I gotta tell ya, you make some of the best cases that I've ever seen. And not only that, you make the videos and share the files with us. I appreciate that! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I just rewatched this one yesterday and I realized I have improved this case a lot since this video. I’m planning to make an update video soon with all the changes I made to the Lilygo cases, and then I have a series of Heltec cases I’m about to put out, as well as some RAK stuff. It’s awesome that so many people are enjoying them! These cases will also be released for free by the way!
I managed to find the best Laura radio and placed an order and now to find the best case wow I love it and as a tribute to you for all your design input I should really print it out in a Carbon fiber 18650 nail polish pink filament. I love this case a THANK YOU from me . Love it
Hello ! Seems great ! The possiblity of tripod is a such a good idea. Smart an good design. I can't wait to find someone to print it ! Thank you for this nice video and for sharing !
I have to tell you, I had my local library print this case out for me and am just now getting it together. Its GROOVY. Thanks so much for doing this. Oh, and the video is cool too. :P
I printed this case and I have to say it is very rugged and is just what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing your wonderful design! One thing that I noticed is that the SMA connector turns when I go to tighten it. It's not your design, it's how it is mounted in their clear plastic bracket. Congratulations on a wonderful design.
@@randomalleycat You're welcome. One of my friends from work and I are both setting up a couple of Lilygo LORA's "in the wild" to help create a Lora network here in the Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington area.
Outstanding! I have been looking for case that can be attached to gear. Perfect! I will be printing a couple of these as soon as I get back to my printer.
Let me know how it goes! I also posted a clip that is perfect for mounting it to molle. I need to make a new video with all the updates I made to this and the T-Deck.
Mines printing in black PETG now, will a 21700 fit in the back? If not, that might be a nice mod since you can swap out the holder for a 21700 holder pretty easily and gain a good chunk of power which these could use...
I thought about it and I probably will later, but I wanted this case to be good for beginners, and not a lot of them are going to be disordering the 18650 holder. I do have a RAK case coming soon that has the same design but a little shorter, and it uses a 21700. That’s a better choice also because the RAK uses a lot less power.
Any standard tripod will do, the one I have in the video came with a cheap selfie stick from Amazon. a.co/d/9RDos3X If you're looking for the adapter, here's a link for that: a.co/d/fw1nDtG You don't have to get that exact one, just any that look like those, it's a pretty standard design.
Very impressed with the design, well done! Looks really solid, and for sure does not sacrifice the style either. 😎 I also spend a lot of time making some complex parts sometimes and even 3D modeling entire projects to find ideas and have a better vision of the final thing beforehands. Great printer too, I got a Prusa MK2.5 that has helped me with so many things for the past 7 years already! I was just looking into that whole Meshtastic thing, and I was thinking of getting a device to play around with a bit and satisfy the curiosity. I might very well go for this one to start with...
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I started with a Mk2 and got the Mk3 when it came out. The magnetic bed was definitely a good upgrade! I definitely think the T-Beam Supreme is a good place to start. It's not necessarily the best Meshtastic device, but it's really easy to get setup and running. You might want to get two and give one to a nearby friend!
@@randomalleycat Oh I started with the MK2 as well! But I went for the 2.5 upgrade kit that adds the magnetic bed. Best upgrade ever for that printer, it made it so much better to use! Plus it auto calibrates when you change filament, that was also a huge plus. I didn't get the MK3, but now I see the newer models, maybe by the end of this year I'll finally get a MK4 or if I'm crazy enough the XL (the added volume can help for some stuff!). Yes I was thinking about getting two, but maybe not the same model, so I can compare a bit. In fact I'm not sure there is any/not much Meshtastic activity over here (I'm from Reunion Island). But then there is also the whole MQTT stuff, so I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun playing around with that. That said, not all models are easy to buy here either, so there is that 😅 I'm trying to decide what model to get now!
@@Slay3rOne Oh yeah, shipping is probably a challenge I'm sure! I'd love to come visit someday, but if you get set up on MQTT we can send messages until then!
@@randomalleycat Always a challenge, but there is always some solution. For sure! I definitely will try MQTT, otherwise it might be pretty limited here I suspect.
-I might get a regular T-Beam V1.2 instead of the Supreme for now, it's much easier to purchase for me at this time.- _(I changed my mind)_ Quick question if you don't mind. You have both right? The Supreme is the more recent design, a little more modular, USB-C instead of micro, the antenna mounted differently and a choice for a better GPS. But apart from that is one better than the other? It looks to me like both are pretty similar otherwise.
@@randomalleycat I really liked what you did with the case. I am currently looking at buying a meshtastic board just not sure which one yet. Great work 😁73
I had the TBeam v1.1 but I got this one because the Ublox M10 is a big improvement over the NEO-6 and even the NEO-8. Heltec is pretty popular, but I haven’t had anything from them yet. I might get one soon though just to compare.
@@randomalleycat yes I've been looking at them too. Not too sure what the difference is between the V2 and V3 but will be interesting to see what type of case you come up wit. You will have to keep me posted 😁🙏🏽🤙🏽
This could be great. Actually, I am a designer and I have a good command of the program. But it is very difficult to design and imagine a product. At this point I feel incomplete and I don't know how to improve myself.
@@mavikiraz2676 I had always wanted to learn CAD, but every time I tried, I just felt overwhelmed and had no idea where to start or what to do. Then one day I thought of something I really wanted, but it didn't exist. In a way it felt like what people say about sculptors, that they just remove everything that isn't what they want. Like they have the thing in their mind and then they can actually make it. When that happened, I just needed to figure out what steps I needed to take in CAD for the thing I thought if to appear, but it was so much easier when I knew my destination before I started. @@randomalleycat functionality! i especially have trouble with the power button.
