Today we are joined again by Mickey Bufalini the principal and partner at collaborative design group here in Houston Texas. She will be speaking to you about Her picks for the Hottest Custom Home Trends of 2021.
A little bit about us:
For home buyers who love detailed architecture, we are an award-winning custom home builder with a reputation for meticulous attention-to-detail, fine carpentry, and distinctive quality. Our focus on luxury custom homes can be seen in some of Houston's finest neighborhoods, including Memorial, Spring Valley, Hilshire Village, Garden Oaks, and the Heights.
Great ideas. I love this kind of content. I enjoy seeing what can go into a new build so it can be considered before it's a hassle
Very informative! Thanks.
Great information, great video guys!
Building codes require a one hour fire resistant separation between garages and living spaces in single family houses. Making that separation airtight is required by energy codes adopted by the states. Decorators endanger the lives of the occupants of the house if they remove that separation. As a practical matter, they are assuming huge liabilities.
Butler pantry really is a must have but not sold on the luxury closets. We went from none to they have become rooms. Also, havnt heard anyone talk about bigger bathrooms and wet rooms
we might just own more clothes than the average person before, which makes sense considering how much more accessible clothing has become (think fast fashion), but we do have more bathrooms in the house on average than before, I guess they just haven't grown in size
What about tinted windows will they be better than clear?
Yup! I discovered it was way too difficult to get the car into the living room. We bought a warehouse and moved the Livingroom to the garage! Now if I could just find a red 1957 Thunderbird ......
Interesting trends. I am glad you did not show plant shelves. I do wish architects would take our pets more seriously.
In the kitchen, open upper storage shelves instead of cabinets could be reckless in earthquake country. Cabinets can mitigate broken glass flying around. Frankly, open shelving could even become an attractive nuisance for cats.
Speaking of cats, it would be nice to build in some architecturally pleasing places high up for them to settle and enjoy all they survey. With cats gaining in popularity as pets, maybe that sort of thoughtfulness will become a future popular feature, the way houses have already expanded to include washing stations for dogs.
I'm glad elevators are a trend. With the appalling prices of new homes, that could ease some of the outrage..
The tops of tall bookshelves and cabinets make excellent catwalks.
