  • IS THE MOUNTUNE ROLL RESTRICTOR WORTH IT!
    Does the latest performance mod that I have installed on my Ford Focus RS MK3, the roll restrictor aka torque mount aka rear motor mount from Mountune, shake your bones from excess vibration and does it actually make any noticeable performance gain?
    This video will give you all the answers!
    The Mountune roll restrictor is a direct replacement of the stock part. The stock part is ok for stock applications and when not driving hard but beyond this it could do with improvement. The stock mount/restrictor uses a relatively small rubber bushing that is quite soft so absorbs maximum vibration but this has the undesired effect of allowing a lot of movement which is bad for performance.
    As torque and power are increased over standard, the Focus RS mount will struggle to absorb the forces involved, especially with aggressive driving, meaning wheel hop could be an issue - think launch control!
    This part is crying out for replacement if performance is what you are after!
    Engineered and manufactured from high strength aluminium with a quality and much larger polyurethane bushing from PowerFlex, the Mountune roll restrictor upgrade provides improved rigidity for less movement under load while being specifically engineered not to add too much NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness).
    I first deal with the thing people complain about most with the Mountune roll restrictor (and/or other brands' equivalents) - the issue of additional vibration. I do a test to visually show it as well as describe it.
    I then move on to talk about the general feel and the performance gains that I feel and do a launch control to really show just how good the Mountune roll restrictor is - shifting flat!
    I think this is a great mod that is relatively inexpensive and not too hard to install so is pretty much a no brainer!

    Great video Adam I noticed when I had this mount on my focus st it was most noticeable when I ran the AC the vibration ran through the dash but while the car was in motion it was not noticeable. Great mod even for a stock car IMO. Keep the videos coming excellent content.

    I find that when I am giving it some beans I will often mess up the gear change from 2nd to 3rd. Its as if it sometimes hits a little notch as I am shoving it in to 3rd and so when I bring the cluth up it's not quite gone into gear and I get a lovely crunch instead. Would the restrictor help with this you you think?

    When I had my Focus RS there was always a vibration at idle. Completely stock everything too.

    Have you carried out any 0 - 60 mph tests in your car. I would be interested to see what improvements are made with the upgrades and mapping. 😊.

    bro for the performance gains this is so worth it This is nothing compared to the CPE stage 2 mount. its a 2 piece, very solid roll restrictor.

    I use to drive big diesel trucks for work that vibrated so badly a soda would go flat before it was warm. I don't even think the RS vibrates at all.

    I think this applys to the 1.0t ecoboost fiesta also, were very unsure to get one, but think ill get it after i watch this.. the mount is basicly the same material for fiestas and focuses from mountune.

      I've just installed the poweflex rmm in my Fiesta 1.0 and the vibrations are pretty harsh. I have the street version as well. In neutral and first, the vibrations are loud! It improves from second gear on. No other mods. Do you have any suggestions?

    I personally found the moutnune mount to be to soft on the Fiesta ST as I still get wheel hop under hard acceleration. I started with the OEM mount and powerflex bushing which was great with a little NVH than the mountune one but never any wheel hop even in the rain. Mountune have just revised the mount again and are on their third revision.

      19marshall80 Hi, I was looking at the powerflex insert for my Focus ST250, would you say the NVH on using the insert was noticeable over the standard rubber mount?
      I had hoped it would give a benefit in rigidity but be less harsh than a full poly bush, and I have asked on a few FB pages, but you appear to be the only one I’ve found who has used one.

      @@GG-im1cb Hi, you will have a little NVH with powerflex bushers...it feels like the car is vibrating slightly in the cabin on idle though especially with the AC on as the engine will engage the pully which will cause more vibration from the mount. I found with using the OEM mount (ROLL RESTRICTOR) and buying the powerflex bushers separately you do eliminate the wheel hop under hard acceleration...I personally did not mind the vibration in the cabin it's just a case if that really bothers you?

      @@19marshall80 thanks I had an aftermarket roll restrictor on my Mk2 Focus ST (make unknown) and the NVH was really bad and I removed it, however I had hoped that this bush insert may not be as bad as it still uses the factory rubber bush as well 👍🏻

    My boomba one is crazy bad actually, like, when I get going, my entire dash is shaking. But idling and cruising isn't too bad at all, it's just getting off the line
