I don't know how many times I've said that exact statement, "bass is so underrated"!! Great reaction!! Looking forward to more Tool!! Spiral out... keep going!
The device is called a Talkbox. It sends the guitar signal up through a tube so the guitarist can change the sound by using his mouth. Which is then picked up by the mic.
Great reaction! Exactly on bass. Justin's got this way of slipping in and taking over the melody before you realize that's bass! Still something new on every listen.
Thanks for the reaction! I would say you gotta check out this live version of Jambi, 'Tool - Jambi - The Non-existent DVD (2013)'. They work their asses off on this one, but I know it is probably too soon to react to after the studio take. So you should check out Eulogy - it's a slow burn groove masterpiece with scathing guitars and lyrics, cheers!
But also, the lyric "King's mountain view" references Jambi, a province in Indonesia. The time signature of the vocals is iambic pentameter, where iambi- is a bit like Jambi
On this track (like many others) the music was basically complete when it was given to Maynard for his lyrics and vocals. So the Jambi riff did in fact influence how he wrote it. There are no accidents in what Tool does.
More often than not with Tool, you need to pick an instrument/vocal if want to groove through the song lol. The ear candy is like no other band I've experienced and coupled with the visuals seeing them live is mind blowing! 🌀
The "true meaning" is always up for interpretation. I think it is inspired by his mother. It speaks what is truly valuable. He says "wants and needs divide me then I might as well be gone" the next section goes into "shine on forever" The light of love and compassion (the same light he attributes to his mother). The last part "breathe in union" this is deep connection like one would have with family. THe "legion" has a double meaning: It means a large group (many) BUT it also is used to refer to demon(s) that posses a man Jesus meets. Maynard's mother was religious till the very end. So the silence legions statement (in my opinion) refers to the internal voices that would drag you down, a call back to the line "The devil and his had me down, In love with the dark side I'd found." He warns those voices to stay out of his way as he moves forward in life. AGAIN this is my take. There is no right or wrong way to find meaning in this song.

Bookmarked it. It's a near-perfect fan vid.

That’s pretty deep

Thanks to reacting to my favorite band and for representing the D. I hope this music finds you well ✌️
Thanks for watching 🤘🏽
Tool's bass do be more pronounced than most other bands.

Pretty good take
Methinks you need a little introduction to Primus.
🤔 i know of Primus but i don’t remember if Ive heard any Primus.
Great reaction thanks
Thanks for watching
Odd time signatures, polyrhythmic to the core…… TOOL, there is no substitute.
Can’t say I’ve heard anything similar yet
React to DESCENDING, and you'll be off in another dimension
i'll put it on the list!
If “Jambi” is pronounced “Jambi”, then why isn’t “Bambi” pronounced “Bambi”?! I blame TOOL for the deepness in my thought process. NOT A COMPLAINT!🤟🏼😎
I think it depends on what region you’re from 😅
@@RichInReaction I’m Cajun so I be singing Jambalaya
