Love all your work!! I’m working on a ton of custom painted sports card frames with different designs and colors to match the color of card. These vids help me to stay inspired! 🙏🏼 I had a question about marketing and sales techniques. What did you do starting out and is there anything you wish you knew earlier on in your journey? Anything would help. I’m thinking Etsy and Facebook market place to start?
Great idea! I started out painting and airbrushing motorcycles. When I started with tumblers I had some previous clients each bring me their whole Christmas list to make his gifts - a one-stop-shop for their entire Christmas list. One thing would be to not wait until people come to you with requests like this, but rather YOU think of creative ways to market to people, friends, family in which you solve a problem for them (i.e. picking out and buying gifts for people can be really hard, challenging, and frustrating). Always be studying whatever it is that you are looking at and why it is appealing to you, and how can you incorporate that into what you do. You may reach out to 100 and only get 5, but knock those 5 out and keep going!
The tumblers you make are awesome 👌 your videos and the way you talk just show how invested you are in helping others achieve a design that could be normally out of their comfort zone...your videos are informative, entertaining and so very helpful please don't ever change..your awesome 👌
I did a similar technique but used cardstock and created full lines of scales. I wanted the texture that the cardstock offers but didn't want to glue the scales on one by one. I haven't epoxied it yet but so far it looks freaking awesome!
What a great shortcut! Thank you for sharing this time saving technique. The tumbler turned out fantastic. I'm heading over to your website to buy the templates. God bless you and your family, Taylor.
As you were swinging it I was yelling in my head, Nooooooo! LoL It worked in the medieval times and Walking Dead times, and apparently in 2021 as well... 😉
Awesome brother. Love the colors. Yes, those are small containers but very little goes a long way when mixing in resin specially when applying on black background. Good job
You are wayyyy to funny. I love this idea it's so much easier than the other. I don't have the patients for the repetition of each scale. 😊 Can't wait to try.
That is absolutely amazing!!!!! I have wanted to do a dragon scale too but no way I was putting it on one scale at a time. Can't wait to try it!!! ... have a told you lately that I love you!!! 😅🤣
I knew there had to be an easier way to get this look. Leave it to Taylor to let us in on the secret! LOL. Beautiful tumbler, man. Thanks for sharing. 💜 Now share the secret on how to deal with the humid weather that’s giving everyone fits with pits in our epoxy. 🤦🏼♀️😂
my condolences to you and your family for the loss of your beloved Rustoleum Etching Primer. May your hearts heal quickly so you can make more awesome videos like this one soon...minus the snafu with the ghetto Lucille.
Funny I ordered some of the color shift micas too and when I got it was like what the!? How is that so small!? Lol I’m glad it goes far, I did learn that with a brush it goes really far( I use a fluffy make up brush) beautiful tumbler and your right so simple! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! Another one to add to my list of techniques to try!
OMGoooodness that is absotootley Fantabulous 🐉so wanted to do one of these but the thought of those scales “one by one” NOPE🤯thank you for the perfect “dragon scale hack”🙌🏻🐉🎉‼️
You can also get chameleon micro flake, powder, paint, etc from sherwin Williams auto pain division or I'm sure hobby paint shops. But maybe cheaper via volumn since it's for automotive. I had my Camaro stock red sprayed over with the chameleon micro flake before it came out for the public and it was awesome. Now that was like 20+ years ago, lol.
Oh my gosh! Was that Johnny Depp at 5:16? Tooo funny! Excellent video sir! Your channel is so fun to watch! Edit: Those color shift pigments are PERFECT! Love them!
This is awesome I love it very nice colors but not my style ive done work on my tumbler with what i wanted on the front but wanting to put something on the back I just don't know what
This is NO JOKE - Ive done scales before and they take FOREVER. I tried this last night at it was done in a snap. Duncan you're BRILLIANT I made a beautiful Snakeskin with green powder. When I Spray sealed my powders it did saturate them They changed from a soft green to an metalic emerald. I'm not bad about it...it looks amazing but I'm curious why this happened to me and not to you?
That's awesome, I would love to see it - tag me if you post it on Instagram. As far as the color change, could be beacuse of different brand micas, or maybe sprayed too heavy as opposed to 2 or 3 light coats
RIP Poor Primer - it was such a beautiful can. Made wonderful things and spread happiness and joy..... Ok enough crying.... I love this tumbler very much. Chameleon powders are hard for me to find as well in quantity that is - I love your tumble base stand! I NEEEED one.... XOXO TAY

I love this! I’ve been wanting to make a dragon tumbler for my nephew(school mascot) but the placing each scale one at a time has stopped me. I just bought Eye Candy Pearls mica powder off Amazon for an alligator scale tumbler. 50g jar for $15.99. They have tons of colors to choose from.
Oh man that will be so much easier! Check out Rust-Oleum Imagine Color Shift spray paint. There's a gorgeous turquoise color shift one that gives this effect. (But takes away from the satisfying rubby rub on the cup.)
I did a tumbler and there is a little tiny place on it that didn't get any epoxy and you can see down to the spray paint. Do I have to strip it or can I just put another coat on to cover that spot up? I sure hope it's possible because I hate the thought of stripping it. I'm a newbie to all this and want to make sure I do things right.
Hahahaha I forgot to attach the scales together in design space so it printed to sheets of giant scales and i was looking at them cross eyed going how do i put this together. I love the design, thank you!😁

You are wayyyy to funny. I love this idea it's so much easier than the other. I don't have the patients for the repetition of each scale. 😊 Can't wait to try.
And I was one of those who made a video of a dragon scale cup by laying each scale one by one lol this is sooooo much easier badass!💯
Thanks!👍💥👊 You have good patience

I have not. You mean like a full fabric wrap?
I also vote on a fabric wrap!

cool
Great video.
Where do u get your steel from?
We need a mermaid scale version!
I have been thinking on that...I know a mermaid
Ooo...pretty!!
This was for my mom's birthday
Super groovy dragon!
🐲✌
Love the Mica's--Hogg changed their 20 oz skinny to a straight instead of a taper....is your pattern adjusted for that?
hmmm, I'll have to ordee some and see...even if it isnt, it could still be made to work
Did you allow the spray paint to dry before adding the mica powder?
yeah

Trial & error. I designed it in Adobe Illustrator. It is a direct upload to Cricut - no modifying needed
