I've been in playing this opening as a Dutch/kings gambit player particularly the accepted version without all the theory, this is alot trickier then I knew, thanks
In the Nxe5 line after Qg6 White has the strong move f3 which is generally considered a refutation of the whole Black opening. Actually it is hard for Black to play this position. After Nxe5 Black has alternatives: Nc6, Bc5 or Qe7, which is called the Greco Variation
As a Latvian, i can confirm that this indeed is a gambit. Very tricky for black, not so scary for white. Extremely risky to play against 1500+. White can often completely refute it just by playing reasonable moves.
The correct move after 4:54 is actually Nd3 and after fxe4, white plays Nf4! And they castle before you get any attack. You should be teaching correct moves as well, and not only the common moves
I actually think the most problematic line for black is Nc4 followed by Nc3 but then you play f3 and black basically has to give up a pawn in the center or end up behind in development. So 5:42 play f3 instead for white.
Isn't a mainline of Mayet attack the Poisoned Pawn Variation? 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 f5 3. Bc4 fxe4 4. Nxe5 Qg5 5. d4 Qxg2 After the follow-up, both sides have chances but white should be better
The problem about b6 is that it isn't forcing enough and depends on the oponent set-up, so the oponent can play anything against it: e4+d4+2 knights and two bishops, e4+d4 and f4, four pawns, play passively, they can play a London, a Reti, a Catalan, f3 and long castle etc.
As a gambit, I can confirm this opening is very latvian
Latvians think this is very gambit

As a 450 elo player this was very helpful and I hopped right into a game after watching and won!

This is actually my favourite black gambit ever lmao

Only works if your oppnonent plays exactly the moves shown. If after Pawn to F5 your opponent plays Queen's Knight to C3 instead then you're buggered.
As a Lithuanian, this is a very simplified gambit than the nonexistent Lithuanian gambit, as all things Latvian are simplified Lithuanian things.
Can you maybe make a video on how to play the Latvian gambit super aggressive
How about the 1. e4, e5 2. Nf3, f5 3. e×f5, e4 4. Ne5 ?
Isn't a mainline of Mayet attack the Poisoned Pawn Variation?

if it's the latvian, how can it be no nonsense?

I'm tired of d4 mains
