I didn't really like the original sticker shows Kano and Raiden grabbing the kids that's cool but it's not very Kosher for what it is. It's just not as good as yours that's all, thank you 🙏🏻☯️🐲

What an amazing remaster! And just goes to show what can be done on the Mega Drive when more time and dedication is implemented. It's just a shame they couldn't put the player names inside the health bars like the arcade version. Other than that, it is awesome.
Didn’t need it, I think it craps performance something about sprites overlaying sported and colors and all that Layering, memory I don’t even know 🤷🏾♂️ Sega should have just had an additional 32kbt of ram instead of 64kbt And had more sound ram than a measly 8kbt . At least 16 kbt jeezus sega damn !
I really can't understand this fixation people has on having life bar like the Arcade, it's the most unecessary and irrelevant detail possible. Plus, it's the arcade name placement the best one? I think it's worse, since it's a little more difficult to see the level of damage your bar actually is.
@@RetroGamerBoy 100% Probe got the gameplay right but the graphics and the sound were a massive downgrade from the Arcade version. Although I do like the unique Music that the Mega Drive version got.
Awesome! Just downloaded the ROM and playing it on my Everdrive. It's definitely a noticeable improvement. A good example of what game developers could've done with the Genesis hardware if given sufficient time and resources instead of being rushed.
I believe they could have done better with their trash developers at probe .if they wasn’t being cheap off the rip and used a bigger cart. Street fighter 2 chmp Ed before them used a whopping 24meg cart. What made them feel a game with digitized characters and animations didn’t need the same size cart or bigger.!! What a miraculously dumb decision. That alone would have helped their sorry team of devs and called up to sega for help because they did the same crud work for mk2.
@@48hourrecordsteam45 Probe was a competent studio. I doubt a programmer has much control over the investment in production though. If you have ever bid a contract then you would understand that the cost of doing business is usually the biggest priority because it's about making money, which they did. It's not fair to crap on them unless you have evidence that it was solely their decision to handicap the ROM size.

Fantastic work on the cover, manual, and sticker! I always loved the 70's kung-fu movie atmosphere of the original Mortal Kombat arcade game. I'm glad someone had the motivation to improve the mega drive port.

I feel like the updated details and remaster effects were subtle but also really noticeable, more so for a fan of MK on MD and arcade. I grew up more so on the MD game but played MK2 in the arcade more as I didn’t own it on MD. Your box design was great, I love the amount of effort you put into it.

Совет на будущее - что бы не вставлять скобы в брошюру вручную можно использовать два степлера, оба полностью раскладываются от первого используется механизм со скобами, а от второго соответственно ответная сторона с металлической пластинкой. Можно тоже самое сделать и одним степлером, если его разобрать на две части, в обоих случаях главное чётко попасть скобой в разы на ответной пластинке, сам так делал не один раз.
Wow...this, i could not imagine EVER being possible! As an old-time arcade Mortal Kombat expert - i take the hat off for this one. This is beyond impressive! As lackluster as the Megadrive version of MK was for me back in the 90's (so i quickly got rid of it, and kept going to the arcades), i am ultra-curious to check this one out. Obviously, i'll not trade it for the arcade version, but to vindicate Megadrive and conclude the MK circle on a winning note for this system, is a must. Let the Mortal Kombat begin!

The beauty about it is that it makes as few reductions as possible, - as opposed to "let's take the vaguely alleged basics and scrap everything else" type of 1990's Sega modus operandi. Conversely, this here is an example of far more intelligent and way more demanding approach to a console port design. Deserves a standing ovation, no less. I wish this was there back in 1993. But, it is an honorable finale to the story, by all means. I was glad to witness this take place.
Very glad you made this video! I somehow hadn't heard of this and was able to jump over and grab what according to the site was the second-to-last physical copy of the game.
Imagine them touching mk2 1.fixing those damn terrible ugly color tones Blood & flesh is Maroon 🤦🏾♂️ Seem like every color in mk2 genesis is a dark version of what it’a supposed to be . Whites are tan or grey , tans are brown Silvers are grey Reds are burgundy or maroon/cranberry Everything that supposed to be light blue or sky blue is navy blue . Violets are purple it goes on and on And there is no color blending or tone blending … like where light green blends from tone to tone until it get into a dark green . It’s just crude simple one side dark the other side light . 🤦🏾♂️ 2.and reworking this terrible sfx & missing voice announcements All the names And the grunts are these crude sounding samples make you wonder where they hell they get those stupid grunts from because it definitely wasn’t the arcade . And they have the audacity to use those grunts for fatalities 🤦🏾♂️.

Greatly appreciated but the side-by-side visuals and then back-to-back audio examples really showed off the differences. Your custom work looks incredible as per usual; that sleeve looks amazing. Extra touch with the manual was well done too. Appreciate the multi-comparisons too to see it all across the board.

Boy the SNES sure looked good. A little more responsive gameplay, blood, the opening Goro screen & just a couple more sound effects would've pulled it about even with the arcade , even without Sub-Zero & Kano's fatalities. At least Sub-Zero's alternate fatality was pretty darn good & involved his freezing ability. Would've been cool to see a 24-meg cart instead of the 16-meg one we got, same with the Genesis version, just like MK2 should've used 32 meg carts instead of 24. The improvements in quantity & quality would've easily sold people on paying a little more

The only thing I don't like is that some backgrounds are mirrored in and the multi parallax is lost... But then again I shouldn't complain, I don't even know how to program / modify a game... Still amazing work!!!
😅 Technically they have done a great job. It is challenging with the hardware limitations. Saying that though the team seem to be continuing with development, so maybe they may resolve this.

The repro you created looks good but I have to nitpick and say that if it came out back in the day it would look like the original, with the G1 MD logo. Of course also the multi-language would be included.
I toyed with that idea but as this remaster was done after Ultimate MK3 I went with the blue spine designs. I also opted to not add other langaues in favour of a more graphical font. For my custom SoR4 clam shell I had the langaues added.
I’d still stick with the arcade version since I don’t own a Genesis anymore and play everything through emulation or on the Switch - but if I still had my Genesis I’d be all over this! Great job with the box and manual reworks, love the design.
This is amazing work. Though Mame is perfect....wish there was a disc version of that which was pressed on shiny disc. Also what is up with Shang Tsung clapping in courtyard. Clapping in front of subordinates weakens him and takes away from his omnipresent clapping in throne room.
Mike, I got a question for ya When master linkuei released it I commented to him, the best Christmas gift I've gotten from a stranger. I didn't know there were different revisions. How is v1.2 better than the original v1.0?
From the release notes that I got from the company who sold me the physical version it's mainly graphical tweaks. Some small colour improvements, some of the characters like subzero have had a better work over.
Or only someone would get the sound drivers and we can start taking the rearranged soundtracks that people have been making and implement it into this version

This is the version that should have released originally. Had Mortal Kombat released like this in 1993 like it should it would have sold like a wildfire doused in racing fuel. The original sold like crazy but I'm convinced this would have been on a completely different level. Even if it needed extra development time and released on the same day as the Sega CD port it would have been worth it. Can you imagine what a Sega CD port of this would be like if this was the version that we got? I believe with the extra resources inside the Sega CD it would have been so close to the arcades it would have moved the add-on like nobodies business. It could have been the killer app the add-on needed to go big which in turn drops the price in time for an arcade close MK2. Question- How does the Mortal Kombat Remaster look against the arcade version? I know it's good but unless I see a side-by-side I can't know how good it really is. Also how does it compare to the Snes port? I'm guessing very favorably.
It’s still missing a lot of frames of animation. Next revision they could pick up those assets from the Sega CD version. It’s a great update but I still find the Sega CD version slightly better.
The amount of hours or even years I spent playing this when it came out, And knowing it could of been a lot closer to the arcade version pisses me off to be honest. I always thought it was a hardware limitation, not lazy programming
I don't think it was lazy programming, it more likely they did not have the time to make the game the best it could be. It was all about profit margins, less Dev time, more profit.

There are some levels where you really notice the difference, and the timing improvements are great, especially when compared to the source material.

Blood & flesh is Maroon 🤦🏾♂️
Seem like every color in mk2 genesis is a dark version of what it’a supposed to be .
Whites are tan or grey , tans are brown
Silvers are grey
Reds are burgundy or maroon/cranberry
Everything that supposed to be light blue or sky blue is navy blue .
Violets are purple it goes on and on
And there is no color blending or tone blending … like where light green blends from tone to tone until it get into a dark green .
It’s just crude simple one side dark the other side light . 🤦🏾♂️
2.and reworking this terrible sfx & missing voice announcements

And the grunts are these crude sounding samples make you wonder where they hell they get those stupid grunts from because it definitely wasn’t the arcade .
And they have the audacity to use those grunts for fatalities 🤦🏾♂️.

Fantastic work on the comparisons too. Greatly appreciated but the side-by-side visuals and then back-to-back audio examples really showed off the differences.

Boy the SNES sure looked good. A little more responsive gameplay, blood, the opening Goro screen & just a couple more sound effects would've pulled it about even with the arcade , even without Sub-Zero & Kano's fatalities. At least Sub-Zero's alternate fatality was pretty darn good & involved his freezing ability. Would've been cool to see a 24-meg cart instead of the 16-meg one we got, same with the Genesis version, just like MK2 should've used 32 meg carts instead of 24. The improvements in quantity & quality would've easily sold people on paying a little more
It was all about the bottom line, it still is to be honest 😁👍

Oh I'm not sure. I just ordered the first thing I saw. I was not too bothered if it came with the Bax as I was going to make my own version.
The only thing I don't like is that some backgrounds are mirrored in and the multi parallax is lost...
But then again I shouldn't complain, I don't even know how to program / modify a game...

😅 Technically they have done a great job. It is challenging with the hardware limitations. Saying that though the team seem to be continuing with development, so maybe they may resolve this.

I really wish they'd of added the missing "stand still an"imation. They could have gotten the missing frames of animation from the SEGA CD version.

It's stunning, imagine seeing this when it originally came out.
The repro you created looks good but I have to nitpick and say that if it came out back in the day it would look like the original, with the G1 MD logo. Of course also the multi-language would be included.
I toyed with that idea but as this remaster was done after Ultimate MK3 I went with the blue spine designs. I also opted to not add other langaues in favour of a more graphical font. For my custom SoR4 clam shell I had the langaues added.

I’d still stick with the arcade version since I don’t own a Genesis anymore and play everything through emulation or on the Switch - but if I still had my Genesis I’d be all over this! Great job with the box and manual reworks, love the design.
The Switch has become my go-to console for play retro outside of my physical collection. Awesome console.
This is amazing work. Though Mame is perfect....wish there was a disc version of that which was pressed on shiny disc. Also what is up with Shang Tsung clapping in courtyard. Clapping in front of subordinates weakens him and takes away from his omnipresent clapping in throne room.
Maybe they could have it as the cut neck animation 😅

When master linkuei released it I commented to him, the best Christmas gift I've gotten from a stranger. I didn't know there were different revisions. How is v1.2 better than the original v1.0?
From the release notes that I got from the company who sold me the physical version it's mainly graphical tweaks. Some small colour improvements, some of the characters like subzero have had a better work over.
It’s essentially the SNES version with blood ( but still not quite as good looking ).
I guess if you don't have a SNES but and MD then it's the next best option.
Or only someone would get the sound drivers and we can start taking the rearranged soundtracks that people have been making and implement it into this version

This is the version that should have released originally. Had Mortal Kombat released like this in 1993 like it should it would have sold like a wildfire doused in racing fuel. The original sold like crazy but I'm convinced this would have been on a completely different level. Even if it needed extra development time and released on the same day as the Sega CD port it would have been worth it. Can you imagine what a Sega CD port of this would be like if this was the version that we got? I believe with the extra resources inside the Sega CD it would have been so close to the arcades it would have moved the add-on like nobodies business. It could have been the killer app the add-on needed to go big which in turn drops the price in time for an arcade close MK2.
Question- How does the Mortal Kombat Remaster look against the arcade version? I know it's good but unless I see a side-by-side I can't know how good it really is. Also how does it compare to the Snes port? I'm guessing very favorably.

It’s still missing a lot of frames of animation. Next revision they could pick up those assets from the Sega CD version. It’s a great update but I still find the Sega CD version slightly better.
I think they are continuing to develop it.

Yup. When I was running a 2K studio our recruitment team passed these out. They gave me one for fun and Ive worn it ever since.
The amount of hours or even years I spent playing this when it came out, And knowing it could of been a lot closer to the arcade version pisses me off to be honest.

I don't think it was lazy programming, it more likely they did not have the time to make the game the best it could be. It was all about profit margins, less Dev time, more profit.

I don't think so, there are actual companies, especially in NA, that create custom carts.

The arcade version always mops the floor to every version of Mortal Kombat.
The original will always be the best cause that was what it was originally suppose to be, an arcade game. No home versions will ever take that away.
