    Years ago the office where I worked had a simple little Polaroid. My boss had a habit of dismissing it as a piece of junk. One day, I asked my wife to pose by a nicely textured brick wall with some attractive greenery and she wore a cute summer hat with a simple, colorful blouse and we placed her so that the sun streamed beautifully across her face. She gave me a nice smile with bright eyes and we got a lovely portrait. I showed that shot to my boss and told him, “Here’s what that little “piece of junk Polaroid” can give you if you know what you’re doing.” He made no fuss about it-he was very impressed and began using the camera much more. By the way, we only used one piece of Polaroid film-one and done!

    Great video Eli and awesome challenge to be able to inspire ppl at a budget entry level. I myself started with a T7i and jumped to A73 almost immediately. Now I wish I would have grinded it out with the T7, I think I would have had better composition skills today.

    How fun! It seems the lack of shutter speed kept you from getting a blue sky. Usually not a huge deal however, like you mentioned, we're spoiled with todays technology. Also, regarding the lenses used, the 50mm seemed the sharpest. Not related, my mom used to live in Weslaco and I would visit from time to time. Nice job, fun subject. :)

    Having owned the original Digital Rebel 6.3MP 20 years ago for only a short time due to theft, the reviews were very good. Looking at the photos I took back then are still pretty amazing. Ya gotta wonder about all the hype over the years of more megapixels..... The photos I took then rival my Sony A7 RII as far as color. Still a very pleasing camera in my book. Yes, I bought one recently in excellent condition for 40 bucks and am pleased, less the tiny lcd screen and lack of IS. The sunset shots are my choice. Thanks for the video!

    I believe w Canon APSC you have to multiply the focal length by 1.6. So shooting at 300 is like shooting at 480mm. Also don’t forget to also multiply the aperture as well. Im guessing that lens aperture was 6.3 or so it’s like shooting at f10! This explains why you had to lower the shutter big time.

    • @EliInfante
      @EliInfante  Рік тому +1

      I completely forgot about the aperture difference with APSC!

    • @alexanderkublitsky
      @alexanderkublitsky Рік тому +3

      Come on man, are you serious?
      There is no aperture difference.
      F/6.3 gives the same exposure no matter on APSC or FF.
      F/6.3 on APSC is equivalent to F/10.0 on FF in terms of DoF and has nothing to do with exposure.
      300mm on Canon APSC is equivalent to 480mm on FF, so to get sharp handheld images you should be using 1/500 or shorter.

    • @alexanderkublitsky
      @alexanderkublitsky Рік тому

      Also - the video is pointless.
      Let's take $35 camera and then pretend that flash, softbox, light stands and lenses mean nothing.
      Canon 50mm f/1.8 stm alone will cost more than $35.

    Maybe it’s UA-cam’s compression but the colours don’t seem to shine. Old cameras are fine but they require more knowledge about lighting as you can’t really fix exposure mistakes in post. They are great tools to learn on as you can’t really depend too much on automation but instead have to apply knowledge.
