i 118d 116d? And which trim? I think 118d sport for the economic and fun to drive balance??
If you never test drive the 120d the 118d is a really solid Choice. The 116d is nice but feels slow. It‘s not really faster than a polo.
But...test drive a 120d. It‘s loads of fun and has decent consumption.
Or the 120i. I‘ve got the b48 one (2L 184hp) and I Love it. Doing around 6,9-7,4L/100km depending. Mostly Autobahn.
I’ve got a f21 116d M Sport, really nice to drive and once it’s in sport mode it’s relatively quick compared to most small engine stock hatchbacks. Cheaper to insure as well which I why I went for it as I’m 19. If you test drive a 118d however you’ll notice the difference. Also depends on whether you’d want an automatic or manual? My 116d is an automatic which makes it feel abit quicker than the manual once it’s in sport mode, when changing gears etc. Overall any of them will be good just make sure to test drive before hand and decide whether it’s for you, I do recommend the M Sport trim though👍🏼
Thanks for the replies guys, I was looking for around a 16/17 plate as you can pick up a sport trim for around £10k. The m sport seems to be sitting like £1.5-2k above this price, are the upgrades really worth it? And I will deffo have to test drive those options thanks! I’m 21 so insurance shouldn’t be too bad. And I would deffo pick manual.
@@ryanhughes6701 I would go for a 2.0 liter then so a 118d 120d then. All round good economy and performance with cheap tax as well, £30 I believe. M Sport just gives the few extra bits like the nicer steering wheel, nicer wheels, LED headlights/drl, electric adjustable seat bolsters, and slightly sportier suspension I think? Might be wrong there I can’t remember off the top of my head. It’s more aesthetic and what you’d prefer looks-wise. If those bits don’t bother you then the sport trim will be just fine and save you a decent bit of money as well.

140 for sure - why shouldn’t it ?!
@@vollcare4076 there’s not a huge amount in it. The B58 has more mid range punch but the N55 has a bit more at the top end.
@@samcourt6228 yes the B58 has more more mid range punch over the N55.
Even top end punch of the B58 is more than on N55:
The N55 just feels like it has more top end punch since it has lower punch in the mid range and needs to be reved higher to get all the power out of it.
If you compare pure numbers at high revs, let’s say 5500-6500 rpm, the B58 still has ca 15-20hp more than N55
@@vollcare4076 15 - 20 bhp on a relatively chunky hatch / coupe is neither here nor there though; the difference from 320 to 340 is much harder to notice than in a lower powered car. I don’t think they feel vastly different other than the difference in how they deliver the power, it’s not night and day.

I wouldn't bother getting it remapped its plenty powerful enough and you know what happened last time! Concentrate on making it look really pretty example that's what your magic at big boy👍
while i understand why you’d be put off cause of the last experience, this B58 is stout. it’s the same engine that comes in the Z4/Supra. you only need a quick look at channels like Adam LZ’s and all to see them do 9 second quarter miles with their tuned supra’s with a stock engine. i wouldn’t be too scared. with the right supporting mods like a free flowing exhaust, intercooler, injectors if you need and fuel pump.
@@splixsky the thing is, even though the engine is the same all the other parts probably aren’t. Like the b48 Engine for example does 184-306hp in different cars. But Remapping a 120i to 306hp probably is not a good idea 😅 you‘d have to change a lot of smaller parts probably. But if you do change everything that can’t handle the additional power, there shouldn’t be problems 👍🏻
I’d sort the suspension first before adding power (it’s the last things these need and I say that as an owner); underbody brace and B12’s are popular. The LSD makes a big difference too.

From my personal experience, you should check out Michelin Pilot Sport 4S for your tyre replacement. The MPS 4 is a good tyre but not enough to handle 300hp at the wheels 😂😂 In 20.000 km you will feel that you need a new set 😂😂.
I'm sure they only do the ps4 S's in 19inch i tried to get them last year for mine. Ps4 tyres are still decent or the Goodyear equivalent.
Can’t get the PS4S’s in the right size for these.
Tyre PS4 is a popular choice on these (I don’t have any issues with the MPSS so am still on them).
@@samcourt6228 i found the MPSS grip shocking in cold wet conditions with 340+bhp. PS4s are a all round better tyre for the British climate although the MPSS have stiffer/reinforced sidewalls.
