    Just changed a front bearing hub on one yesterday...surprisingly easy

      it was for this one ua-cam.com/users/shortslZEb9T1ygO
      Engine out at the minute, hopefully get away with bottom end shells, however there was a lot of shiny bits in the oil.

      I did the left one last year, which was straightforward apart from some very sticky bolts. This year I did the other side and everything was seized together - the knuckle, backing plate, and bearing. Fortunately, replacement parts not too expensive. Also a good time to replace control arms, drop shafts, and possibly tie rod ends. Fairly simple compared to the rear suspension, at least if you're doing it on the driveway.

    I have a 2013 petrol qashqai and When a mechanic says the drive shaft is totally fudged does he mean the whole front drive shaft or is it something totally different and is the prop shaft...I had cruching coming from front suspension the last month and got really bad this morning and all i could here was banging and the car was going really slow.

    • @rpsspain1966
      @rpsspain1966  Рік тому

      I can not answer for your mechanic, totally fudged is not a diagnosis, he needs to be more specific.

    Do you have to drain the gearbox oil when you changing it?

    • @rpsspain1966
      @rpsspain1966  10 місяців тому +2

      You will lose oil if you pull the shafts.

    Hiya mate, my qashqai's drive shaft bearing carrier snapped, do you know if you can buy the complete bearing and carrier seprate from the drive shaft or is this going to be a new drive shaft job. Tah

    • @rpsspain1966
      @rpsspain1966  Рік тому

      Bearing carrier is a separate part, not sure about the bearing though.

    Would you say this way is easier than removing the bottom ball joint? This seems easier, although removes more components. I'm "looking forward" to doing both drive shafts on my drive way in a near future, so I'm looking for the quickest and easiest way... 😅

    • @rpsspain1966
      @rpsspain1966  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. Yes, for me as you do not need to separate the ball joint.

    what whas the reason for the removal? i have a (Dutch) J11 too with a ramblin driveshaft on the right side when accelerating and when i drive up (about 1%) my lane it makes a "clongkin" sound could it be that bearing ?

    • @rpsspain1966
      @rpsspain1966  Рік тому +1

      The reason was vibration at speeds over 100 kph.
