interesting debate going on here. Just like real movies there can be debate on this issue of quality of guests. I think Ayaka did great as my guest! I'm sure I'll have Gregg back on as a guest soon as well. Would be interesting to see who you think would be the "dream guest"
Jeebus, that Ayaka is not afraid to call 'em as she sees 'em. Average?!? A Tyler Perry movie no less. I look forward to her skewering more Hollywood icons in the future.
We feel confident that the new soda sound in the latest episode will quench your ears' soda-related desires. Thanks for your feedback/continued servitude.
Ayaka loses all credibility as a film buff when she says she doesn't care for popcorn. I hope we don't see her again on this show, which is supposed to be about expertise.
Maybe I'm alone here, but I would have loved to hear more about Ayaka and Tim making sushi. I think we are so use to viewing Tim as this film aficionado that we don't get to explore much of his other talents.
I have watched almost every movie you guys recommend and you haven't steered me wrong yet. Keep up the great reviews! Also Ayaka was a good guest but I feel like Gregg is more knowledgeable about the movies and has valuable insight in his movie reviews so try to have him on as a guest more often. The only ones I don't watch are the horror movies.
We all know they can't give every movie 5 bags of popcorn, but Ayaka really Rango'd this one with her low ratings, if Tim rated them as high as he did it must deserve at least 5 bags.
That was my assessment as well. However, I feel we need to give her a little slack. She was new to the show and format and they probably rate movies differently in Taiwan. Her insight may not be as strong as Gregg's, but she was a good stand-in for him while he was away.
Tim always gives the best insights and thoughtful quips because he is such a casual host. What a goof! 3 popcorn totes and a whole barrel of laughs. Love ya!
this.... is almost 10 years old at this point omfg. I used to work at a movie theater, I worked there for like 3 years and was obsessed with On Cinema cause I'd always know what movies were coming out and stuff and watching this after work was always the best. fucking insanity almost 10 years have gone by since then.........
Ayaka is very direct and honest about her opinion, which is a very unique quality for a film critic. I think we will be seeing more of her in possible future episodes.
I saw G.I. Joe: Retaliation yesterday and I've got to say, it's easily my front runner for film of the year, thanks for the excellent review Tim. I give it 6 popcorns and 4 boxes of junior mints.
They give a good review to everything just because they review only good movies. That's what a review show should be about -- reviewing good movies for you to see good in the theater. Also Tim is obviously just being extremely modest when he says it's a "satire" or whatever you want to call it, because I think we can all agree he's put together something special here. Kudos to Tim and Gregg.
I also vote on the rating sounds being louder and longer. I want to hear popcorn popping and exploding for each bag. Doesn't matter if the sounds overlap.
Huh. Well I can't say I'm wild about seeing that kind of stuff if that's what he also does, I just stumbled on this when looking for movie reviews of the new James Bond and loved what I saw. Informative like you said, simple and to the point -- 2 guys doing solid movie reviews. Great job guys, and 2 thumbs up to use another movie lingo slang review term!
“Yeah, I didn’t understand at all” Now I see why Ayaka thought such a good movie was only a four bagger! I probably would drop a bag if I couldn’t understand anything either
Oh wow, all these years I've been confusing Peter MacNicol for Jimmy McNichol, the child actor and Kristie McNichol's brother. It's like a new world paradigm has realigned in my head. Thanks Gregg!
#1 comment is "this is not a comedy show" Everybody but you knows this is a serious, informed and I think really useful show for finding out what your favorite movies are before they even become your favorites but you! I check every weekend, how about you? Have you even seen any of the films they put on here? I think you will find the ratings generally are pretty close to how good the movies are. They do a good job.
THANK YOU! Breath of fresh air here. I also liked Ayaka but Gregg really is the big asset to the show. dasheight has really been getting me down about this not being "real." The only thing that could probably make it better is if they could also go over what's hot on the net, entertainment news, sports ... just an all-around show for everything, just review it all, would be really fun and informative I think, especially if hosted live via podcast/web stream/UA-cam.
I suggest a sound effect for when the soda rating appears on the screen. The popcorn has a popping sound, and it would be more appealing and enjoyable for myself, and perhaps other views as well, to hear that sound of soda streaming into a cup when a cup of soda appears on the rating scale.
Sorry to break the lore but like Character wise I like the idea that Tim is realizing like, on a conscious level, “oh man, Aw this show isn’t going great without Gregg maybe I really do need him around” But on a deeper level we as the viewer know that It isn’t Gregg He doesn’t need Gregg The show is a catastrophe from the ground up and it can’t end in anything but disaster It’s literally dramatic irony
T.J. Miller would be a good guest for the Behind The Curtains segment. He didn't talk nearly long enough about his role in Yogi Bear at the MoMA panel discussion last month.
right at the end there, "wheres gregg?" Thats gotta hurt Tim, shown who's really in charge around here. Think Tim better lay down the law on gregg, he's getting a bit big for his boots
Dude - you misunderstood me. I was explaining to someone else that the show is intended as satire, DaDa humor, dry humor - meaning that it's not meant to be an actual film review show - it mocks the entire concept of film review shows. I think you thought I was saying it was bad? I love it. I was just explaining to someone that it's not meant to be taken as an actual review show. Understand?
4:21 "Over time they're going to eventually phase out to even smaller discs..." The future: What's a disk? Is that a cryptocurrency I use to pay for Hulu?
Dude - I said I LOVED it. Didn't you even read my comment? And Heidecker HIMSELF has said the entire show is a satire on review shows. Do you even KNOW who he is? What his humor is like? Have you even noticed the awkward pauses and moments? Have you ever SEEN Tim and Eric Awesome show? It's MAKING FUN of review shows, man. He's been interviewed about it HIMSELF and said what the show is, numerous times and talked about it onstage. Are you disagreeing with HIM? Are you kidding me? It's a GAG.
Someone who I'd really love to see as a guest on the show would be Gregg Turkington.
Ayaka was a great guest but time to inject some fresh blood into the show. Gregg is a perfect choice.
'yes, i... didn't understand at all.'
an excellent critic, and a breath of fresh air after 17 episodes of gregg's elitist views.
Lmao
@Stan Brule pretty rich for a guy with a jretpack to pretend to be an everyman, ya hunk
"Oh boy"

Sam Hyde? :P
You never should have allowed Gregg back on the show... he has ruined your life...but, as they say, hindsight is 20/20
Me!
Will Ferrell.
Someone funny like The Rock, Jack Black or Kevin Heart. If they are busy then anyone from the cast of Brooklyn 99, Chris Rock or Jim Carrey.
This is not Gregg Turkington. It's some imposter. I choose the guest. this has nothing to do with Gregg's availability.
Nick West “subtle.” Okayyy
@Nick West Don't choke man
@Nick West hey I think youd like to know they are now casting in the new jim carrey movie Kiss Ass!
@@nolancho carrey
Fuck you Tim
I love how he glances over at her when he talks about Asian director Jon Chu

That was legitimately a good interview with Jimmy McNichol
Ayaka loses all credibility as a film buff when she says she doesn't care for popcorn. I hope we don't see her again on this show, which is supposed to be about expertise.
Something Gregg has in ample abundance.
He appears to be like a mentor to her while she is here in America. Don't be so quick to judge.
This is where it all began...
Or ended, if you are talking about Tim's first marriage.
fun fact: ayaka was tims favorite wife
@@dark808bb8classic tim treating women as objects
Ayaka really is a breath of fresh air for the show. I would love to see an episode of Gregg and Ayaka.
It’s great to get Ayaka’s perspective. You can tell by the end she’s really feeling comfortable.
Gregg's segment was really good, Tim. He should be a bigger part of the show.
oh my gosh, you can hear the camera zooming in and out during BTC...classix
Maybe I'm alone here, but I would have loved to hear more about Ayaka and Tim making sushi. I think we are so use to viewing Tim as this film aficionado that we don't get to explore much of his other talents.
+Lowdown Loudon if you love tim so much why dont you just fucking get married to him already, jesus.
Tim definitely used Pissmans instead of wasabi
He seems like a great mentor to this young lady.
The Jimmy McNichol segment is one of the most underrated in the On Cinema canon
lol have you seen his website?
@@Wangholes What's on there ?

Ayaka is a much more well-rounded guest than Gregg
Gregg is not a guest!

I give this episode three sushi rolls and five awkward silences

Maxwell hanson one bag of popcorn, for this comment for not understanding the use of the word rango.
Im not a gregghead, but, the way he plays his role as "Gregg Turkington" is sublime. No one, and i mean no one, could do it better, or even come close
Am I the only one who thought Mr. McNichol was Glen Tennis at first glance?
Tim always gives the best insights and thoughtful quips because he is such a casual host. What a goof! 3 popcorn totes and a whole barrel of laughs. Love ya!
do you think Tim would watch a James Bond movie starring Tom Cruise or Bruce Willis?
Well when you have movies like Tom Cruise in them you can't lose, so in that situation I think he would watch it.
Definitely but he’d never tell Gregg in a million years
@@ericwisel4015 hey what about James Bond starring Dennis Quaid?

She finally gets a chance to admit she had no idea what was going on at all in the movie because there were no subtitles

If I could pick any dream guest, dead or alive, I'm going with the late Richard Dunn. Since that's not possible, I'm going with John Mayer.
Popcorn and junior mints together sounds amazing!
something about the sounds of the awkward silence, the JApanese woman's words and the popping sound of the tub corn is so funny
Great episode as always, Tim! Maybe consider promoting Akaya as a regular co-host?
God this one makes me actually in pain. Brilliant work.
I haven’t had fun at the movies in a long long time, and I’m so glad Tim shares that same mentality. It’s time
What a wonderful co host, really has what it takes. I'd love to see Greg on the show again though.
My favourite bit is Gregg's question at 5:05
