Gregg describing his Christmas dream about Santa Bilbo Baggins is one of the funniest moments of the show for me so far. Tim is struggling to not bust out laughing. Starts at 2:56
I'm a total Christmas-head and this episode was like that last present under the tree. Just when you thought all of the fun there was to be had for the season was had, a pleasant surprise was hiding behind the base of the tree. You brush the dried pine needles off the top, peel back the bow and unwrap that last parcel of joy. It's not unlike that feeling you get when you see the last bit of movie come on after the credits have finished rolling. I give this episode 5 bags of popcorn and...5 little sheep that you'd probably see hanging around at the nativity scene.
Absolutely. The "Victorville Film Archive" is a garbage dump of VHS tapes shoved into storage lockers.... but, umm, I guess it technically HAS movies.... albeit in an obsolete, inferior format.
Somewhere out there, there is a man/woman who is the literal real version of Gregg who still hasn't upgraded/doesn't see the point in newer digital formats and organizes a giant VHS collection, lol.
9:16 when tim looks into the camera and says,"got that for a pretty good price." Tim puts on his flexing face to let us viewers know that this blu ray player is indeed expensive and that he has the cash flow to purchase it, then gift it to his guest (Gregg Turkington). BRILLIANT.
They're incredible. The combination of Tim getting Gregg the most terrible present coupled with Gregg being so ungrateful; and then Gregg holds up a Walmart bag. I lost it.
+spoonfuloffructose nothing more disgusting than a woman who just farts and shits all the time and only talks about that, and how great she thinks it is that she is growing old. *YUK*
Bilb, I could use a little creative consulting on a project of mine. Can you share your experience and wisdom with me? Mike Zanetti refused to work with me after I called him a talking whale as a joke, he took it to heart and didnt think it was funny.
i love how madea does the spin. it was a winner spin movie with all the spinning and the screaming. it was such a good book adaptation with so much black spinning and larry the guy was such a funny man with the poop. i would give it a 5 baggins of pop corn because of the hobbit 2 coming out.
What a neat idea Greg had to promote Christmas, people often forget about it and what better way to remind us all, than with a tip of the hat to all the hobbit heads out there!
Sometimes I like going back and watching earlier episodes of On Cinema like this, where Tim and Gregg actually got along (mostly). Really warms the heart
You don't understand the system. Take your ignorance elsewhere. He gave it the maximum 5 bags. You can give up to 5 bags and then you can give an extra anything. In this case the anything was extra popcorn. He didn't exceed the maximum. You are not a cinema-head
When Greg just drops the bluray player 9:26 and tims subtle reaction hahah I don't know why, but I just love Christmas episodes. This might be one of the new favourites, thanks guys!
“And I would give it five bags of popcorn and maybe some blinders or something to stop you seeing or thinking about The Hobbit”. Gregg’s uncompromising persistence in promoting the Hobbit is the best motif of this series.
GOOFS: At 3'41", the "Christmas tree" in the background is revealed as a CGI element when it glitches out of frame, following the attempted onscreen rendering of too many bags of popcorn.
Going way back, you see that Tim was always on the cutting edge of technology: DVD, Blu-Ray, and he even catapulted the show into VR. Gregg, on the other hand... Dragging his heels the whole way.
I really love Tim's character on this. He seems so negative on all aspects of life but thats what makes it funny, because Tim is such a brilliant comedian/actor, he can even play the role of a very negative person and make it funny.
Gregg saying 'they' should use the popularity of Bilbo Baggins and the Hobbit to advertise 'Christmas in general' made me laugh so hard I had a coughing fit
Watching this after season 12 and the 9th Oscar Special, it’s hard to believe how far they’ve fallen. Even when this was made, they weren’t exactly buddies, but they were so much nicer to each other than they are now :(
Next time, please give Tim a card with sentences that make sense. Also, wow, the rare five-bagger from Tim. That's crazy. Must be a great movie. I'll give it five bags of popcorn based on Tim's review alone, I don't even need to watch the movie to know that it's a five bagger.
The moment the exchange gifts is the moment the last remnants of their friendship both as individuals and as professionals is completely shattered forever. Their egos are too big to even accept the thought of the gifts.
I like how this is the one time in the entire series Tim does something legitimately nice - giving Gregg a relatively expensive piece of tech and a bunch of movies so he can watch things in actual HD for once and expand he media he can consume, And Greggs response is “Does it have a VHS input?”
Hearing Tim struggle for a full couple of minutes through that simple sentence is one of my favourite On Cinema moments.
and then blaming the sentence.
I’m glad you think his heroic struggle through blood clots on the brain is funny.

The Jack Reacher Vs. Bond episode for example.
They gave Solo zero bags :(
Gregg describing his Christmas dream about Santa Bilbo Baggins is one of the funniest moments of the show for me so far. Tim is struggling to not bust out laughing. Starts at 2:56

@@mrwaltermathews he knows the payoff is hilarious hahahaha
Dumbest dream ever. No payoff, or rather the fact that the payoff is so absurd is the payoff. Just pure silliness.
I love the fact that Tim went out of his way to get him a very nice gift and Gregg is like "....thanks...where's the VHS input?"
And that Blu-Rays are not going to fit on his shelves designed for VHS.
