13:56 I’m going to argue against this, assault would be OP with 3 armor pips because you can swap objectives faster than any other player. Any time a singular teammate is pushing a side objective you can get there to help them faster than any other player. You also split your opponents focus between the sky and the ground, trust the assault is the ultimate support class.
Commenting this in the hopes bricky sees it. You can swap game modes by going to that menu area where you would select a game mode and then leaving. It'll ask you if you want to swap game modes. Its weird but works.
You can swap game modes without joining games, when you’re in the barge scroll over to the game mode you want and then exit the menu and it’ll just leave you in the barge in the mode you’re trying to play
PSA on lobby switching without joining a game 1 select the game mode (only tab over to it) 2 hit whatever back button is for you (B/O/esc key) and it gives the "SWITCHING GAME MODE" prompt 3 select "Accept" and it will drop you into the desired lobby This should be reworked when they launch private lobbies later but for now we have this.
Switching shoulders for the camera, adding parry to melee, and stun for melee weapons(depending on which weapon, balanced against attack speed) are necessary changes to pvp the game needs imo. Further still the parry/block mechanics should revolve around which weapon is attacking/blocking, once again balanced against attack speed, knock-back/stun, damage. For instance by comparison: -current hammer changes: -10% attack speed, +5%-7% attack range, highest stun, highest knock-back, unable to be parried, able to be blocked as possible with bulwark(I’m not sure for this or it’s damage what an adjustment would be if needed), difficult to parry with, unable to block gunfire. -current chainsword changes: +10% attack speed, no stun, lowest knock-back, “easiest” to parry(but second quickest attack), can be blocked effectively, effective to parry with, unable to block gunfire. I understand adding an entire dimension of melee mechanics into the game might be impossible at this point, but I think it’d actually be the difference between a fun campaign to replay in a couple years to a regular weekly pvp standard the boys play every night when they don’t know what to play(like a fortnight, halo, cod, etc.) Some additional changes that could vastly improve the pvp multiplayer system: -add a similar system as the campaign for critical shots/strikes following a successful parry. -executions that trigger in the few frames of a stunned enemy below or around 1/3 health that are quick, not lasting longer than the average time to finish off said opponent otherwise(mostly to mitigate any damage they might have done before death, or escaping). -increase time to kill by at least 10% (minus 10% to incoming damage, after final adjustments). -*even considering the above, this may be a stretch* some sort of locked struggle or dual mechanism similar to chainsaw duals of gears, perhaps tied to a near successful parry attack to the side resulting in either an execution or critical strike(depending upon who wins, and what the health of the loser is). This surely is within the category of a pipe-dream as I read it, but this is actually how dynamic I expected the pvp combat to be in this game.

Also his complainst about the story are goofy, it's a warhammer game why are we expecting some game of thrones type of story haha
@@gomaboto I really don't expect anythig from the story, it's gona be a space marine wank fest, Nothing wrong with that, but to say "erm the pvp feels last minute because there are only 3 maps and no description for the gamemode" when they probably spent so mutch time balancing the classes so that they could work against each other and counter each other properly is just in bad faith and far fetched
Very meaty weapon hits and complex movement are the best recipe for a very satisfying shooter. The game delivers that. Needs some good amount of polish though.
Remember eternal crusade where melee was amazing. You had stuns, lights and heavy attacks. When attacks of rhe same type vlashed then the durability of your weapons mattered. A combat knife had lowest durability. Thenncame chain weapons, then power weapons. But then it all came down to atttacks. Lights iterrupted i believe heavies, heavies powered theough stun attacks and stunn attacks power through lights. Honestly i enjoyed it a lot.
Pro tip for chainsword duels, the combos from pve are the same in pvp, so a light - heavy (kick combo) will stagger your opponent, allowing you to win the fight.
Assault is actually quite good I consistently get above a 2.0 KD but it’s by far the hardest to get good at relying on flanking and using you get pack to repeatedly ground pound (IE warp talon up and down on a team ) I spent a whole day in order to get a feel for the class as a whole.
15:35 on the pvp melee combat, I think as the game goes it will become more then “who swings first.” As you said you can block, dodge, and weapon combos are set. But each weapon has multiple combos, all of which have different timings, as well as a heavy attack that breaks blocking (and I think some weapons have specific combo strings that break block as well but I’m not sure). So I’m half sure that down the line melee combat will become more of a dance then the swing fest it is right now. Game did just come out after all lol.
I've been adoring running about as a sniper, cloaking to get up behind heavies and shred them, or set up shop as a free bullet salesman heavy in corridors. Bulwark are the bane of my existence though. Hefty passive defense vs ranged from their big ass shield which also seems to mitigate all melee damage to the front. Lotta survivability for next to no commitment beyond turning to face your opponent. Still learning the ropes but theyre the big hurdle I'm currently facing/learning.
Super specific, but there is a way to swap lobbies without immediately joining a game. Just hover over the game mode, and hit escape or circle or B or whatever and it will let you swap modes without joining a queue. 👍
Bulwark can also just stand still and block bullets. On controller its L1/LB. Stand near a grenade spot and just chuck grenades at enemies and any that try to rush you usually get melted by your team. Additionally bulwarks, while guarding, can eat a frag grenade blast and take no damage. You have to be looking at the grenade, not on top of it, and it will stagar your guard but yeah there you go.
The problem with assault is that they have you float in the air for a second to "charge up" your strike down. It's awkward and means you're an easy shot for everyone on the ground.
Assault class needs to be played very specifically. Jump in, kill, jump out. Hit and run, essentially. It’s a playstyle a lot easier said than it is done.
Assault is hands down one of the best classes. Heavy? Stun nade or kark nade. You can run laps around a heavy. Bullwark? Sticky nade again stuns him. The zip line boy is aids and flying boi is a hard counter. I think every class is balanced besides vandguard because the range and stun spams are a bit broken.. it grabs through heavy shield too which is BS.
Regarding 17:30 about swapping to PVP: if I understand correctly, you want to just 'swap' to the PVP mode so you could just customize your classes for it etc? You can! In the overall mode selection (Operations, Campaign, PVP) just select Eternal Crusade at the top and close the menu - it'll ask if you want to change, choose yes and bam, you're now sitting in your PVP Barge. 🙂
17:31 You can move to the multiplayer/operations battle badge instance by just scrolling over to eternal war/operations tab and backing out. You don't need to join/que a game then back out.
TTK feels a little too short and grenades are insanely strong, but I think after some balance adjustments and bug fixes this multi-player will be very good.
I have a feeling going to be just like ME3 when they add a whole bunch of stuff as times goes. Like a "Crusade" mode sim to For Honor Siege mode or BF Rush mode with 10 v 10 and PVE soldiers for both sides would be dope and fit the universe
One thing i realised about the game that also makes it feel like a good ass classic 2010's pvp is both cosmetics are unlocked through either in game currency thats not Micro, or through doing stuff in the game. The other thing is matchmaking, you will stay in the same lobby with the same people match after match unless you leave and requeue
A pretty big grape I have is that your customization is separate from multiplayer in co-op, so you need to make your co-op space Marine a second time and update it constantly
I had SO much fun with the campaign. I'm kinda hoping they add more. The last time I had this much fun in a shooter campaign mode was Halo Reach. The rest like COD and Destiny 2 were kind of meh. This had some awesome moments that brought me back to the days of Gears of War, Halo Reach, COD Black Ops 2 and so on. Then the PVE online mode is also a breath of fresh air. It's great trying to figure out how to work together with each person's build and such. As a prior Helldivers player(can't anymore they ruined it) I love it.
sounds like its got that gears of war feel with the tacked on multiplayer, and honestly, for some reason those always seem to be some of the most fun and rememberable multiplayer games.
I haven't played SM2 yet (did play SM1 though) but I'm super looking forwards to playing. I've heard people say that the campaign isn't super long, and that the multiplayer doesn't have enough progression or variety, but it just sounds so... Video-Game-y to me. In a time where so many games are desperately trying to be live service behemoths or become the next big PvP game that has to have all the players, it's got me excited to just hear "It's just basic multiplayer, you just pick a game mode and play".
Funny how the Night Lords are the Assault Class and the World Eaters being the Vanguard. "Yeah, give the Nightlords the noisy and cumbersome weapons with jetpacks and have the Khorne mfs equipped with knives and grapple hooks that can have them hang around the ceiling. Clearly there's nothing wrong with that. That's who they are afterall"
downing and executing enemies looks great in PVE and would be even more satisfying in PVP. That plus limited/no respawns per round would make teamwork and tactics all the more essential (Gears of War basically)

notably the 3 Chaos Legions that they've left out do each seem like they'd have a very obvious class for the Loyalists to use
Thousand Sons vs Librarian
Word Bearers vs Chaplain
and Emperor's Children vs Apothecary
@@Eclipsed_Embers you mean "as"?
@@63Limar I've said "as" before and had people coming in to correct me saying that the Chaos Legions don't have Librarians and Chaplains (which felt kinda dumb since I felt that it was obvious enough to go without saying that the Thousand Sons equivalent to a Librarian would be a Sorcerer and the Word Bearers equivalent to a Chaplain would be a Dark Apostle)
but now I've been corrected on both ways of saying it so I suppose in future I'll specifically say "Thousand Sons Sorcerer vs loyalist Librarian, Word Bearers Dark Apostle vs loyalist Chaplain, and Emperor's Children Apothecary vs loyalist Apothecary"
@@Eclipsed_Embers yeah I assumed it in terms of game design "classes" and not as lore.
If they expand more on this pvp part it will be amazing. Imagine bigger like 12v12 maps, some additional classes like the rumored Apothecary? This shit could be B O P P I N
(Also pls add noise marines Focus I beg of you)
I agree.Even throw in some enemy bots that attack both sides to add more chaos. Is the melee/parry included in the pvp?I like distance battles, but getting up close and decimating opponents is pulse pounding.
@@JediMindTrix420yeah we need some npc fodder space marines to fight and feel cool with our "named" player character marines lmao with the lore and books and the disparity between named astartes and unnamed ones that're there to just die and make the named characters look cooler,, i wouldnt mind
that. throw some renegades, skittarii and guardsmen into the mix. lmao some weapons servitors or those servitors on big tank treads with tank weapons would be fun too
@JediMindTrix420 yes melee works similar in PvP but it's much faster paced because there's no indicators like in PvE
12v12 sounds like light work for them, me seeing how massive the AI or things they can put on screen
Noise Marines and modern radio pop music starts playing whenever you’re hit by a sonic weapon
Honestly, the only thing I would want for Chaos customization is just the ability to at least xhange the faction that my heretic belongs to. Even if all I can change is the colors on them, I'd love to play as an Assault World eater, or a Heavy Death Guard, or even a tactical Iron Warrior.
Give me that and I'd be happy.
yeah not having an assault world eater feels like a crime. a bulwark world eater is just moronic, they dont care for shields. they want to close in as fast as possible with a sword and optional gun.
I'm so sad there's no Thousand Sons option, too. No love for magic boys :(
@@TheJamieellis I actually have a sort of prediction for that.
We have alot of types of marines represented, but we have none for Psykers and Apothecaries
I think that they might add them both in the future, and the Psykers will be Thousand Sons while Apothecaries are Emperors Children.
@@adorablecenturion8436 Could justify it if they add q bunch of spikes to the shield ^^
You can actually do that. I am currently playing as tactical iron warrior
You can swap lobbies, you have to select the type of game mode (Campaign, PVE, PVP) and there should a pop up that says "Do you want to change what you're playing" without starting you into matchmaking. The menu design is something
It does ask if you want to swap game modes.
Just hover over whichever mode you want to play and press O or esc and it will ask if you want to swap and you’ll just go straight into the battle barge for that mode with no queue up.
Thank you for this because I was having this exact issue and couldn't believe that they wouldn't have added at least some way to swap without queuing into a match
14:17 Maaaan, Assault marines always get the shaft in video games 😂. I remember even back in Dawn of War, they would fall apart like tissue paper in range and melee combat.
My favorite thing about these tacked on multiplayers is exactly what you said, that despite them being tacked on they were actually amazing, like gears of war and bioshock 2 multiplayers were honestly some of my favorite multiplayers of all time and they were both afterthoughts for single player games
This may be controversial, but imo multiplayers SHOULD be afterthoughts to single player games, we get better games when that's the case
in a dev interview they said they are gonna be adding more classes and weps etc in future updates so cross fingers for more fun pvp in future
With the success we will be getting more stuff from Hoard mode and adding Terminators in the future .
Terminator? I doubt that tbh.
@@andylastname566it was in the first game and I was apart of Chapter Master Valraks community where we messaged game companies to make a second space marine game . Capture and Control / ignore the objective. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
Annihilation / BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
in all seriousness I've been playing a fair bit of PvP and I find that players sorted onto the Chaos side (which I have so far ended up on in every single game) consistently lose in the Seize Ground and Capture and Control modes due to them ignoring the objective in favor of just racking up the higher kill count
I’m just so happy that the Vanguard plays like Phobos Marines do in Kill Team
Yeah, the PvP is so damn addicting, even though it's clearly undercooked.
IRON WITHIN! IRON WITHOUT!
the way you describe the counterplay between classes remind me how the titans in titanfall 2 interact with each other
Oh my god, now I know why this was reminding me of something. If you ever played the transformers Fall of Cybertron multiplayer, this is really close to it.
Yea it is. But i liked transformers mp better
it was tacked on in the first game as well but it was SUPER amazing to play and sooooo much fun i really hope they give us the customization we had in the first game for Chaos cos we could really paint them in the first one.
can't wait for playing as grapple hook world eater, screaming "FIRE THE URSA CLAW" in discord

I'm surprised people are having performance issues and I am not... I have a mid tier budget PC and haven't dropped frames or had a crash and I'm running it on high settings. I've only played the campaign at this point though.
What specs are you rocking, if I may ask?

You probably have a quality SSD. That thing is putting in work as well.
It's one of the few games that is pretty cpu heavy (with all the swarms), instead of the bottleneck being at the gpu level.
1. It’s not release day and 2. Crossplay curses loading screen bugs and issues atm but main issues are: crashes, lip dysnc of cutscenes and lagging cutscenes, extremely long loading screens, loading into a operation will put you back into the battle barge temporarily before the mission starts.
1. Ppl pay 50% extra then justify issues by saying "it isn't release day", one can't make this up.
@@HighLanderPonyYT I mean, they're literally paying for early access. You go into an early access title knowing that you will be facing the brunt of performance and bug issues before the first patches can come through
Not having 40k pvp like this for a long time was a missed opportunity especially when gears of war was hella popular back then.
I’m glad they finally did GOW pvp game again
Invisible SMG/Sniper guy? Welcome Ghost Recon Online, gone but not forgotten
This is exactly what multiplayer should be, an extra to a single player game.
I hope they add a MP mode that’s the same as the ME3 multiplayer. That would be a recipe for success. Give me co-op horde mode where I can build and upgrade my character.
It is already confirmed to come in season 3 i think. So your hopes are reality
I hope they keep improving it and expanding upon what they've built here they really have a solid foundation just gotta add more goodies
The PvP definitely tickles the same part of my brain as Halo 3 and Reach did. I've basically done nothing but PvP since the early release. 42 hours logged and I'm sitting at level 20
What if you wanted to go on a Black Crusade..?
But the Chaos Gods said "the servants of the Corpse God claim the objective."

i really do hope that they change how the heretics work with customization
I really hope this game keeps getting support for more than a year. I haven't been able to play it and probably won't for a few months but everything I've seen and heard about this game is surprisingly positive, waiting 10+ years for a sequel seems to have paid off. Also they gotta add chaos customization for pve I yearn to be a beefy iron warrior fighting tyranids.
I think you can only play loyalists in pve
also for bulwark if you press C you will raise your shield and never die.
"Unfinished but very fun" is how I would describe the entire game, not just the PVP.
Right off the bat, we should be able to toggle third person camera angles and pvp match time should be extended.
Assault is strong af. I drop 20 bomb games back to back to back with it. 2 nades is stupid strong.
I really wish we could swap the camera to the left shoulder
Commenting this in the hopes bricky sees it. You can swap game modes by going to that menu area where you would select a game mode and then leaving. It'll ask you if you want to swap game modes. Its weird but works.
Seeing a khorne berserker with a bolter is cursed
You can swap game modes without joining games, when you’re in the barge scroll over to the game mode you want and then exit the menu and it’ll just leave you in the barge in the mode you’re trying to play
PSA on lobby switching without joining a game
1 select the game mode (only tab over to it)
2 hit whatever back button is for you (B/O/esc key) and it gives the "SWITCHING GAME MODE" prompt
3 select "Accept" and it will drop you into the desired lobby
This should be reworked when they launch private lobbies later but for now we have this.
Fun it may be, but there's no Emperor's Children yet and that is truly egregious.

Aight. FOR THE EMPEROR! *runs to Steam*
For instance by comparison:
-current hammer changes: -10% attack speed, +5%-7% attack range, highest stun, highest knock-back, unable to be parried, able to be blocked as possible with bulwark(I’m not sure for this or it’s damage what an adjustment would be if needed), difficult to parry with, unable to block gunfire.
-current chainsword changes: +10% attack speed, no stun, lowest knock-back, “easiest” to parry(but second quickest attack), can be blocked effectively, effective to parry with, unable to block gunfire.
I understand adding an entire dimension of melee mechanics into the game might be impossible at this point, but I think it’d actually be the difference between a fun campaign to replay in a couple years to a regular weekly pvp standard the boys play every night when they don’t know what to play(like a fortnight, halo, cod, etc.)
Some additional changes that could vastly improve the pvp multiplayer system:
-add a similar system as the campaign for critical shots/strikes following a successful parry.
Im glad to see Bricky start to warm up to th game, its everything ive wanted and expected as well as many others i know.
feels like he's just being a bit overly harsh to it tbh
@@gomabotoyeah, i don't know why. Maybe it's just overblown expectations. For me i'm having the time of my life with this game
He said he's harsher on warhammer projects, but it feels like he's being really neutral with all his takes as of late, i don't know what it is but his commentary doesn't feel as honest and solid as it used to, still love him tho
@@lorenzobaglioni9647 a lot of the things he complains about just seem like nitpicks to me. It def is a huge improvement over SM1. Better gameplay, much more content (plus more to come) as well as new modes such as operations. I don't think it's fair to say the game is unfinished just because the multiplayer doesn't have a lot of maps or customization imo.
Surprised about the campaign, I consider it a solid 8/10, fantastic
11:25 pause
Im so glad to hear the MP is solid; i played the MP on SM1 for 360 for AAAAGES. Near the end i was seeing the same people every single night
Yeah when I was playing it that's exactly how I feel like it's unfinished but give it some time and it will be perfect
Happy 200k on the Second Channel Brickler!
The night lords voice work in PVP is chefs kiss.
Pro tip for chainsword duels, the combos from pve are the same in pvp, so a light - heavy (kick combo) will stagger your opponent, allowing you to win the fight.
the fact this game has campaign, pve, pvp just shows how incredible this game is idc

Assault is actually quite good I consistently get above a 2.0 KD but it’s by far the hardest to get good at relying on flanking and using you get pack to repeatedly ground pound (IE warp talon up and down on a team ) I spent a whole day in order to get a feel for the class as a whole.
Good planning can make a tacked on mode great. Loved hearing you talk about the interplay between the classes.
"The servants of the corpse-god claim the objective!" has the same energy as "an enemy has taken our command post! Stop them!" from BRINK
Chaos customizations would be amazing
And maybe a chaos PVE
If you go to the game mode swap and hit B on the game pad it loads you straight into the battle barge instead of a queue for a match
I really REALLY want them to add a tyranid mode for pvp they have all the specials and it would work perfectly. I NEED IT
Every day, the brick gets closer to a badger collab
sounds like its got that gears of war feel with the tacked on multiplayer, and honestly, for some reason those always seem to be some of the most fun and rememberable multiplayer games.
Honestly just 3 more maps and chaos armor pieces would do a lot for this PVP. I really want to see it succeed
One of the khorne vanguard lines I loved was "I can feel angrons spite move through me!"
Would love to see pvp game types where it’s all of one type of class, with map sizes and objectives adjusted accordingly
The Assault Class also needs wider splash damage for the ground pound especially with the Thunder Hammer
I haven't played SM2 yet (did play SM1 though) but I'm super looking forwards to playing. I've heard people say that the campaign isn't super long, and that the multiplayer doesn't have enough progression or variety, but it just sounds so... Video-Game-y to me. In a time where so many games are desperately trying to be live service behemoths or become the next big PvP game that has to have all the players, it's got me excited to just hear "It's just basic multiplayer, you just pick a game mode and play".
actually the heavy, can melee you with his heavy gun, I found that out while playing in co-op missions
I feel like their both interchangeable but whatever
downing and executing enemies looks great in PVE and would be even more satisfying in PVP. That plus limited/no respawns per round would make teamwork and tactics all the more essential (Gears of War basically)
I agree. Tried pvp for the first time last night. I had a blast. Lost 4 hrs before I knew it.
