What a great video, helped me setting up phone system for testing. thanks for the video 👍
Well done. Really helped me understand Microsoft Phone and how to set it up for our company.
This is a great tutorial. Very appreciative of your work here.
Thank you so much. This is indeed a helpful session on MS phone with MS teams.
Great help thanks! Especially that 44 number tip!
Awesome video. Your advice at 19:00 completely solved my main issue!
Thank you for this tutorial, exactly what I needed!🙏
It was really a great session, as a trainer, I appriciate you
You are amazing. thanks for all these info and help
Way to go, great first video and time stamp? Champ!
Thanks for your support
timestamp fixed now :)
Thanks Alex! Very helpful video 👍🏾
Hi, Just want to say thank you for the excellent tutorial, you taught me everything I know :) ... In regards to not being able to assign the number in the Teams portal, in this video time stamp 10:15 you were not receiving the correct error for some reason, your error read "We can't save changes for the number xxxxxxxxxx right now. Please try again later." it should of read To continue, accept the Enhanced Emergency Disclaimer for the selected location. You did the right thing by going to the Legacy portal > Voice and assigning the number there, because that bought up the disclaimer and hit the accept button, that's when you fixed the issue at time stamp 11:07 just thought I would let you know, just incase you did not know, but again thank you for an excellent video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank for this demonstration. I will be sharing your company's information.
Looking forward to learning more through your fine work.
Hi Alfred, we also have released an updated version of this guide to reflect the newer version of Microsoft Teams admin center. Please have a look at our video list to find it.

Great stuff!
Thanks for your support.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your video, it is very helpful. In the min 15:42 when you are adding extensions, what happens when a company doesn't want to use groups and they have 20 users, how do you set up the redirection with the extension to those 20 people if this menu only has 9 spots? Thanks!
very useful! thanks a bunch !...
I'm glad it was useful for you, thanks!
Excellent
very good content, keep it up, would you offer 1 to 1 and/or group training?
really it helped me to support cx
thank you
Very Good
Thanks for the great tutorial. Would you be able to explain the pricing and licenses in more detail? How much did it cost to port numbers to Microsoft? Were the phone numbers you added included with activation of the Business Voice License? If not, how much are you paying for them?
In regards to pricing.
Based on a business licence
Head to billing > purchase services scroll down and hit Addons
Here you will find
business voice - look at that as you hand set (Apple iPhone shall we say)
Now you need credit to make calls
So you can chose communication credits (pay as you go)
Or a calling plan (contract phone X amount of minutes)
Note with the calling plan - let's say it's 1000mins that you get
So you have a calling plan and I then get a calling plan - the thousand mins is shared between us it's not 50/50 I may use 90% you may use 10% etc....
Then E5
You do not need business voice (the hand set Apple iPhone) as it is included
Once you get business voice, the numbers are included
I think 10 user numbers and 10 service numbers
Make sure that:
If you conference bridge - order a service number
If you want auto attendant - order a service number
Calling Queue - order a service number
Then of you want the number for yourself order - a user number that is assigned to your user
I hope this helps
Let me know if you have any questions
Great tutorial. Be aware that most countries (except US, UK) can not sign up for Business Voice. Take that in account when registering initial account.
you can still use direct routing in place of business voice
It was really a great session, as a trainer, I appreciate you , I have 1 Question please reply, I assigned 1 license to our staff in ( London) and he traveled to another country can he make and receive call while is not in UK ,Or our 1 staff are sitting in another country can he call to the our customer to showing UK no on the customer side ??. Please confirm.
Question. Right now I have only been able to have inbound calls work correctly if I have skype open. Is skype really a dependency for the calling plan to work or is there some hidden setting that needs to be updated so calls route through the Teams UI?
Thank You so much, I was having so much trouble doing this. Thank You!
Glad I could help!
Great Tutorial!!! When assigning the phone number to the Resource Auto attendant for the "Toll-free" is it the same setup? if not what is the difference? In addition, when creating the extension for the "Assign a dial Key" can i multiple using the same Resource Call Queue or do i need to create a new one for each Assign a dial Key?
Pretty much the same, just need communications credit on top. One RA per option.
If I assign E5 license for user, can I be able to get a phone number for that user? I'm receiving an error "We can't do this because your organization is missing a Phone System license. Buy more licenses and please try again" do you have any tips on that?
Thank you for your video. You are awesome.
Hi we have a Polycom phone that signs in then after 3mins signs out and re-registers the SIP??
Great video! thanks for the overview. Can Teams phone work with 4 digit extensions? how does the dial by name directory work?
You are welcome. The phone system doesn't work with extension numbers, it works by using the names of people. The idea is like with DNS, no need to remember IPs (numbers), we remember names better. that is why all certified team devices need to have a large touch screen as you need to type people's name or search your contacts scrolling. Extension numbers in my opinion are no longer relevant
@@asygma5999 Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to make sure I understood how that worked and I agree.
You can setup extension dialing to, for example, integrate with a legacy on-premises PBX (which would assume you had direct routing configured). This would be done via dial plans with normalization rules.
Good Video but why skip though the last but very important part with the voicemail? I have no clue how to do this
All user need To have a Business voice Account? In May organization of 80 user i only need 10 user with businees voice and the Other with Microsoft Office 365 and i can transfer outside call for this user?
Great demo. Do you have any demos on porting exisiting numbers over to Teams/Phone system?
Not yet, but thanks for the suggestion. It is a good idea for the next video.
Contact PTN@microsoft.com they can help and explain
Can a GSM gateway be integrated with the SBC?
Hi. Nice job. Covered a lot of the basics I needed to understand. Question that I have for you, given COVID, I am seeing clients closing their offices and distributing people to home to work. They still want a business number tied to Teams, but not a 'corporate" phone system as you describe. (so old school! -grin) Can this system setup simply stop once you have setup a series of numbers for all users? Say users 1-9. You get the block of numbers. You assign them to individual members. No corporate entry point for now. What happens when they hire number 10? Is it guaranteed you will get another number in the series? Or might it be a random new number? Can I add those "corporate" features when they someday move back into a real office? etc.
You need to purchase a block of numbers straight away, you will not be able to get the additional numbers as a sequence, Microsoft will just have them available for other people to buy them. It is the same as ipv4 addressing, if you want to guarantee the whole block, you need to allocate it to you, and that means buying it. I'm releasing an updated version of this video this week or the next following one, it may help you with these questions.
@@asygma5999 Thank You! that's what I assumed. The whole decision is significantly more complex than looks at first glance. Thanks
Does the phone numbers support text messages too ?
+1000 because of the beautiful index
Hi,
in my case I have "Domestic and International calling plan" AND "Phone system - Virtual User "as standalone licenses and then I have Microsoft 365 Phone system and Audioconferencing as apps under E5 subscriptions. What do I need to activate in order to be able to forward a user's incoming calls to a phone number or contact group? Let's say I have a user helpdesk user that people can contact on Teams by audio calls and once they do calls are forwarded to another number (a number set on the Autoattendant and Call queue section in Teams portal). Thanks!
It seems you have already what is needed, the calling plan and the phone system user license. I would suggest you follow my guide from beginning to end to ensure you can deploy the system without problems.
@@asygma5999 I was able to make it work, however had to use Calling plan licenses too, as Phone System - Virtual User alone wasn't enough and I believe I had read that if the latter is used, there is no need to use the Calling plan anymore. I also had to wait longer than 24 h.
Who else was waiting for him to test?
Can you port existing numbers into Teams?
Yes, I have ported already single a reasonable large range of numbers on one go without problems from ISDN and other SIP providers
At 9:12 I get stuck. I have a user with a phone system assigned but it doesn't recognise it and says I need to buy a phone system. Also I can't believe we need to have a calling plan subscription as well as a phone system! Surely we should be able to just have a phone system and pay per minute! It's ridiculously expensive if the majority of staff make very few calls and we can only justify the calling plans for a handful of staff.
This tutorial is about the business voice plan which is the user license and minutes as one single package. Are you sure you are using the right plan?
@@asygma5999 The system was being very buggy last week. Not recognising changes etc. The value for money is another matter, it's really terrible value for money for any business other than a call centre. Most staff don't make enough calls to justify £12/month worth of calling plans each, only the really high volume callers such as sales people and executives. Everyone else still needs to be able to make calls but they might make 30 minutes worth of calls in a week, if any. The system is also still quite rough around the edges, missing features such as conferencing an existing call or music during call transfer. And you can't seem to have everyone call out from the same number but they have to call from their own assigned number which is ridiculous when you have a reception/call queue system and should be able to make it appear calls are coming from the main number.
Hi I have a problem with my demo system, I do not see Business Voice Plan under Purchase services
This seems outdated. There is no "emergency phone" in the legacy skype portal. I don't see the options to add User (subscriber) either. I have a Microsoft 365 E5 License.
(PS: This only works for the UK, US and Canada).
4:00 business voice
What a terrible UX
