the best review man thanks a lot!I have 3 questions 1.i read and see from samples that high iso capabilities suck 2.i work in studio with strobes at iso 100 and then edit,Is the 11 bit such a big deal?i mean when you hear it for sure is a big difference but.... 3.where did you get the strap? Is it comfortable? thanks a lot in advance
Finally I found the video that I was looking for!! Mark one question, how the Sony A7ii performs in low light? Is your Nikon perform better in low light? And where can I see some pictures of your Sony A7ii? I really want to see the image quality that it produce!! Thank you so much for your videos, they really help me!
Nice impressions summary. However for photography I was getting 6-700 shots out of one battery from an A7. I know that Pre-AF uses a LOT of battery (unless you are only using MF lenses of course or in general only MF'ing). That is the first thing I turn off in a Sony camera. Airplane mode will not make much of a difference suprisingly I believe. Don't use the high quality LCD mode and make less use of the EVF, as it uses more battery than the LCD.
Quick question, I noticed at 0:42 on the back of the box it say "4k", but when i go the sony website this camera doesn't record 4k? what's up with that?
A7 or A7ii is what I'm aiming for the 1st quarter of 2016. haha damn need to grind more. By the way, I'm more interested with that RB/ RZ in the background. haha
For the speed at which I needed to photograph, the Nikon D750 was a much better choice for me. The lenses were also cheaper for the same or similar quality on the Nikon. Sony has, however, begun to release some cheaper lenses but they have yet to produce something similar to Nikon's 85mm 1.8G which is the #1 lens I use.
No, I actually switched back to Nikon and am now shooting the D750. The autofocus was too much of a drawback. I shot 5 weddings with it and my numbers were pretty crazy. I was shooting average 5-6,000 images and getting 2-300 images final. With the Nikon I'm shooting 2-3,000 and getting average 6-800 useable final images. Mostly the issues with the Sony images were missed focus and too noisy to use in lowlight. The Nikon has none of those issues. All in all, the Sony is a great concept that they just weren't able to make properly. There's no weight savings for going mirrorless, my D750 is lighter than this with the 50mm. I plan to make a follow up video talking about all this.

I do a lot of ballet photos! just yersterday, I did like 500 shots, in one hour and a half, and my battery had at the end of the show like 45% power left. Yes, with the same camera!!! I dont know why people are so lazy with this battery matter.
I'm using the Nikon D750. It is overall better, surprisingly lighter, faster and more accurate focus, better low light, cheaper lenses, longer battery life, etc.
No. I sold the whole kit: 2x A7ii, grips, 8 batteries, 28mm f2 & 55 1.8. Went back to Nikon (D750, D600, 28mm, 50mm, 85mm, grips and batteries) and had money left over.
Noooo!!! The batteries are lithium. Do NOT run them empty. It will actually damage the battery. Never deep discharge a lithium battery. It was only ni-cads that had to be discharged to avoid a memory effect. Those are several generations out of date!
First off, they don't fully discharge, the battery is listed as empty when the voltage drops below the necessary operating voltage. Voltage on these batteries drops with the amperage. Second, most of the issues come when you store them at either 100% or 0%. Since they never drop to 0% unless they have power leaks or you store an empty battery in the camera for long periods of time. Third, I challenge you to shoot one of these cameras and not run the battery to empty. My average was between 2-300 shots before empty. That's hardly any! Once it hit empty after 120! It's a crapshoot. Fourth, and finally, I'm back to using Nikon which lets me shoot a whole wedding all day and leave one battery at about 50% at the end of the day. (2-3,000 images!)
This is a terrible review, it's more of a hands-on. I mean, you don't even know your camera, 4k?! 3 meg. EVF?! You do wonderful work, but you really need to think before recording such a review. You complain about battery life while using the A7II with Wi-fi, NFC, EVF, I.S, peaking, magnify and other features without adjusting your workflow, maintaining the same workflow you have with a DSLR that doesn't offer the same features. Try using your Nikon in Live view all the time and tell me how many shots you can get with it, you do mention the airplane mode but that's not even the full deal. And the evf is a 2.36M dot OLED viewfinder not a 3 meg. viewfinder (we wish! :) ). The LCD is also more detailed than most lcd's at 1,230,000 in a 3'' tilt display compared with Canon's 3.2" - 1,040,000 dots on the 5dMkIII. You can get over +800 shots with this camera, go to the Sony A7R facebook group to get help on this tool. You should customize your camera, the magnify you liked can be under your thumb in one button. Be careful with the cheap adapters it ruins image quality. Keep up the good work. Best wishes. facebook.com/groups/AlphaA7/
Nikon is a bad company I had Nikon d600 and they have bad customers service when my camera had a recall switch to canon now shooting 5d3 got a few issues on and canon jump on it right away best service but innovation is slow on canon side but not sure how Sony is with there products

What is the Battery life now that you have made all the adjustments to get more battery life out of it? (shutter count that is)
very good camera I like it
Nice video!!! Thanks!

The Digital Pixel they got me with that too. Fine print beneath says "stills". So you can set it to take 12mp stills instead of 24. Booo.
Hi nice vid! just wondering..where did you get the vintage strap?
Thank you!
Francis it's a Holdfast Gear Moneymaker.
Francis oh, actually I grabbed that one on the camera from an old Kodak camera. Sorry.
Mark French oh nice!! Thank you Mark! ;) nice touch!
Lol cool!
A7 or A7ii is what I'm aiming for the 1st quarter of 2016. haha damn need to grind more. By the way, I'm more interested with that RB/ RZ in the background. haha
I saw those too
i can use this camera and odyssey 7q+ for record 4k video?
No. Unfortunately the "4K" on the box is only "4K stills" no output. It's deceiving.
+Mark French ohhh crap! :(
thank you so much for response
hello, what strap are you using? Thanks.
Sirasit P Holdfast Gear Moneymaker. I have the regular and my wife has the thin.
What kind of battery grip are you using?
It's a Meike.
Why did you sale all the Sony cameras etc.?

Did you get the Batis 85mm ?
No, I actually switched back to Nikon and am now shooting the D750. The autofocus was too much of a drawback.

Did you end up changing to Sony?
I'm using the Nikon D750. It is overall better, surprisingly lighter, faster and more accurate focus, better low light, cheaper lenses, longer battery life, etc.
+Mark French ok. I was a Canon 5D Mark ii user then I switched to Sony. Thanks for fast reply.
It's easier to go from Canon to Sony because of the lens converters. I considered just getting a Fotodiox converter and the new Canon 50mm 1.8 STM.
+Mark French that's very true. There are a lot of Canon converters. The 50mm is very nice. You still have your Sony?
No. I sold the whole kit: 2x A7ii, grips, 8 batteries, 28mm f2 & 55 1.8. Went back to Nikon (D750, D600, 28mm, 50mm, 85mm, grips and batteries) and had money left over.
