Next time you give it a try you will find the best results by first Sanding down to at least 1200 grit using a random orbital sander then using the special wood filler they sell for that use. Next primer sand base coat color like silver under for gold over the then after you got the color you want several coats of clear Sanding with 1200 wet sandpaper between coats till last coat then polishing then wax or ceramic. The for the binding tape up after Sanding with frog tape covering just the binding pull off before clear coating. Good job with the repaires
Some might say, you were going for the gold. Others may wonder why this lacquer isn't suitable for bro country...I am just wondering why you didn't stop when you discovered the case was a suitable plastic bag holder. 😀 Excited to see the end results!
I respect how you often willingly present your f-ups so we too can learn from them instead of editing the video so it looks like everything all worked swell from the outset.
I think many wonder why the paint isn't suitable for contemporary Christian and bro-country (best we don't ask what bro)? It does seem that the paint might.be okay for classic electric instrumental but they didn't say. Too bad Ventures, Duane Eddy et al. I am guessing that the paint manufacturers are having a little fun but leaving out what attracted me to this instrument is a gaffe.
This is fascinating. I love your main channel, of course, and this is a great extra one. Wow, such patience! It's looking good so far, so I look forward to seeing the final finished guitar - and, hopefully, hearing it!
The somewhat elongated speckle look was also unique, created when you physically stripped paint off the guitar. It would have been an interesting and unique base.
I agree it had an interesting look. That sort of creamy tan base with black grain.. Had a very old school grungey look to it that would've been pretty cool with a clear gloss lacquer sprayed over the top. However I can also see how many wouldn't find it attractive and then you also have the unsightly repairs, damage, etc.
I like the look of distressed wood, I would have totally left it at that and just clear coated over it.. Or if I'm feeling more art, I would spray that gold paint in a pattern that would look like the union jack British flag, but the triangles in between the cross lines would be unpainted showing off the distressed wood look
You sly devil. If you'd just announced you had another channel I would have gotten around to it eventually, but splitting this project into parts meant I had to come over right away and see this poor guitar go from sad shape to more hopeful and shiny. Love that you are pursuing your adjacent interests and learning new skills along the way.
I thought you did an excellent job on the bass! Would love to see the neck done and reattached to the body and played! ❤️your channel. From 🌨 Colorado. Thanxz
Fingers crossed that clearcoat application accidentally results in inability to reproduce skah music. Is it common to scrape the binding or tape it or maybe jury rig some sort of membrane? That looked like a huuuuge pain in the ass. Everything else made sense, then you got to the binding and it was like "oh...shit."
Okay is this you tube or fox news here because it sure seems like there's a whole lot of comments of either jealousy going on by the competition or let's just say those that want to believe and act is if they are all experts in this field folks. I mean really folks. Unless you are willing to learn more about the craft or the field well I don't believe that any of the rest of us on here care about your smart ass comments thank you!
I have the same guitar in 6 string form, and in excellent condition. They were made by Eko in Italy. Mine is branded Balilla, which I understand was a brand they used in Canada. Seeing this video, I can see that the unusual contour of the top, in the neck pickup area is intended, and not the result of pressure over time. Good job on the patching!
Ahhh here's part 2 .. Thanks for the heads up... The body is looking pretty awesome.. Nice work Boss. I apologize for my first post .. Pease out. And no one is really suited for Contemporary Christion and for sure not Bro, Country. (except sheep and drones) my head hurts just typing them
12:09... Good to know Duplicolor knows what genre their paint is best for... Hilarious! I assume this is a take on how companies like SD describe their pickups, etc.
i don't know how YT buried this content of yours from me, i had no idea you had a 2nd channel for guitars, i'm so excited! the genres approved for the lacquer cracked me up 😆
I loved that one. I'm glad I subscribed to that less known channel of yours. This restoration is so interesting I am just wondering why you wanna keep it separate from your main and ultra popular channel. Let more people know about it. Thank you and can't wait for part two.
Beautiful work! Are you going to post it to your main channel too? As much as I've been looking forward to your video, I have also secretly looked forward to the comments section ;)
Hey! I've been watching your other channel for some time now, and had no idea you had a guitar channel. This vid just came up in my recommendations and I recognized your name and thought "I wonder?" Lo and behold, it's the continuation of your guitar restoration! Looking forward to part 3, and hope you do some more guitar related stuff! Subbed.
I'm so glad you continued work on this project and added to the original video from a few months ago. I was worried you lost interest because it was a complex and difficult rehabilitation. Also the luthiers and other guitar "aficionados" were quite rude in the comments of the previous video regarding your choices in this repair. I hate it when people aren't constructive in the comments. This looks really great. Can't wait to see the reveal.
All things considered, "Dashner Guitars" is just a wonderful combination of words that I was very happy to be introduced to today. Thank you for sharing! 🙏
Thanks for keeping it real! Showing us you had to undo what looked like hours of work must’ve been difficult. It could’ve easily been cut out of the video like other restoration creators might’ve done. Same with your other channel too, sticking to more realistic results! The hobby has been overrun with so many carpenters that strive for absolute perfection with hundreds of thousands of dollars in equipment when you get similar results in your garage.
That wuz GREAT (!) ...most informative and I'm sure it'll help a lot of blokes avoid the many pitfalls that are readily available 😵💫 ...so thanx and I'm on the edge of me seat lookin' f'word to pt. 2 🥸
This is the best video evahhhhhh!!!!!!
Gosh, you're too kind.
😆😆😆
😂❤
Well played.😂
@@DashnerGuitars LOL
Whatever happend to this project? Love to see the finished bass and hear it, pretty sure I'm not the only one too!

Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the heads up. That color is rich! Bro’ country should always be contraindicated.
Never save potentiometers. They ARE a wearing part. ALWAYS replace them if the guitar is to be used. Leave to old pots in the case.
Suitable for......🤣
Oh, so now not only are you impersonating a luthier but you're discriminating against strippers!
Where is the next part?
I respect how you often willingly present your f-ups so we too can learn from them instead of editing the video so it looks like everything all worked swell from the outset.

Wait what's the main channel???
I can’t find part 2 of this video why is this so hard

Would not a sander be easier to use overall?
My goodness you have the patience of a saint !

Is this the start of your comedy career?

Not sure what Mohawk has against Christians, but it must be some deep seated resentment of some kind..

See both the guitar and bass in action in this video. ua-cam.com/video/5apEctKwiD8/v-deo.html
..yea, but how come no follow up on this, i wanted to see you play the finished result, ..what a jip
..is that fully hollow, ..or does it have a block of wood running thru the center?
Tell the truth, that crappy finish was some of your early work. :)
What was the color you ended up using? It looks spectacular!
I'd put a guitar neck on it with a nice old set of surface mount DeArmonds
Please more Dashner guitar restorations!
I've stayed tuned, but there don't seem to be any more instalments?
Whats the paint code on that gold? Looks good. Thanks!
yeah thats why you use pinstriping tape to cover the binding before you spray or at least for the primer coat then level it up with clear
I am LUTHIER!!!!!!
You probably need extra sparkly lacquer for contemporary xtian music. ✨️✨️✨️😉😆
Ahhh here's part 2 ..
Thanks for the heads up... The body is looking pretty awesome.. Nice work Boss.
I apologize for my first post ..

Can we see the end result??????
Minwax spray lacquer works as good as the expensive specialty lacquer. It’s all I use now because I can buy it in quart cans for about $15.
i don't know how YT buried this content of yours from me, i had no idea you had a 2nd channel for guitars, i'm so excited! the genres approved for the lacquer cracked me up 😆
Finally!!!! ❤️
Where's part 2?
Any update?
Turns out the clear lacquer works fine for bro country, too! (Nice video!)
I loved that one. I'm glad I subscribed to that less known channel of yours. This restoration is so interesting I am just wondering why you wanna keep it separate from your main and ultra popular channel. Let more people know about it. Thank you and can't wait for part two.
Look amazing, but after all this time why no part 3?
Same lovely voice doing wonderful restoration projects⭐️👍
did I hear a faint 'Mellencamp' after he said Vox Cougar? 🤣
Awesome video. Looks great!
It's possible...
This Guitar Is made by or EKO o Crucianelli. This brands made guitars for Vox or Bourns in a 60's years
Thanks for the second part.. You did a great job!
Very nice, I do like a gold top finish on semi-hollow guitars.
Noooooooooooo!
@DashnerGuitars What paint stripper did you use?
This video seems eerily similar to one posted a while back.
Beautiful work!
Are you going to post it to your main channel too? As much as I've been looking forward to your video, I have also secretly looked forward to the comments section ;)
where is the next installment?
I left it around here somewhere....
I do hope you have an update for this guitar forthcoming 🙂 Looks good so far. I'd like to see how you sorted the other issues out.
Great results, congratulations.

Yes. Thanks for watching.
Grande trabalho, parabéns

+1 on all
I love this ! Here for this ! I support this !
Now I’ve watched 2 of your channels from the beginning 👍🏾. You started my woodworking journey 👀 so thanks
Wow great video. I subscribed and am excited to see more. I love your commitment to doing it the correct way even if you have to redo some stuff
Thank you!
@DashnerGuitars when or where is part 2?
All things considered, "Dashner Guitars" is just a wonderful combination of words that I was very happy to be introduced to today. Thank you for sharing! 🙏
Sorry you had to start over, but I'm SO glad you paid proper attention to the binding.
