'Pretty lucky' | Coast Guard rescues divers stranded in Gulf for 36 hours

The search started when Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders were alerted that 2 divers were last seen surfacing in unfavorable weather conditions 15 miles offshore.

These storms were no surprise. Going offshore in these weather conditions should be avoided. Thankfully their poor judgment didn't cost them their lives

They were wreck diving and wearing scuba gear - buoyancy compensators which regulate your depth in the water and also to float on the surface. Without their BCs they would have drowned.
