- Singapore Airlines Trip Report flying from Singapore to London, in Premium Economy Class, onboard one of the Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 on a beautiful winter day.
One of the most fantastic airplane flights I've done in my life. I think that's the best way to describe the whole experience of flying on the Singapore A380 from Singapore to London Heathrow. The A380 is always extremely comfortable. Now, if you fly Premium Economy on an A380, the experience turns perfect.
But the real journey starts at Singapore Changi Airport. What an airport!! I knew I was visiting one of the most awarded airports in the world, for many people, the best one, but still impressed me a lot! The combination between plants, trees, water, fountains... with the colorful shops, walls, and carpets makes it a real treat for the eyes of the thousands of passengers that every day use this magnific airport. For the next time, I will allocate even more time to visit the whole airport. I'm sure that there are lots of things that I still didn't see.
When the time came, we boarded our Airbus A380. Boarding with Singapore Airlines is done in a very structured and comfortable way. They allocate probably some more time than other airlines, so there are no queues to board the plane. Today we're flying in Premium Economy class. The cabin is located at the front of the lower deck and offers a really big space. One of the best premium economy classes I've seen to date.
We took off from runway 02L in Singapore and quickly made a left turn, climbing through some nice clouds, to start our 14 hours journey to London. We flew over the Strait of Malacca for about an hour, before entering the Indian Ocean. We flew over it for around 3 hours, heading to India, and we could spot the Nicobar Islands.
We crossed India, entering to the north of Bangalore and exiting to the south on Mumbai, flying in direct course to Oman. Just before reaching it, we made a right turn and headed towards Iran. This was the first time that I flew over Iran during daylight and I must it really surprised me. The desertic landscapes are breathtaking. We crossed all Iran from south to north and then entered Turkey, leaving Azerbaijan in our right. We crossed al Turkey, from east to west, enjoying some amazing views of of the Pontic Mounts, on the northeast of the country.
We then entered the Black Sea over Istanbul and soon reached the area of Burgas, in Bulgaria. From there we flew towards Belgrade, the Balaton Lake in Hungary, Frankfurt, Brussels, the English Channel, and, finally, reached London. We made an amazing approach to rwy 27L, where we landed ahead of the scheduled time of arrival.
Let's talk about the onboard service. There were 2 main services on this flight: a breakfast service and a dinner service. For the breakfast service, I had something similar to an English Breakfast, with sausages, eggs, mushrooms, and tomato sauce. It came also with fresh fruit, a croissant with butter, and raspberry yogurt. The dinner came 5 hours after breakfast. It was beef with mashed potatoes as the main, shrimp salad as a starter, bread, cheese & butter, and a chocolate cake as dessert.
Now it's your turn!
Have you ever flown with Singapore Airlines? Which route? How was the experience? Which model did you fly? Have you ever flown in Premium Economy Class? Do you think is worth the money? Have you ever been in Singapore? Maybe in London? Have you ever flown on the A380?
Lots of things to talk about! Read you all in the comments!

We need more A380’s. without doubt the best aircraft in the sky.
Well, we should enjoy the ones that are flying now... because the production has been finished already for more than 1 year.
@@OnBoardHD I realise that. Nothing wrong with wishful thinking.
Have u already forgotten about the queen of the skies
@@urfavbrownies Have you already forgotten about the King of the skies?
An excellent video, no speeding up, no lingering on food, just great views out of thw windows and around the aircraft! Well done!
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Would love to fly the A380 and also go to Singapore. I'm with you, spend the whole time looking out the window, will never understand those that don't.
Now there are several options to fly on the A380 to Singapore. Singapore Airlines and Qantas do it regularly from London. British Airways does it on peak demand days :)
Changi looks more like a luxury mall than an airport.
True :))
I have never flown on an A380, and now that it's falling out of favour with many airlines, I'm concerned that I never will 😥I just don't have quite enough time or money to take a long haul trip in the near future. Fortunately, for now I can still experience it through great videos like this! Thank you OnBoardHD for sharing your experience and allowing people like me to travel while sitting at home 😄
Man I feel bad for you
I have money to fly but it’s hard for me to get to other places 😢
I flew the 747 to Europe and back on one of the first few a380s. Just the difference in noice levels is astounding. From one of the noisiest jets to the quietest!
The B747-8i is really quiet as well. Both are amazing planes :)
How about A350 vs 777?
The A380 is one aircraft model that others, not even the 747-8, can replace. I actually enjoyed it, though I had only been on two flights with it. More airlines need to have an A380.
I agree. But the problem is that the A380 is just too big for many airlines, which makes it almost impossible to fulfill with passengers at profitable fares.
And you complain about it?!! That’s my fking dream to fly on the A380!
@@aboutplanes who complained about anythin?
I'm saying the reason why the A380 was a failure for Airbus.
The A380 is famous for being so quiet... But at TOGA power in humid weather as in this video, they turn into beasts. Man, this is definitely one of, if not the best A380 (and not only) takeoff sound I've ever heard! The rest of the video is very nice too, and Singapore Airlines's service is great 👍🏼
Yeah! At TOGA with RR engines it roars very nice :D
You would think the Rolls-Royce engines would be quieter, but they're not as quiet as GP7200s
@@gregt8638indeed, they aren't. That's why I like them better than the EA ones
Do you really think the pilots used TOGA mode instead of FLEX Temperature mode during take off.
On A380s, they normally uses FLEX Rated Takeoff to reduce wear and tear. Might have used lower FLEX Rated for higher power on the take off in this video.
Awesome 👌
❤Singapore Airlines A380❤
The A380 is a magnificent bird. And yes, it surprises me constantly when people close the blinds when flying with a clear view over lands they might never visit. Very odd. But it’s nice to watch a movie when there is only ocean or cloud below :)
The A380 is a really amazing plane for long-haul. It feels huge and the big galleys allow for the passengers to be able to stand up for some time and stretch the legs.
@@OnBoardHD Definitely. it’s also nice that the British Airways fit has an economy section on the upper deck with a 2-4-2 layout which means even more space and freedom for those economy passengers lucky enough to be up there.
Another pov as a person who hates flying, I always close the blinds whenever possible because I don't like the idea that I'm in the air. Closing them helps with my anxiety :D
I flew a day flight from LHR to SIN on SQ A380 and once we were up at cruising altitude they made us all close our blinds to let the 'children' of which there were a few in the Business Class cabin to sleep - I wasn't impressed at that as I love a window seat to look out and get a stiff neck doing so!
So excelent to watch . 5 stars 😊
Great to watch I have flown this route a few times now London, Singapore, Brisbane Australia. A380 is a great aircraft.
Thanks!! I'm looking forward to try Qantas... maybe when they will put the A350 on the direct route London-Sidney :)
Once again, it was some mesmerizing views, that perfect engine view seat , food.. what do you need more than this in life, keep vibing, safe travel 🧳
Thanks a lot mate!!
Really glad that you liked it so much :))
Dear onboard hd if you see I no do the video flight because was at some problems in youtube I will try to do video flight in 29 may have a nice flight
Great to see some A380 action, and yes for long haul it's the best plane to fly on! Cheers! Loved the TR as always, keep'em coming!:)
Thanks!!
This week we're going temporarily back to the short-haul :)
I've not flown on a plane for 35+ years, so amazing to see the world in your videos. The last airline I flew with was Monarch, now no longer. Never been further than Greek Islands so interesting to see the landscapes in the East of our world
Thanks a lot, Cathy!
Glad that you like these videos so much!
On next Saturday's video we're flying from Hawaii! :)
@@OnBoardHD wow, something to look forward to then. I'm amazed at all this tbh, it makes me realise what I do have. Think about living in the mountains with no central heating or WiFi, no way!!
Feliz semana! :)
I flew on Singapore Airlines from Singapore to London way back in august 1991,it was back then on a Boeing 747-400 & the flight took 15 hours✈ I forgot to mention that flight was in fact a direct flight, but back in 1986 i was also on a Singapore Airlines flight same type of aircraft but we did stop over in Dubai but it was a whistle stop over of 45minute's.,just enough time to stretch our legs in the transit lounge & we were rushed back onto the plane and off to LHR.
Wow! That's a few years ago already :P
Ditto. And sometimes having to stop in Dubai for 2 hours.
Great video and lovely images of the landscapes. I remember when I was young I used to travel out in the 1960s during the summer school holidays to visit my parents who lived then in colonial Malaya - now Malaysia. We flew on Boeing 707s and it was not non-stop like today. Starting in London, the plane stopped for refuelling at Rome, Athens, Cairo, Karachi, Calcutta, Bangkok and finally Singapore. The longest sector was Cairo - Karachi, just four hours. At each stop, we got off the plane and went into the departure lounge on transit; good for some exercise. I think that it beats today; I could never survive 15 hours in one position today!
Thanks so much!!
haha Wow!! Sounds like a really amazing trip!! I would love to do it that way at least once!! :)
My father worked in The Gold Coast and mum my sister and I joined him for one 18-month tour of duty. It took 10 days to sail out in the early 50s. Our return to UK was on a BOAC 4 prop aircraft 'type?' Took off from Accra, fueled at Tripoli and Rome landed at Heathrow a few months before Queen Elizabeths Coronation. All at the age of 7. I worked in construction and a lot of it abroad, one in Denmark jumping on planes every 3 weeks and having to change from left to right hand drive cars at the airport. All great fun!!!!!
I think this airport looks very nice and colorful in my opinion
it's definitely one of the best in the world in my opinion :)
Amazing aircraft, even admitted by a Boeing lover! I appreciate you taking the effort to put this together to share with everyone. What a stunning view of so much of the world and thank you for notations throughout the experience. I love watching those wings flex as they grab lift on take-off, very cool.
Thanks, James!
Glad that you enjoy these videos so much :)
So much food! 😋 thanks for sharing!
Yeah, the ammount was good. But, being honest, I think they are behing Emirates and Qatar Airways in terms of catering.
Stunning views along the way. I would’ve been looking out of the window the whole time.
Thanks so much! Glad that you've enjoyed it! :)
Excelente video. Muchas gracias.
El aeropuerto me pareció impresionante y si. Lo más sorprendente fue la nieve en Irán, jamás lo hubiera imaginado.
Saludos
Muchas gracias, Fran!
Un placer que te haya gustado! :)
i enjoy watching the view😊,tq
Another informative & entertaining flight ✈️ 😊. Champagne WOW 😮 Have learned a lot about places I didn’t even know existed from your videos. Love watching them. 😊🙋🏼♀️👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks a lot, Sharon :)
Wish you a nice week!
Another beautiful video. I agree with you that the window views of our World are amazing.
You sir are a legend ! thanks for showing distances in kilometers and not miles ! (The entire world doesnt live in the USA )
LOL Glad that you enjoyed it
Nice journey and the airport of Singapore is very incredible .
It's one of the best in the world for sure :)
I love your footage of the scenery on the ground. I’m a nervous flyer and have a fear of heights, so I never get a window seat, so thanks for letting me view this from home!
Glad that you've enjoyed it!! ✈️✈️
The only 380 I’ve been on was some years ago…..SFO to Frankfurt on Lufthansa. Magnificent aircraft. It was the first plane I was on that had cameras for the forward view and a belly view. Going over the barren land in northeastern Canada was amazing.
I love the geography lessons in every video of yours. 😊
Thanks a lot for the feedback!!
That's one good thing about flying. The views are fantastic.
Great video again
I have not started to watch the video and airport looks soo impressive! Good job my friend, you describe almost everything on you way.
Thanks! Glad that you've enjoyed it so much :))
Thank you for posting this. I'm a very nervous flyer and at some point, I'll be flying with SA and your video is helping with my phobia. Many thanks. ;-) P.S. Reading the comments that other people have posted is helping a lot as well. ;-)
Another great video and I especially enjoy your food and beverage reviews as well as seeing the scenery when available...thanks so much....take care and stay safe!!!!!
Thanks a lot mate!!
Glad that you've enjoyed this one!
Did this same route on SQ306, in the same row on premium economy. You get so much extra space sitting by the window on the A380 it’s amazing honestly
Magnificent view of the landscape 👍 have flown Singapore to London many times over the years from
747s to 777s 👍
Thanks a lot for the feedback :))
Awesome trip

Very comprehensive review and thank you for sharing the experience. Keep on sharing your travel around the globe.
I have seen many air plane trip videos. Your ones are the best. Nice quality. Subscribed.
Sitting on a plane watching an a380 take off is amazing it takes all of the runway to get off the ground
Glad that you've enjoyed the video!
Oh today I came early i from Uganda
Hope you've enjoyed the video!
Once again a great video! And what an engine view! Congrats! 😅
Thanks a lot!! :)
Thank You for sharing this lovely informative video. Some of the places/sceneries you captured when flying was amazing and I may not have the opportunity to see them. Thank You again 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot, Bernard!
I'm really glad that you've ennjoyed the Trip Report so much! :)
Love the video
thanks :)
Your Videos Never Go Out Of Style and this one was the best one thank you take care
Thanks a lot!
The style is very rudimentary I would say, I guess that's why they don't get outdated. Maybe because the super simple editing is already outdated hahaha Thanks!!
Me gustan mucho sus videos, me hacen sentir que voy en ese vuelo y las tomas que hace por donde pasa el avion y las explicaciones muy certeras que hace de todo, se ve que esta muy bien informado. Excelente!!
I did the lunchtime SIN-LHR many years ago on the Singapore Airlines A380…best flight ever and so good to not have to sleep and when arrive in uk just go to bed! Also did JFK-FRA & FRA-SIN-ADL, all on Singapore Airlines…best airline I’ve been on.
Yeah, these flights are perfect for jetlag.
By just sleeping a couple of hours onboard you arrive perfectly adjusted for the new time zone :)
Hiya. Fantastic video awsome footage of the landscapes. Thankyou for your time and efforts John. Hope to be on this flight in 24.
Thanks!! Glad that you've enjoyed it so much!!
Welcome back Sir .. absolutely another spectacular beautiful filming captured .. gorgeous view and you nailed it again and I really appreciate and enjoy watching your trip report adventure, keep it up Sir .. and have a safe trip .. tqvm
Thank you!! ✈️😎
I did this in April last year. Quite comfy experience sitting on 71A
Great take off footage! Thanks for posting!

What an awesome airport
Singapore airport looks amazing!! Really loking forward to visit it again! :))
One of the best flight journey video i have ever seen👌👌👌Great🎉🎉Hats off👍👍
Thanks so much!! :))
Wonderful 🎉
Excellent video. So detailed….loved it! We did the day time SIN-LHR on the A380 (SIA of course) and it was the best flight we’ve ever been on; no trying to sleep etc and like you, get to look at all the scenery. And we weren’t jet lagged too which was a bonus. We’ve also done JFK-FRA and FRA-SIN, again on SIA A380. Best airline I’ve ever flown. Service etc is second to none.
Thanks so much! I was really lucky to not have clouds on the most relevant parts of the trip. I really enjoyed the views while making this video.
Glad that you liked it! :)
Great video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@OnBoardHD how about to visit Almaty somehow with Air Astana, that would be really cool!❤
For now I don't have it on the plans. Let's see in the future! :))
What a great video.. so informative… I learnt so many things of the countries you flew over.. thank you and I will definitely be subscribing and watching more of your terrific videos
Thanks a lot!! Glad that you've enojyed it!
And thanks for the feedback!

Wow this video is very educational ,its a tenth time watching this video...I like what you just said about people not opening the windows ,they don't care about nature and their travel .I'm sure they don't know where they are ...
Thanks mate!
Really glad that you like these videos so much! :))
Great vidéo like all the others 🙂😃👍. Thanks a lot !!!
Thanks a lot! Glad you like them so much :))
great views
Thanks :))
Excellent video and thank you for the Spanish lesson.
haha thanks :))
Another long haul, never gets boring. 😄 What do you prefer, long haul or short haul?🤔
They usually offer better content for a trip report :)
Nice 380 n I have friend she works for Singapore airlines n she's a in flight manager she's sweet indeed
The background tune is superb. Love it . Great work.. 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the feedback :)
The times that I have traveled by plane, I have always liked the window seat, I love to observe the panorama from top to bottom, see the geographical shapes of some visible areas and that would be the ideal of a plane trip. Years ago, in my youth, I was studying Geography at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá and I have always had an exquisite taste for it (Geography). Someday, God willing, I will fly to those parts of the world and appreciate such beautiful landscapes, something that very few do, that is why there are so many ignorant people who do not know anything, only the place where they go from work to home and vice versa, lmao terrible!
Glad that you've enjoyed this Trip Report, Alfred :)
For obvious reasons I'm always lloking outside the window on planes. But I'm sure I would be doing exactly the same even if I wouldn't be doing these videos. You can always learn new things :)
Mt Damavand looked beautiful from a distance.
Very enjoyable video. I share your enthusiasm for the magnificent aerial views we get when flying. Thanks for the great content!
I've flown SQ308 many time albeit on the 747-400 and not the A380. Yor words about Changi airport are true and it is, in my opinion, is the best there is. There used to be an outdoors smoking area in one of the terminal which was overlooking the apron and you could see all the planes landing and taking off. Thank goodness I've given up smoking!
SQ as an airline are still the one to beat - yes Emirates or Qatar ar good but I would always use SQ if possible. The stewardesses in that beautiful uniform (that hasn't needed to be restyled in over 25 years) also take some beating.
The flight has taken various different routes over the years but seeing the whole of Bombay by night or seeing the who Bosphorous and Istanbul was incredible.
Thanks for flying this route, it brings back a lot of happy memories of my trips to Australia and New Zealand as well as Singapore city itself which is well worth a few day's visit.
Aff! It would have been amazing to fly on the B747 to Singapore... Now the only option is Lufthansa. I guess I'll do it at some point :)
Estás haciendo vuelos súper interesantes últimamente... me encanta las rutas que estás escogiendo de largo radio, ojalá podamos ver pronto alguna hacia Latinoamérica también :) Cómo suenan esos RR! Muy diferente a lo que estoy acostumbrado! Un abrazo 😉
Muchas gracias! Un placer que te estén gustando tanto estos vídeos! :))
Espero poder grabar algo a Latinoamérica muy pronto! Este fin de semana volvemos de forma temporal al corto radio en el canal :)
@@OnBoardHD a seguir volando!!
Wish I could ride A380 also, just B777 and A320 during my time in KSA...
You are great @Onboard HD, in every trip is wd complete details on your journey ❤ it!!!
Thanks so much!! Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a great flight for you
As for changi airport I transitted through it
I was very impressed how clean n how there were so many people to help you with anything you wanted to know
But I know it’s bad but I was told where the smoking area was n it was great as I could watch planes taking off n landing n planes being pushed back to start their flights
Was great 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I love this video and like when I saw airplane Latam from Brasil 🇧🇷 in London airport, I will follow from Brasil 🇧🇷
Very well made video.
Thanks :)
Muy hermoso el video por las vistas que se aprecian , el aeropuerto es magnifico, nunca pude volar en el A-380 debe ser magnifico , y la atencion y catering muy bueno , felicitaciones !!! Saludos y buen fin de semana !
