One more fight stands between you and glory, and it’s going to be the toughest fight of your life. You’re disoriented, you’re confused, you’re wondering why it all wasn’t enough and the music reflects this. The shifts in tempo and pitch reflect your crumbling mental state. What if Blue really is your superior, and you just have to accept it? Yet you continue to fight, you whittle his first Pokémon down to its breaking point and the music gets more upbeat, more inspirational. You finally take down his first line of defense, and an even stronger Pokémon takes its place, as the music returns to its disorienting, thunderous beginning. With each Pokémon you take down, you feel hope, and yet each time he brings another to the battlefield, stronger and more ready to pounce on your weakness. And no matter how the odds favour you as the battle continues, the music never calms. This is Blue Oak, and he will rip everything from you in an instant if you get careless.
I feel FRLG are better RPG's and feel more rooted as classic pokemon games. Lets go does a lot better with immersing you into the world, but at the cost of that "what next" feeling you get with an RPG that doesn't try to dictate how your journey goes. I think FRLG really excels at letting you "come across" the events since you have roadblocks that point you away from what the next step is NOT, until you run into what you're "supposed" to do. Lets Go emphasises how pokemon are your partners in this world with other trainers, which I think is a shame we don't see GameFreak follow the insane depth and character Kanto had in Lets Go.
best rival in pokemon history. i remember as a 8yr old kid i always had a challenge against Blue and his diverse team. It really taught me the concept of having that diversity of movesets and typing throughout my childhood and even now. Also facing Blue the second time and seeing tyranitar for the first time in my life along with this music went so hard. great memories.

Leon's theme has the most triumphant and grandiose theme befitting the final quest to becoming a champion... But Blue's has a more tense feeling, and it really shouts, "Can you REALLY defeat me?"
Fire Red was my first pokemon game. I remember finally getting past the elite four. The shock horror when I realised there was a fifth battle is something that I associate with this music to this day. When I hear the opening the trauma hits…

This game is very unappreciated. Most people shrug it off and don't really care, thinking that it isn't superior to the original. If you're one of those people, then you're dead wrong! FireRed/LeafGreen fixes almost all the horrendous features that made generation one overwhelmingly awful. While at the same time adding more Pokemon to catch, more areas to explore and a bigger sense of completion. And people have the audacity to say that generation one is better than any other generation? They're obviously blinded by nostalgia. Yes, I grew up with fond memories of generation one, however, I'm not one of the ignorant fools who assume this game is garbage without playing the damn game. Yes, the games were great, however, the games are way outdated and are an atrocity by today's standards. It is time for people to move on!
XchampionXFTW That is fair criticism. And I can agree that FireRed and LeafGreen aren't perfect. However, I can say wholeheartedly that most of the flaws are fixed from Red and Blue, making it a very good reboot. It makes me sad how nobody in the Pokemon community even glances an eye at FireRed and LeafGreen.
Only flaw I find with it is the infamous Roar Glitch. If a roaming legendary in FR/LG uses roar ( I remember specifically Entei) they may never appear again. So catching them is much more difficult.
That moment when you think you've beaten the game, just to go in the next room and find out that your rival, ASSBUTT, is the champion and you still have to beat him.
I was a silly child. My first Pokemon game was Fire Red, and I started a new game several times for stupid reasons. However, all of these reasons were basically because I thought I did something that somehow prevented me from completing the game. Needless to say, it took me quite a while to defeat the Champion for the first time. Afterwards, I spent many hours wondering Kanto aimlessly, until by chance I discovered the post-story content. It was a huge surprise to me at the time, especially since I knew almost nothing about Johto Pokemon. It was like discovering a hidden passage in your bedroom leading to a secret room. When I first saw Meganium, it was in the Trainer Tower. I was so surprised that my eyes nearly popped out of my head. It was a surreal experience.
There's something to be said for how....frantic this song is? It has this strange feeling of urgency and chaos about it, and I'm not sure what it's about, but I'm for it.
Gives me chills everytime. The start just makes me so desperate, it's so quick and disorienting! SO MUCH FUN! The only champion battle theme that actually makes me FEEL like I am in the end of the line, fighting the battle of my LIFE!
His team was more diverse asw but old games lacked a good ai if there was a good ai then it would have been near impossible to beat red in hgss unless u grind tf out and reaches near levels of red

This was my very first Champion fight, and the very first time I had ever fought a final boss or heard this kind of intense battle theme. Made me a fan for life.
This champion ost still slaps after not playing LeafGreen for like a decade. I can only imagine if Pokémon Colosseum had gotten its hands on it just like they did to the Hoenn soundtracks what'd they sound like in the vs. mode.
+Ragnar Ahlman teach him thunderbolt or thunder for first one then make it learn blizzard for bruno then shadow ball for 3rd and lance's dragons are weak to ice hoped that helped ya
This theme is incredibly intimidating. Really gave that final boss energy which made the match all the damn grander. A lot of the themes lately have been more on a light hearted victorious vibe that I cannot stand. I want to feel overwhelmed and panicked so I can fight it rather than feel like I already won (even though that’ll most likely happen anyways) That adrenaline in the heat of a climactic moment. The last theme to give this vibe was N’s fight in Gen 5 (and only N’s theme and the elite 4, gen 5 battle music is where it went downhill from the last pokemon fanfare in gyms to Alder’s theme)
Mike Hernandez First Pokémon game I got was Mystery Dungeon for the Game Boy Advanced SP, then Pokémon FireRed AND Pokémon LeafGreen for the main series. Yes, I got both, but never had a trading cable or adapter, so the fully evolved Machamp and Golem I craved were just out of reach.
There's been Pokémon battles for the fate of the entire universe which had less bombastic themes than this, which is essentially for a "nuh uh, *I'm* stronger" fight between two 10-year-olds.
I still think Blue's Champion theme is the most intimidating theme that Pokemon has made. Villain or other Champions this theme just gives off an immediate menacing vibe, and keeps it up with a fast pace with highs and lows.
Gary best rival/enemy champion: Smug attitude (even his Blastoise) Always 1 step ahead Faster & Stronger (Level wise) Team with awesome base stats Alot of cool negative personality. I want Gamefreak to make another Rival like Gary. His mean, smug attitude really reflected with his team and it was way more satisfying to beat his fucking lvl 65 Blastoise with your lvl 59 Charizard's Flamethrower
His name is not Gary its Blue, Gary is his anime counterpart. Like Ash is Red's anime counterpart which really doesn't make sense because Ash is an idiot
if we look at blue in more depth aside from being a one dimensional jerk were all supposed to be pissed at, hes a pretty sad character. grandaddy issues, literally getting shunned by his own grandpa because his childhood friend is better than him and having him literally forget his own grandsons name. like what oak said to him at the end was REALLY satisfying for us but ouch, hearing that from your grandpa? i also like to headcanon that in blues perspective, he went through his whole journey just to prove something to prof. oak that hes better than red
This theme, even if I haven’t played the games, still gives an awe of just…shock. Like, you beat lance. He says you’re the champion…if it wasn’t for your rival.

True. FRLG= Best Kanto.
Honestly, this is my favorite champion theme ever, sounds like pure struggle and dread
It still amazes me years on how such a chaotic collection of different sounds comes together to make this brilliant battle theme

best rival in pokemon history. i remember as a 8yr old kid i always had a challenge against Blue and his diverse team. It really taught me the concept of having that diversity of movesets and typing throughout my childhood and even now. Also facing Blue the second time and seeing tyranitar for the first time in my life along with this music went so hard. great memories.
When I was younger I would get to this battle and just leave it on for hours just to listen to this epicness
That guitar screech at 0:33. Perfection.

@@sant41 well yeah. I mean he's your rival.. its natural to hate you. But then he realize how wrong he is and his training method on their pokemon, and then starting to become buddies. That's simple character development is better than being buddy2 from the start till the end without any meaningful relationship.
Sorry to destroy your thoughts, but EVERY rival since 2 gen is friendly
-May/Brendan didn't even evolved his starter and you fight with it like 3 times all before half the game
-Wally only fights you 2 times
-Barry is just a fast boi
-Dawn/Lucas is a May/Brendan 2.0
-Bianca is just too friendly
-Cheren would be the most hard rival since 2nd gen but still he is friendly

I found the OG to be a little weird sounding but still okay. This one took it up a notch.
Ofc bro , the original is coming from a god damn game boy, what did you expect 💀
imo, they never bested this version, either. The world champion version in BW got close, but I still think FRLG did this theme best.

Most terrifing Song of my childhood. Love It!
0:02 this gives me goosebumps
Now this one gives me legit chills. So many memories. And the games were so hard back then, the originals, I mean.
Careful there friend! Someone might have heard you when you said "generation one" and "afwul" in the same sentence. xD
Yeah, I guarantee people are going to disagree with this statement. Ehh, at the same time I really don't give a damn.
I just really dislike how you couldn't evolve certain pokemon till u got the national dex and that a lot of features were not carried over
XchampionXFTW That is fair criticism.
I named my rival gary
I named him blue but in my new game file i called him ''asshole'' XD
*NUTSACK
my player's name is My name and my rival's name is my boyfriend's name
"Mmmm, I'm pretty sure it's 'Dildoface'."

The nostalgia of this almost made me shed a tear. Honestly the best championship music in all the games imo.
The pokémon battles that I will never forget are against Blue and Cynthia, the most difficult rivals I have faced.
There's something to be said for how....frantic this song is? It has this strange feeling of urgency and chaos about it, and I'm not sure what it's about, but I'm for it.
Me replaying FRLG after 10 years, no longer using the overpowered starter tactic to Blue:
"My powers have doubled since the last time we met!"
I like how imitating it is for Blue and Blastoise smirking at the player just because they know they’re stronger than you
HANDS DOWN the best champion theme.
Gives me chills everytime. The start just makes me so desperate, it's so quick and disorienting! SO MUCH FUN! The only champion battle theme that actually makes me FEEL like I am in the end of the line, fighting the battle of my LIFE!
he was 100x more terrifying than cynthia when i unlocked the sevii islands

Assfart's theme is literally just every instrument clashing together...

This theme is incredibly intimidating. Really gave that final boss energy which made the match all the damn grander. A lot of the themes lately have been more on a light hearted victorious vibe that I cannot stand. I want to feel overwhelmed and panicked so I can fight it rather than feel like I already won (even though that’ll most likely happen anyways)
That adrenaline in the heat of a climactic moment. The last theme to give this vibe was N’s fight in Gen 5 (and only N’s theme and the elite 4, gen 5 battle music is where it went downhill from the last pokemon fanfare in gyms to Alder’s theme)
The fact that Blue and Blastoise share a smirk. It's Tajiri and Sugimori's way of telling you to pick Charmander so that Blue will have Blastoise.
i picked bulbasaur

I still think Blue's Champion theme is the most intimidating theme that Pokemon has made. Villain or other Champions this theme just gives off an immediate menacing vibe, and keeps it up with a fast pace with highs and lows.
Gary best rival/enemy champion:
Smug attitude (even his Blastoise)
Always 1 step ahead
Faster & Stronger (Level wise)
Team with awesome base stats
Alot of cool negative personality.
I want Gamefreak to make another Rival like Gary. His mean, smug attitude really reflected with his team and it was way more satisfying to beat his fucking lvl 65 Blastoise with your lvl 59 Charizard's Flamethrower
Kaan Dagdas or you could solo his whole team with your level 83 Charizard like 10 yo me
His name is not Gary its Blue, Gary is his anime counterpart. Like Ash is Red's anime counterpart which really doesn't make sense because Ash is an idiot
Oof.

if we look at blue in more depth aside from being a one dimensional jerk were all supposed to be pissed at, hes a pretty sad character. grandaddy issues, literally getting shunned by his own grandpa because his childhood friend is better than him and having him literally forget his own grandsons name. like what oak said to him at the end was REALLY satisfying for us but ouch, hearing that from your grandpa?
i also like to headcanon that in blues perspective, he went through his whole journey just to prove something to prof. oak that hes better than red
