Nobody gonna question how he has no videos but 12k subs?
All the people who are trying it in 2019, you could simply import the file, select it and go to effects>Vocal reduction and isolation>drop down>remove vocals
Perfect!
thank you for saving my life o>o
It makes it sound like its underwater
Suyash where can I download the software?
@@stxrstruck1561 did you find any alternative to that? for me it sounded the same
I came here for a tutorial and ended up enjoying the accent.

Do it the other way around! How to Isolate Vocals Using Audacity: ua-cam.com/video/s2StlHv-D8E/v-deo.html
For some reason, I can't change the channels to Mono
If you have the new Audacity just go in Effects and click Vocal Remover way at the bottom - you don't need to do the split tracks mono thing, etc. Also, I think now Audacity does the split track in one step - click Split Track to Mono - if you want to try to do it the way in the video. That's what I did and then followed the rest of his instructions and it worked.
Yes Its true
there is no option of mono
Mike Russell Please can you help me to remove vocal on song. Massege me on Facebook @Ju Wane Bulavakarua
Can you please help me?! I have an audio bit its full of voiceovers and like many other sound effects and I want to take away the voiceovers. I did evrything and you can still listen everything. Also I dont have mono.
Watch a new updated video showing how to remove vocals from a song using Audacity. This method is even faster and easier! ua-cam.com/video/KE6waMXii2U/v-deo.html
+Mike Russell I trying pick the music "Tom and Angela - Stand By Me" and i remove the vocals. But, the left i have down the bass. And still have a vocal. So, how to remove it...!
Hi I am trying to remove vocals from a song, but I can't even load the song on to audacity. It keeps coming up with this message- Wavepad could not open this file for editing. Its an mp3 could this have any effect?
Would you take a request to upload a song with the lyrics taken out
I tried to remove vocals from a song using this method but some of the vocals still remained even after this process, is there something else that you could recommend?
Hi idol please na remove the vacol voice. In this song... "AKO. MUNA BY LANCE.. im filipino... Thank you
You had the audacity to do something like this
I was trying to remove that weird looking line for 5 damn minutes till I realized it's actually a profile picture. Damn you.
lmfao same dude. wtf.
same though
lmaooooo thought it was just me
Omg i was tying to remove ur profile pic thinking its hair😂😂
For those people who are using newer version of audacity:-
1)Split stereo track to mono.
2)Apply "Invert" to the bottom track.
3)As your track is already in mono, you can simply go to "Tracks" menu and select "Mix and Render" that way you will get the same result.
it didnt work :(
doesn't work as bulshit
It won’t play;;
worked for me, cheers!
me too, didn't work
I tried to remove vocals, I removed the instrumentals.. GG xD
me too
This video may help - ua-cam.com/video/Dt18fkRq8pc/v-deo.html
Exactly why I scroll through the comments before I do it
Tigro Kanalas how do u do that bruh I’m tryna do it on phone

That was incredibly helpful and informational. Thank you for explaining why it works, as well, instead of just giving us the step by step.
Love how you were nodding your head to the jingle. And yeah it's a good one. Great tip, thanks. I'm a beginner DJ and working on promos and karaokes, learning Audacity. Great tips to get me started.
This saved me when removing my voice out of a game recording i was doing when the computer recorded my voice and game volume in the same audio track thank you
It worked for me! With the tip he gives at the end, using the equalizer, it really helps preserve some of the quality.
Thank you for the video!
I don't see "mono" after I've split the tracks.
Go to effects > Vocal reduction and isolation > remove vocals: to mono > done! Worked for me at least
@@vincentkoster6291 I can't find vocal reduction and isolation option
@@gurshabadchawla4439 Same prblem me.
@@vincentkoster6291 it said that only works with stereo tracks men. how to fix this?
@@gurshabadchawla4439 Keep gojng down, there is narrow down when you click the effect bar and click that narrow until the last part, you would find voice reduction. Sorry for my bad english
It actually works! I tried it with one of my favorite Korean songs, and it works really well!
Brilliant! It works! I am using a newer version of Audacity than Mike uses in the video so it took a bit to adjust, but...it works!!!
Ya mine came out distorted like it's from 1952
LOL
I actually thought the fly in your avatar was dirt so I tried to rub it off.. xD
thats a spider..
it was a fly but i changed it to a spider a few days ago, gotta keep em off their feet
Nice try but I've seen that like 4 years ago.
Besides, you can just scroll your screen to check if it's on screen or on the monitor. :3
mine it's not working. I still can hear vocal voice. help please
+Fletchers Flesh Why are you calling me a bitch? you dont even know me. I didnt ask for
your help. I ask for people who are willing for help. so if you think
that you are not going to help me. rather just no respond to my comment
instead of insulting me. may God forgive you.
+Fletchers Flesh Wow you're probably 39 and virgin
+Jesus Christ Servants Do you hear the vocals loudly?
yes mozes but I already figure out how to fix it. thanks a lot for asking.
How did you do lol I had the same problem
Now that's the best tutorial by far for Audacity out of many, lol!
I don't get option to make it mono
Miguel Cervantes SAME why its not have mono option :(
I just created two new mono tracks (to do this go to the tracks menu) and then copy and pasted the audio into them. Not as easy as just clicking a button but it works
Miguel Cervantes Same!
Miguel Cervantes me too
maybe if you click the "split stereo to mono" option, then do all of the steps he said, it'll work? it hasn't worked for me yet, but maybe it will for you?
you don't beat around the bush. You get straight to the point and do so comprehensibly. Awesome. Thanks.
This removes MOST of the vocals but there are still back vocals that exists :')) Better than nothing tho, lol
Yup
Yeahh
As others have commented the options have changed slightly in newer versions of audacity. I don't fully understand the principles behind these edits, but i believe I have duplicated the effect in this video by choosing Split stereo track to mono, in place of split stereo track. Once the tracks are split and mono, inverting the bottom track created a similar effect to the one displayed here in the video. As others have said, in different music (hip hop for example) the additional distortion was far beyond my ability to fix or compensate for.
I'm here now and this really help. Thank you so much for putting this out here and thanks to Mike as well, you guys just saved a life ❤
it kind of works, the parts with reverb do not fade, but usable non the less, thank you :)
This all depends on how the song was mixed down, how heavily saturated with effects the vocals are. If there's a lot of reverb it will leave the tails behind. If your vocals are over compressed it won't completely remove them as it only removes the center channel along with drum kicks etc you CAN NOT completely remove vocals from every song.
Only if you're an expert sound engineer or mixer
I always wanted to do this!
+Lunaverse awesome!
it did not work, it makes the song more buggy with still vocals
Audacity is free so you get crap in return.
awesome, thanks for this useful video. after doing that, what would be the recommended way to export it to an audio file?
This is very helpful...thank u
Its nice yes, but you need a really good version on the song. Dowloading a song from youtube and trying this does NOT work xD
I also lost the high hats off the song? I got the base back, but no high hats? Can I get that back?
Stop it, u grammer nazis
i made the high cut on remove vocals higher than the frequency of the vocals. just test around and you will find the correct frequency to have the hi hat because hi hat frequency is higher than that of the human voice
*grammar. And you asked for it :P
*"*Grammar - and you asked for it."
xD
Thank you so much!!!! really needed this now...
Great tutorial! I like that you explained why that worked. That way i can remember stuff much better
Thanks Luztastic. Glad it helped
If you're having problem about having no, "make audio to mono" option. Before splitting the track, it has a, "Split track to mono" option. You're welcome.
doesnt do anything
This is brilliant! Thank you!
+Zizibs Fansings you're welcome :)

Brilliant, thanks for posting this. Worked perfectly!
Great to hear!
thank you it works, it makes the vocal lesser but it still there, happy and thank you again :)
2019 version of aducity no longer has the just mono button it only has the split track into mono and it does not work to remove voices from the tracks. only changes the track from stereo tone to mono tone with voices
You have the audacity to remove the vocals? wow
I see what you did right there

How do u not have more subs, ur the only helpful person I've found that does this in audacity
hai.. can we saperate instrumental tracks from song in audacity
eg: drums track ,guitar track ,flute track
Idunno if we can remove STEMS-like bus of individual tracks, but maybe a more professional producer can 😅
That was awesome. Thanks. Works in any sound program thanks to your explanation rather than just following steps. Cheers
😄
Fantastic! It works. I have been trying for the last 2 weeks and finally the solution was provided by you. I also tried other software, but the vocals were not removed 100%. Thanks a lot!!
Glad to have helped
Did nothing for me. Vocals are still 100% present, only the audio quality turned into the 60's....
exact same thing for me

For those who don't see the "mono" option, simply drag the slider under the "Mute" and "Solo" buttons that has the "L" and the "R" on your track to the center.

I tried this in this case the song voice has been suppressed somewhat but your method works👍👍
👍
It didn't worked perfectly, but the additional tip how to preserve the bass made it better. Other old tutorials never mentioned this.
So this tutorial is pretty helpful. Thanks!
I did that and the whole track just got muted.
Use 320 kbps mp3 or 192 kbps AAC/FLAC ??
Tomas Corvidea make sure you don't re-stereo the tracks. Keep both mono, unless it just so happens that you happened to be working on a pseudo-stereo track, which essentially means that it's two mono tracks made into a stereo track with minor changes to one of the channels. A pseudo-stereo track will not work using this method.
Pseudo-stereo means that it's a mono track that's been duplicated and converted to stereo
It doesn't work
+nixter417 Nor mine it doesn't work
+nixter417 same
+nixter417 It doesn't work for me either.
it's sounds like... like... shit -_-
ah! i hate audacity
Im gonna try it too.. Hope it works.. Thank you so much 😊🙏
For some reason after I don't have the option to select mono when i click on that triangle menu that he shows.... HELP?
it doesnt work. i followed step by step, the vocals are loud and clear.
try moving the equalizer bar thingy around to different spots
it only works if the vocals are mono (the same in both left and right channels)
Not getting mono option
Audacity apps is a great tool. I have been using it for many purposes, but this topic sounds new for me. Thanks for sharing this amazing video, Mike. You are very kindly.
👍
Awesome! It works perfectly
You use it on a simple jingle to make it LOOK EASY Audacity can kiss my ass! Do a video and remove the rap vocals from the beat to create an acapella, the freaking audacity of some people!
Abuse Of Power the freaking.....audacity....
When I convert both to Mono, I get NO sound. And I checked, it definitely uploaded as a stereo track. What gives?
Faintest Of Breath maybe the intrumentals were mono instead of too, which would mean, they have cancelled each other out.
tks for your free tutorial . it help me a lot
It worked very well! Thanks a bunch
😀
Did you film a video and not talk? Then record you're voice over it?
this is taking my music out but leaving the vocals in wtf
You are unlucky :v But i can't do it
holey, that was well demonstrated...gotta try this out...cheers
your tutorials are really helpful, thanks for sharing them!
Thank you
Bro I not get mono option in my software. Plz reply me
just pan center on both tracks
what does that mean?
Head over to Tracks, then head over to Pan, and pick Center. Though it sounded bad in my case. Hope you're luckier. :D
mono is not there
I gotta subscribe this channel. Man thank you so much this video helped me a lot!!
I used his method and finally got it to work. THEN I realized that Audacity now includes a vocal removal/isolation plug in within the interface. It is the in the Effects drop down and works great. Just one click!
You didn´t realy pinpoint on HOW much it depends on how it´s recorded. Try vocal recorded with MS!
is it illegal to put away the voice and then use it in your videos?
Yes, it's still copyright infringement, even he instrumental is their intellectual property.
No its not, alot of songs use samples, it would only be infringing if the song its self was original and did not use 3rd party samples.
ÐΣαÐ Σço Damnation artists need permission to use samples, and with samples they are taking a base theme and expanding it, not just using the instrumental version.
Alan Naranjo the instrumental version is not a new track, the original artist made the instrumental version before lyrics were added, so the instrumental version had to be made by the artist, thus the instrumental version is still their property.
Alan Naranjo tbh im not entirely sure anymore either, its been years since i took a copyright class, so the laws could have changed, that combined with youtubes need to either not pay attention to copyright infringement, or knee jerk people who arent infringing at all makes for a confusing situation, so maybe the best bet is to try and see what happens.
Thank you, Mike, for an excellent tutorial.
Say I have a recording of counting from zero to hundred without breaks (or with very short breaks) between the numbers and I would like to make from it a file which would teach somebody how to count from zero to hundred. I would insert between each number a slot of silence which would be of the same length as the recording of respective number.
I would do it by selecting zero, generating the silence in its duration by cmd+L, copying that slot of silence (cmd+c), undoing the zero (cmd+z), moving the cursor to the right end of the zero selection by the right arrow, pasting the silence (cmd+v) and moving the cursor to the right end of the silence by the right arrow. Then, repeat the same 100x.
Is there a faster and simpler way to do such a recording?
Good explanation. thanks
There is no the option "mono'' in my case

Use version 2.1.0
Instead of splitting, u have the option to "split stereo to mono” which is just one less step for you to do. Hope this helped.

My guess Soulless Flame doesn't even know what Audacity is.... and just trolls around making stupid comments!! The vid is great! Even I needed to try a few times for my confuzzled brain to hear what is being said and get it correct!! But it works great!!! ...depending on what the track is, but that's the science of it! As explained in the vid!!

How to increase background music after removing vocals from a song in audacity.
Watch my videos on the central channel extractor in Adobe Audition.
Nice video! Worked pretty well. What's the music track name you're using btw :)
Thanks a lot. It was very helpful.
Thanks for letting me know!
Doesn't work for me:(
Same.
This effect works based on canceling out vocals that are in the center of the track. It splits the stereo track and inverts the phase of one side, then makes it mono to cancel out everything in the center. If the vocals has any effects on it, such as reverb, it won't be possible to remove them. Also backup vocals can't be removed since they are typically panned left or right.
Doesn't work. Can still hear echos of the vocal.
Boom! You are a genius! Thanks for this great insight. Lovely presentation!
Thanks
very helpfull and in simple words.thanks man
