Such a simple DIY for the holidays! I love how you edited the video and how you incorporated your trial and error with it... so we also know what NOT to do.
your videos are very well made. Quick, easy and to the point with super clear instructions. The mistakes were a great addition (we learn more from mistakes sometimes) and I'm glad you didn't edit them out..I'm hooked!!
Am loving your vids! So informative, especially love the what-not-to-do's as well as the what-to-do's. Just had another thought for this project. you could melt down a red candle in a double boiler, add some peppermint essential oil to the melted wax and then using your method with the tape, paint the melted red wax onto the white candle...not sure how clean the lines would be but I would hazard a guess that if you waited until the wax had set enough to hold it's shape, but not long enough to dry fully, it should work ok. Thanks for your awesome ideas :D
WOW.....This Video is PERFECT for someone like me who doesn't feel confident to get busy candle making(altho I really want to!!) & still create a gorgeous Candy Cane pair of candles to sell or give as a gift!! BRAVO on the "do's" & "don't's"...are U an Arts Instructor? You have a lovely voice and excellent pace while showing us step by step!!( and I watch a zillion videos!!!) Thank You sooo much for sharing with us!! I definitely will subscribe to your channel & see what other treasures I find!! luv ya, Lynda A. xo
great DIY video, you showed everything, including mistakes and what to do if youre a perfectionist (no offense, im one too). im really excited to try this come this christmas season! thank you for the video.
I'm always impressed by the quality of your videos! I also really like how you show what NOT to do...it is really helpful. Most of us don't get it right the first time...xo
Thank you SOOO much this was great I made it for my mom cause she loves candles and she loved thank you so much for showing your mistakes because I would have used a sponge and it shows that every one makes mistakes:) luv this vid bye 💚💜💙💛💙💜💚❤️❤️
Hammy Sammy i said look AND SMELL like peppermint. you said they do. i said they don't because all she did was paint some candles she found at the store. make what you say clearer next time instead of "they do." because they DO LOOK like peppermint but they DONT SMELL like peppermint.
Most acrylic paints (and other plastics) will brown, then scorch, and then usually burn mostly with smoke (not usually flame)...the temps at which various plastics will do that however varies from a low of about 200 F to a high of 375 F (though length of heating at those temps matters too). ☺️✌️
sarah ngyuen you disabled replies but if she didn't cover all of the candle, the spaces in between the red paint would be uneven. You could do it with less tape but it would take a lot more effort and time.
I love how you showed the whole process including the mistakes as what not to do :)
I love how you actually show your trial and errors on camera! Makes it so much more personal.
Thanks for watching! :)
I love how you don't over complicate your diys and give us all the info!
I love that you show us the whole process, your mistakes and etc.! :)

'How to make pepermind stick candle: you just paint them.

I've been on a candle-making kick and this is really neat. I'm going to give it a try. Great job on a cool tutorial.

That's a really good idea! The peppermint oil would be so perfect. I might have to try that out next time.

i love how she showed her mistakes. Most DIYers make it seem like they did it once and it came out flawless ( sometimes they do)
so pretty i particularly liked the thick and thin striped one
Super helpful! I love how you show your mistakes.
you always give us the best tips for the diys, your videos are something to look forward to!

Hi! great video :) I just wanna know whether fabric paint will work?
I LOVE your channel!! Such creativity!
Thank you for this video! I love candle DIYs!
Thanks for showing your mistakes. It's good to see a diy project made by a real person instead of a polished TV magic video.
I'm always impressed by the quality of your videos! I also really like how you show what NOT to do...it is really helpful. Most of us don't get it right the first time...xo
Yep, everybody makes mistakes. No sense hiding them! Thanks for watching :)
Your video is great and I appreciate seeing the what not to dos.
nice idea. I like how you show ur mistakes and let us know what NOT to do...love it. TFS HUGS CINDY
Definitely doing this for my room, love it so much!!
Well done, love it!
Super cute! I'm a nail girl & when doing tape manis it's always best to remove tape while polish still wet so I bet that would work here too! :D
Beautiful thank you for sharing from Scotland 🏴
I assume you could add peppermint extract to the paint if you want the smell.
Beautiful work
Awesome job
Very creative
Thank you I love it how you do it
So cool! I just love your videos! Keep it!
Thanks for watching!
Very nice love it!
This is great! I love your videos.
Is it dafe to light up? Won't the paint be dangerous?
Yes, it is safe to burn. The wax and the acrylic paint will both melt down just like a normal candle.
I love the fact that you share your mistakes in order to teach how to do it.
so pretty idea!! :)
loved it!! happy holidays xx
Can I make this, without the DecoArt Paint Adhesion Medium?
She clearly said the paint wont stick to the candle without the adhesion medium
Thank you SOOO much this was great I made it for my mom cause she loves candles and she loved thank you so much for showing your mistakes because I would have used a sponge and it shows that every one makes mistakes:) luv this vid bye 💚💜💙💛💙💜💚❤️❤️
Why didn't you just skip every space & put tape there instead of wasting it putting it all over the candle?
Is this safe to burn? Isn't paint flammable?
You should have used Frog Tape instead of Scotch Painters Tape.
So cute!
Your voice is just.... Perfect!
Aww, thanks! :)
Sarah Nguyen, she said so she could have it as a guide to make the lines straight.
so the second time around, how long did you let it dry for before removing the tape?
About 10 minutes. Definitely don't wait much longer than 20 minutes.
Very cute DIY.
Thank you!
Wow! So cute
I LOOOVE CANDLE, hey look this! so cute! DIY: Christmas
Wouldn't it cooler if you made your own white candle and you could just do the candy cane patterns from there? Can I do that?
What type of camera do you use?? (ps I love the creative imagination you have!!!)
Thank you! I film with a Nikon D3100.
Thanks, I don't really have a camera so I now have an idea what I might get for my birthday)
** LOVED the video!!!!!!

thank you for showing what to do and what not to do~~!!!
Beautiful ❤️
omg this is so smart and cute! :D
I loved this video I think you should make you own mini notebook I like every thing mini

Those are so cute
Could you do a diy jewlery holder or stud earring holder?
Make up sponges are quite nice.
I wonder if it is toxic to burn with the paint on there???
For those who said they wanted the pepperminr smell you can just use a peppermint candle and paint it.
@simpleDIYs what kind of paint are you using??
Acrylic Martha Stewart craft paint.
Great job
Awesome!
Woooooooow like a big wooooooow subscribed and liked the video ur so cool
I love this tutorial but I thought it would show you how to make it smell like peppermint and look like it! :(

Hammy Sammy no they don't she already had candles. all she did was paint them...
Thant wasn't what i said. i meant they do look like peppermint. you said they didn't.

So.....,,I have peppermint sent at home. All you could do is ads that. Not a big deal. So it CAN smell and look like peppermint.
uhhh... isnt acrylic paint FLAMMABLE?
Most acrylic paints (and other plastics) will brown, then scorch, and then usually burn mostly with smoke (not usually flame)...the temps at which various plastics will do that however varies from a low of about 200 F to a high of 375 F (though length of heating at those temps matters too).

Exactly what i thought...

never EVER paint on candles!! if you want to do this, melt down coloured wax. I actually can't believe I just watched this
How do you know?????
GINA&MUMMY Might have something to do with me being an experienced candle maker. This is my business to know.
I wanted to do this for a craft project. Why isn't it good to paint on candle? Thanks in advance!
She could've added like a pepper ment oil based sent !!
They're not called peppermint sticks, they're called candy canes.
When they're shaped like a stick rather than a cane, they're called peppermint sticks. Thanks for watching!
i actually thought you were going to make it smell like peppermint, haha.
Guess my sister is getting for Christmas now? :-P
nice
I thought you were going to actually make the candles not just paint them :/
You could have remelted the candle and added peppermint scent to it
I'm reporting this video! She used a Foam Brush WITHOUT a handle! :-D. (Awesome vid!)
Their called candy canes
V nice
Safe*
You are still my idol ♡♥
