I think this is the only episode in which Tim didn't yell at Gregg, sling insults, sabotage the show, or try to promote other ventures. His demeanour was actually quite pleasant. I give it 5 bags of popcorn, and throw in a prescription for Prozac.
good luck finding an episode where Tim didnt have to deal with Gregg's unprofessional antics, his snobbish elitism, or his complete lack of respect and insubordination for Tim who is the only reason Gregg "Turd"ington still has a pot to piss in
@@kingdavid3366 In this video, Gregg talked about how you're never going to have new movie stars unless you let lesser known actors cut their teeth on big films like Pacific Rim. Tim argued that nobody wants to see scifi movies where you don't know who any of the actors are, and Gregg rebutted saying that movie stars get old and you've gotta give new young actors a shot. I thought he made some great points. This kind of expert analysis is exactly what you expect when you're dealing with a film buff of Gregg's caliber.
Once again Gregg's cool, calm, collected and prescient knowledge of cinema shines through as he basically predicts the stellar rise of Idris Elba whilst chastising Tim for his curt and dismissive tone.
"Very interesting sci-fi movie for me, I give it 2 bags of popcorn because I thought it was not very interesting and I thought that Tom Cruise should have been in it." I thought Gregg was supposed to be the expert.
@@chocomilkfps1264 my point was that in the seven + years since the vid, I. Elba's star has risen -- indeed later that same year as PacRim he had what was arguably his breakthrough (and still unsurpassed) role as Mandela. and that fact makes the video all the more humorous in retrospect.
In this moment, Tim is euphoric. Not because of some phony movie buff's butter popcorn uniforms, but because he is enlightened by his own movie related intellect.
It was good tho how he argues Tom cruise was a big tv star so everyone knew him, and Charlie Day is pretty big, ItsAlwaysSunny is what everyone knows him by.
Ah, "Six Days, Seven Nights"; I remember renting that at Blockbuster just because it had Temuera Morrison in night, and I just thought he was the coolest in "Attack of the Clones". I also rented "Speed 2: Cruise Control" that weekend, lol
On Cinema At the Cinema is really the only film resource worth paying any attention to today. The expertise here is evidenced by their analysis of Grown Ups 2 and their unreserved praise for the film.
This is the quintessential On Cinema episode that really showcases both the host and the guest talents. Tim is nothing but the most gracious of hosts, displaying such eloquence and grace, in being willing to listen to Gregg's expertise and add 2 bags of popcorn to Pacific Rim's score, despite his very valid concern over no-name casting like Idris Elba (what kind of name is that, even?). But that's why you bring in a rotating panel of guests with the movie expertise, like Gregg, who really understand the nuts and bolts of the movie biz and are able to change hearts and minds. This episode is a definite 5 bagger.
These takes are so hot I have to take a breather. I just can't believe Tim didn't pop out the sixth bag of popcorn for Grown Ups 2! Not even an Oscar pick, wow.
I just found out about this wonderful product "gay" cigarettes. Im begging you to smoke smooth Gay Cigarettes if you possibly can, for the smoothest smoke possible
Well heck, this is actually some interesting reviews IMHO, and works really well as a serious movie review show...especially if I'm missing something with Tim's style of humor. I like this.
A very interesting sci-fi movie for me. I give it two bags of popcorn because I don't think it was very intetesting. Tim's train of thoughts is fascinating.
Tim being very tongue-in-cheek, and I love it. "An original movie? With a good story? And actors who were chosen for their merits as actors rather than their star recognition status? THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANT TO SEE." Pacific Rim is a really stellar movie with heart and a surprising amount of brains to it.
I love that Tim Heidecker is still bugging people out in 2013. People have no idea what they're watching. He's the most natural anti-comedian I've ever seen, a true genius.
I love how the core philosophy of this series is that all of Tim and Gregg’s opinions are a parody of what everyone hates about Hollywood. Things like “this movie was bad because it didn’t have any big stars in it”
gregg is truly a class act, willing to overlook tim ruining half of his backup movie collection during the oscars, us fans should get a campaign together to #startbidding and treat gregg to a surprise christmas present!

I think Tim needs TRT
yeh coming from the later episodes I was shocked to hear him agree to greggs points about pacific rim and reinstate 2 bags of popcorn
Pretty sure the Fedora has a numbing effect on Tim
"I'd feel strange showing this to a kid"
Lmfao
Saying that I’d feel great showing it to an adult
Why are people so sensitive about kids watching edgy humor?
I swear, adults really project their insecurities onto kids.
😂
Tim with the fedora is just too much.
Giving a new meaning to Tim's Kitchen TIPS.
That's a trilby, actually.
It really is. It's hilarious
He looks like everybody's band teacher since the beginning of time.
His head looks like a thumb
Very interesting sci-fi movie for me. I give it, uh, two bags of popcorn because I thought it was not very interesting....
It's amazing how Tim is always able to do those fake stutters. It's harder than you think to make it sound real and awkward.
It's hilarious how Gregg's opinions sway from stunningly accurate to completely ludicrous. Meanwhile Tim's opinions are always off the well.
Hey give Tim a break - he just had a tooma removed.
You mean with the running times of films? Yeah, his range is definitely inconsistent there.
@@kingdavid3366 glad to see another devout fan enjoying some vintage on cinema during these turbulent times
I can’t really think of a “stunningly accurate” review by Gregg. Example?

"Five bags of popcorn and maybe an empty bag to throw up into because it's kind of a gross out movie."
This felt like a genuinely good episode of On Cinema at The Cinema hosted by Tim Heidecker, had a lot of good chemistry between Tim and the guest
You clearly know nothing about the series or series in general.

this ep really displayed what i love about film criticism. great back and forths, opinions changed, etc.
“Anne Heche, Bit of eye candy for the guys…”
I haven’t been able to breathe for the past two minutes from laughing so hard.
Gotta have someone like Tom Cruise. Even Tom Hanks would have been good.
"Anne Heche, eye-candy for the guys."
I guess you can tell what movies Tim actually likes when he rates it so low.
"What size is this?"
"Its a one size fits all"
the genius of these two together is really something
sick fedora, tim
tim's classic showmanship of holding up a product next to his face and looking right at the camera never gets old.
Tim having the fedora over the ears. It's over the ears it's one of the more absurd things in modern anything.
