At 1:17:52, I'm pretty sure the concession may have been unnecessary but that game might not have been worth continuing playing. He got a clue from Thraben Inspector, so I think he could crack that clue for Lazav to become Lyra and survive being shot by the Skysovereign. I'm not sure if he already took doing that into consideration and just figured having to draw a card there wouldn't actually leave him enough cards in his deck to win the game anyway. He's really only got Evolved Sleeper and Toxic Deluge left, and the Sleeper also can't be made very large without speeding up the decking himself issue, so it's hard to imagine him winning that game even if his opponent draws nothing. I feel like there could have been the possibility that they end up topdecking and casting some huge creature that could end up letting Lazav win the game, though?
Ah, the ol’ red-less traveled. One of my oldest and most favorite Arena brews is a Red-less 4 color Approach of the Second Sun/Strixhaven block deck. I like play-testing it against aggro decks when I can find them.
The situation at 50:15 underscores why I find the Oracle of the Alpha to be a bad card - hand is empty, and 6 of the Power 9 are dead draws when added to the deck like that. When you're topdecking with no hand, last thing you want is ti have added 5 Mox and a Black Lotus to your deck. 52:13 - exactly the problem with the card.
That was not a deck built to optimize Oracle of the Alpha. In the right deck it is busto, especially in a 40 card deck format, and even in losing games it gives you extremely nutted outs let alone in games you're doing well in and drawing cards. The 17L data also supports it's quite good, particularly as it is picked very highly for the fun factor so likely is brought down by many unoptimized decks.
I have found that this video exemplifies my issue with the cube: the vast majority of games come down to a complete grindfest where I'm tracking the number of cards in my deck. I think this is because the power is too concentrated at the 4-5 slot on the curves. I seldom see aggressive decks perform particularly well, but control and durdly midrange thrive. I wish there was a way for the designers to get some combo archetypes in here to break up some of the gameplay monotony and force midrange decks to play better interaction/speed up instead of relying on haymaker after haymaker.
Pack 1 pick 2, any consideration for Breach the Multiverse. Am I wrong for taking that over fetchs (and almost anything else) in my drafts. Additionally I rate sublime epiphany super highly in these so it’s nice to hear your feedback that it might be too slow or outclassed by the speed of the cube.
Hey, LSV, thanks for everything. I've watched your videos since 2012 and have learned so much about limited by watching you play and draft. Unfortunately, I'm unsubscribing from the channel because of my issues with MTG addiction. It sounds a little silly, but I have really struggled with maintaining a healthy relationship with this game. I've uninstalled Arena and MTGO, hopefully for the final time. I know this isn't really the place for this and that you may never see my comment, but here I am sending it out into the void anyway. Keep on making awesome content and thanks again for all the sick drafts.
As a lifelong nature loving green player I gotta say I agree with LSV's comment that this deck could have used one more big thing. However, LSV has made progress from his drafts years ago when he often would fail to put _a_ big thing in his deck.
This man announces the biggest Vintage Cube high stakes tournament and then switches formats two days in a row. I have no right to demand anything, but man was I disappointed today
This shows how Lurrus companion is so bad in Arena Cube. It’s always been awful for me and this was like the dream Lurrus deck. To be good the deck needs cards like Reclamation or k Command to get back Lurrus, sweepers, and lots of removal for big stuff.
Doesn't solemn draw a card on death? Your opponent that game had 0 cards in library so they would have lost the game to the kill spell unless I'm missing something here.
I feel so bad for oppo at 1:33:00, LSV can't keep getting away with it !
gotta read your cards though!
I laughed so hard - this is the most LSV moment we've had on youtube recently :D
Rule 1: "Always play to your outs". Rule 2: "Your opponent making a mistake is always an out".
Genius or grifter 😂
Get Lost on the Solemn was HILARIOUS
Please stop telling people to take fetchlands higher I'm in a queue rn and need this marsh flats to wheel
Did it wheel?
@@DiscardatRandom yeah lol
12:06 The disgust at Atraxa wheeling is hilarious.
My favorite Companion is LSV❤
The Get lost on the solemn was next, next level. Amazing

It’s cool to see how you rate cards in the Arena cube. I have been playing it too. It took me awhile to get into it, but it is a lot of fun. ❤
Wow game one must have been so disheartening for the opponent. Effortlessly answered everything they tried

subline epiphany is still top 10 highest GIH winrate cards on 17lands. blue decks are still very powerful
Yeah at the beginning of the draft I was thinking snapcaster, then breach, then sublime epiphany
The Get Lost on Solemn has been one of the better gambits in a long time
That mana tithe on your sunfall was sick by your opponent, I love mana tithe lol

Do you get to keep the cards you draft just like in a normal draft?

17lands stats still seem to be better than he suggests.
Really is crazy how much people undervalue fetches in this draft. I got 6 in one draft last night
How do you like this cube compared to mtgo's vintage cube?
That’s why you don’t concede if you’re about to die anyway.
At 29:09, did you have lethal if you bounced with snapcaster?
After not seeing you draft Lurrus for a while I’m excited to see what happens
Lurrus had no support in the last iteration of the Arena Cube. Nice to see it back.
How about a mono red draft like in the old days. It's very good in this cube unlike in Vintage cube and almost always open.
10/10 Lurrus 🎉👍👏👏
In the thumbnail it says booster draft, shouldn't it say cube draft?
and that is why you never concede
Weird to me that an in game card refers to “the power nine”, despite that not being an official game term, as far as I know
Alchemy might as well refer to cards as 'that card' and 'this card' for how much actual context it's cards offer

Sucks that you got the L but the get lost concede was so worth it
whoop whoop cube

How are your 4-1 opponents worse than my 1-2 opponents
No consideration for Jace Reawakened?
Its pretty terrible it just kinda does nothing
@@DiscardatRandom Good to know.
.
In pack 1 you passed on Mikeaus over Dig Through Time, which could have been the one more expensive card you were looking for.
Dig Through Time felt like it was *really* good here though? Right?

Nice to see you on the receiving end of Settle the Wreckage, respectfully. Lol

Vintage cube drafts only happen on the weekends now at least until the live the dream cube is off mtgo
Ah, thx! I did not know that
@@tordox1607 oh it's all good. Still might get some team drafts or a 64 player draft if LSV got a token
I on the other hand am very entertained by him drafting vintagesque deck on arena cube. Can't help it, i enjoy an lsv draft of any format and client😊
same

Solemn says may draw, not forced. They would have lost on their next turn.
Sorry, sent the reply too soon. But so would Luis because he had no cards in deck either. So thats why it was a gift.
Sunfall exiling all our stuff in a recursion deck seems sus. Idk though I didn’t watch the games, obviously. Who watches the games?
seemed pretty solid in the games lol
@@theopreston8507card is just too good on rate, and you can play around exiling your own important stuff
