how much money did it cost to make that ? its pretty long and about time people that are NOT hollywood start making movies and series to watch. Wanna see some real stories and something new and not boring ! Looks like its very much reality that it can be made happen !

Holy cow the minor movement of the characters is legit seamless to real life. With some tweaks to the environments and major motor movements I dont think I would be able to tell this from a real camera shooting real life. Insane work for a shortfilm, so happy to have watched this
I'm blown away with the fast paced world building, refreshing show-don't-tell approach, blend between suspense, humor, action with heart, plus all those complex perspective shifts... it just all worked and was so effectively pulled off. Score was top notch and characterful by the end. Story was blessedly unpredictable and engrossing. There's so much to like here. Beautiful work, amazing team.
This short film makes me hopeful that Unreal Engine will leapfrog its technology into something so immersive that I can't fathom what it will become years from now.
The same schematics and but different architecture unless you can define what do you mean by technology. Strength of a engine will forever be connected to hardware it runs on.
Unreal Engine + text/prompting to image AI's is the birth of virtual holodeck style like in Star Trek The Next Generation. (minus the energy to matter part.) We are witnessing the emergence of some very amazing tech.
Impressive. far better than some major budget movies. as an amputee I am also happy to see the prosthetic leg angle. Its easier to include with CGI, but its still hard to make look believable. :)
I am an amputee too and the way she stood up after the fall was spot on. The reliance on the other leg due to the lack of a calf muscle on the missing one - perfect.
This should be required study material for film makers. You’re immediately drawn into the story and invested in the outcome. Its original, organic, and incredibly technical in such a beautiful and thrilling way. I loved it!
That was an exceptionally well executed short. The soundstage was a pleasure to listen to and the graphics were apot on. Then the story... You know you've got a winner when you want to keep watching and want to know more. Well done to the entire team!
I’ve recently noticed the details in my dreams, when I don’t attend to them, look astonishingly like generative AI videos. Makes sense, not memories, but new thoughts without sensory input.
@@shortoftheweek I'm not speaking about the pre-animation process. I'm talking about the rigs they are using and judging by it being UE5, My guess is metahumans
Hot damn. I remember seeing some early shots of this short film a year or two ago and was impressed then. But the final product is truly something special.
This was really cool. I'd love to see more come from it. The only negative was that the POV shots really made it feel like a video game and not a short film.
I wanted to see a little more of the resolution between Daniel Lawrence Taylor and Genthin Anthony’s characters, and a touch more fleshing out around the narrative, but all-in-all it was a solid short film. Moving plot line, well-paced action beats, smart ‘camera’ work, beautiful visuals. I really enjoyed the end result, hope more people get to see the film.
That was stunning, captivating, heart wrenching, and everything a story should be! Loved the end. Pulled me out of my seat, wanting more! Now, please continue, ok!
EXCELLENT world-building. I can't wait for this to be a game or feature. Splendid chase sequences. Have always wanted a hoverboard so this hit home. Stevie already has an iconic Halloween fit, and can see people making their own bionic legs.
I don't know why Chad Muska was holding a sk8trGurl hostage, but it's hard to want to make sense of it all when I'm distracted with just how perfectly her hat stayed in place. It's an Unreal Miracle
What a beautiful piece of storytelling. Kudos ! You kept me entertained and wanting to know the whole way, thank you. The prosthetic had you guessing is the character real or not? Again well done. Scenery is imaginative and believable. The multi story layers are executed beautifully which is what is lacking in ALL the major studios work of late.
Wow 🤯 it totally exceeded all my expectations in the best possible way. We need to have this made into a full length feature film, it's bound to knock it out of the park, no doubt 👍
Wow. Wasn't expecting this to be this interesting and good.. Very original and well made, great story and great execution, great acting too, great transitions. A blockbuster quality all around,, Wow just wow..
This is absolutely incredible! This needs to be a full length feature film!! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish! How long did it take to make?!! You must make this into a full length film!!
I loved this. Some of the people movements were too video gamie but soo much was enjoyable. Reminded me of the final fantasy movie that went to theaters video gamie. ❤ 8 out of 10
That could actually be a pretty cool video game concept. You play the girl trying to navigate and escape the city on a hover board, while meeting people along the way who can help you.
UE 5 is getting into place where you get big production value tools with minimal effort. After playing Hellblade 2 I wouldn't be surpise if this type of quality will be a new standard.
Amazing CGI - the only bit that didn't look real to me was where Stevie fell during practice. Somehow the momentum when she hit the ground seemed wrong.
Lol that's the part that convinced me the whole thing is really CGI, the physics was completely off in that falling animation but overall its incredibly realistic looking character
This was _stunningly_ good! If this were the opening scene to a wide-city Cyberpunk 2077-style game (although developed properly without an artificially-compressed schedule resulting in, well, Cyberpunk 2077) that let players alternate between playing Stevie and the Window/Delivery Guy, it could be a AAA GotY.

The fact it was an original story alone makes it a standout in the current landscape of regurgitated redos and reboots. I would love to see more.

My thoughts exactlly! Much better written then I would :)

nah, its based on real story

I liked that the police jetpack is not just an abstract sci-fi, it is based on a real prototype from Gravity Industries.
And the hoverboard behaves pretty realistically too. Like how it needs to be close to surfaces and seemingly wouldn't work over water.
I can't imagine the amount of work involved! I'd love to see some behind the scenes.

It can generate a whole planet by 2030, inside is all human players somewhere, just like in the movie Ready Player One.
Yes, but what about the numerous fakes and digital propaganda that follows these technologies
Not only are the visuals impressive, it's great to see a creative storyline that hasn't been done before.

The uncanny valley has been bridged--these characters were not 100% realistic, but they were realistic enough to not be creepy-looking. Nice!

Certainly suggests that this may be the future of Science Fiction filmmaking. Excellent work on special effects and realism
Wow ❤ Someone needs to make this a feature film, so much potential.
Hear hear!!!
Didn’t think there was anything left of “original”, thought “its” energy was spent. But seeing this marvel … 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Really good shortie.
I like Alba Baptista ever since I saw her in Warrior Nun.
Onlly a small handful of places with jump movements gave away the fact that this was CGI. Quite impressive.
Breathless and speechless. Quite an achievement. Bravo.
That shot at 11:24 is insane.
They're meta humans right? It's crazy how detailed all this is
The Framestore team has been a bit playful about revealing too much, but as far as we can tell it's mocap with some composited facial performances?

Very good. Good to see there are people out there that realize the story (and conclusion) are just as important as the effects.

I can't believe we got to watch this for free, this is AMAZING!
I have to ask: Is the footage of Stevie from 2:22 to 3:06 actually CGI or did they use real footage? If it is CGI that's mindblowing.
I totally agree. It says a lot about how good it is that we have to ask if it is CG or real footage.
That was stunning, captivating, heart wrenching, and everything a story should be! Loved the end. Pulled me out of my seat, wanting more! Now, please continue, ok!
