I grew up on Africa and Weird Al and am proud to say that my 9 year old has taken up appreciation for both. Some songs and artists are simply timeless.
My favorite thing about this video was the ending. Al bumped the keyboards AND gave a fist bump when asked for a high 5! I love him with all of the nerd in me.
He apparently shows up to play accordion ans sing a bit at lots of concerts. Usually donating his fee to charity (but he doesn’t like to let that fact out. A real class act!)
He has the talent to both play and do music and concert production in the styles of every artist he's done a parody of. So he's definitely got that going for him. Weezer does their thing, but perhaps not to the level that somebody usually considered a novelty act does.
Weird Al is a F’n legend. My dad introduced me to him in the early 90s and the dude and his band have got mad skills. They play all types of music and do it marvelously.

Let's take a moment to recognize what happened here. Weezer, a great band with many hits and a large setlist, changed things up to do a cover just so they could bring Weird Al on to jam with him with an audience. And the crowd loved it.
They cover this song all the time. Its on the radio all the time lol. This wasnt out of the ordinary besides weird al performing also.

They didn't change things up "Just" to have Weird Al play with them. Not only has Weezer ALWAYS played covers to some capacity, they recorded a whole EP of covers, one of which is AFRICA
I LOVE Weezer. But they decided to -honestly awkwardly- pull "Africa" into their REGULAR setlist. And play it at encore as if it's THEIR hit song and not....you know a cover of an incredibly beloved and constantly played song.
To say they "Changed things up" is a lie. They regularly do this. To say they did it just to "Bring Weird Al on to jam" is an even BIGGER lie.
