Brilliant strategist. He used endure twice and was able to have his Heracross survive a hyper beam AND a Hydro pump. Also, using Rock Tomb to reduce Alakazams speed so that Heracross can one shot it. Finally notice he never used any healing items or revives the entire time despite the team being under leveled in comparison to the rival. True gold right here people.
I sincerely hope you’re joking. Guy hasn’t got a clue, he could have taken Alakazam out with Heracross right away as the type advantage was there, instead he decides to kill off his Kingdra and Dugtrio for no reason whatsoever. Not to mention that the fact that his team is horrible to begin with.
I thought it was silly that he switched out his Heracross against the Alakazam and ended up getting a few of his Pokemon swept because of it, but other than that he had really good plays.
nah he sucked DICK, its not a battle like that because your opponent is Blue and he's easy. The drama, stress, anxiety, intensity and the thrilling of victory shouldn't occur when facing Blue but instead facing Red or Steven those are worthy opponents unlike Blue
That was fun to watch, not that many people actually put them selves at a disadvantage against the CPU, the fight actually felt like a final battle between two equals and was pretty tense, especially with how slow the hp bars go down in this game.
You know, seeing this as an adult, it really hits me how emotionally abusive professor Oak was to his grandson. Gary did really well. Sure, he had a short reign as a champion, but he defeated the Elite Four. It's an incredible accomplishment and any decent parental figure would be proud. Instead, his grandfather strolls in, invalidates him AGAIN (after forgetting his name, favoring you etc for the entirety of the game) and praises only you. Supposedly Gary lost because he didn't love his pokemon, but we never actually saw that. He's the second strongest in the region, so if a bond between a trainer and their Pokemon is so important for strength, Gary must have amazing bonds with his Pokemon. He was never shown to mistreat them. Imagine your parents at graduation saying they're disappointed in you because the neighbor's kid made better grades. Now multiply that by a million. This is what Gary must have felt like here. It's easy to dislike Gary because of his arrogance to you, but the way he's treated by his grandfather is messed up.

Yup this is why I think Pokemon's battle system still holds up. It's actually a really good system but the problem is the games balance so much in the player's favor to the point where it becomes very easy.
