Stanhope is the GOD! It sucks that his brand isn't appreciated in the grand stage scale. Attell sounds like a guy that if he went on tough crowd with his delivery Patrice would tear him apart.
itsnotatoober if Giraldo is so great then how come he's dead? Headberd was great. Hicks was a political force of nature. Giraldo was super funny and lost before his time. While I very much wish he was still around that doesn't elevate him to comedy God status. Dying young doesn't automatically afford that. Attell saw the path he was was on would lead him to an early grave so he stopped. He was smart about it. Only a select few like Farley get a pass because they were so crazy, so beyond control that they were never self aware to stop because they were too busy being uncontrollably funny they couldn't stop. I've seen Attell be serious, rarely, of course. But people like Farley could never stop being funny. They didn't know any other way to be.
You can tell Attel is at a different level than everyone including Stanhope in this video. He belongs with Patrice O’Neal, Dave Chappelle, and louie
i completely agree. stanhope gets the edge imo. as a matter of fact i posted a poll on fb last week asking who was better. stanhope won by 2 votes.
When you realize his best jokes... are basically everything he says on the episode... and when they are funnier than most comedians prepared material. Attell is so incredible.

Atell isn't just sharp, funny and quick witted, he positively rejoices when he finds something funny, especially if someone else says it. The happiness in his demeanour at the "if they can run the cafeteria in a museum" bit or when busting Provenza's balls over Stanhope's use of his name in a routine was palpable lol

Attell is truly amazing. I'm a comic and I've seen him a few times and he bombs so gracefully. Stanhope is my favorite comic, but he either gets mad or turns the crowd like a dickheaded witch hunter when he gets pushed. Attell accepts the comment and runs with it like they're a planted co-worker. I heard a guy scream out "F@&" and he said, "Dad, please be more supportive if you want to come to my shows. Last time, he asked for a picture after the show and tried shoving a dildo into my mouth. Luckily, my mom was too drunk to take the picture." We all fell out. He should never stop.
