We live in southeastern Illinois on a 41 acre homestead. We just finished building our log cabin in 2018. Now we are focused on trying to grow our own food and raise livestock. Follow us on our journey we continue to develop our homestead and farm, while becoming more self sufficient.

Love that easy catch, even a corn farmer like me can tell your cattle are well treated and well cared for.
Hi..... Evan and Rebecca thank you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
Man that duckweed just wont leave ya be! Thanks for a great video
I noticed that as well ... glad I wasn't the only one who noticed , good luck country view
I admire their perseverance and adaptability in handling the challenges of moving livestock, even when things don't go as planned. It takes patience and resilience to navigate such situations smoothly.
And I am Floating Village Life
You might want to get yourself a wide-brimmed hat to better protect your ears and neck from the sun
Keep out of the sun man. Skin cancer is no joke.
I’m about 25 miles north of Detroit. It just now stopped pouring. It’s been raining everyday for over a week and the forecast has rain coming for the next few days. I can ship you all the soggy earth you want.
About 18 miles south of Lansing and soggy is the right word. We also lost power a couple of days ago and went 10 hrs before it came back on. Did lose some refrigerated/frozen food, but luckily not a ton. Might need a boat soon.
You can send some of that rain to the east coast we sure could use it.
Great job with the Ducks and turkeys being moved. Hope the wild duck is adopted back by the rest of the wild ducks. It's looking great around there and going full time farm and rancher is doing you all some good. Stay safe and keep up the great videos and work around there. Fred.
Awesome progress , looks great !!!!! Prayers for the rain 🙏 Love you all and God bless ❤️
I see the duckweed has returned with a vengeance
110 today in Fort Mohave, enjoying your vids😊
Good afternoon Evan and Rebecca stay cool always great to see you...ps how are the dogs have not seen them in awhile God Bless!!
I laughed entireley too hard when that ram bucked you. We had a billy goat that bucked everyone. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
um, somebodies working at home...I bet it's nice not to have to shave every morning haha. would it be a good idea to have some sort of movable shade for the cows and steers? If they had something in the middle of the field they may stay closer to it and you could move them around the pasture. I don't know just a thought. Also maybe you could put an industrial fan in the end of the pole barn to get air circulating on those warm days. Once again another great video.
My wife & I just watched.... "I JUST GOT RAMMED BY MOE" ! about ten times in a row!
I'm not sure why it's funny, but I'm glad you are ok.
If you're like us, once into full blown summer mode it quickly becomes time to plan for Fall and Winter. Always thinking ahead is kinda fun! 👍👍👍
You just convinced me I do not want to have Ducks 👍
I need to get some of that poultry fencing for our Chickens to keep them off our porches
Thanks for sharing
You two surely work hard. Great to see all the animals. 💕🙏
I agree with the last comment. Its been years for me with just a ballcap on and i have had several cases of skin. Cancer on my face and head. Please start to wear a wide brimmed hat to cover more areas on your head. We are looking out for you health. You and rebecca need that protection. Love you videos.
Thank you. God bless you both.
I'm sorry but I had to come back and comment on this video. My husband and I got a kick out of Moe!! We rewatched it multiple times 😂 Love your videos! ❤
My husband and I love watching your video! !!
Just wanted to say I love your channel. I hope one day my farm channel will be as successful as yours. Keep up the great work buddy
Moving livestock, sure teaches you why we eat them!
Thanks for taking us along with you guys
Thx
Oh Evan!!! What I love most about your channel is that you show your "bloopers" LOL I was laughing my butt off when the ram gotcha - When Mia was in the shoot and you were pulling on the wrong rope to close it - and OMG when the young ducks KEPT getting out!! LMAO Please don't cut those scenes out we LOVE them!! hahahaha Take care.
We once had an old 30 acre farm that was the homestead of a large 200 acre dairy farm. My dad did what you were suggesting for pasture. There was a 7 or 10 acre field that was fenced off on the property. In mid-spring, dad would close the field off and let the hay grow. Once we cut and bailed the hay, the cows were let back in the rest of the year.
Awesome thanks for the video
Rebekah says work smarter, not harder!
And it seems to gradually get hotter 'n' hotter.
I've drilled clay and you will find the tip lasts but the drill gets thinner. 😁 I've had 6 inches of rain in the last 9 months.
This channel always gives me ideas of new things to add to my farm. Just added Turkeys this year!
Talk to a local farmer that has an old small grain bin. Two uses for it. Take off 6 panels for the tub side. Move the bin to your property first and make a gazebo out of the bin. The six sheets you removed will provide the air flow, entrance and provide light. Lots of people have them on UA-cam.
We love your videos! We miss seeing your 3 dogs. Where are they? We would love to see them! The ram was adorable,he didn’t want his cows hurt! God bless you and Rebekah.
Work never ends….nice that you are retired to have more time for all this work on the Homestead👍👍👍
You can have some of our rain and we will have some of your sun mate love to you and Rebecca xx
Very good video Evan & Wife K.
So stoked about the more frequent up loads and new line of work for you
Ha ha ha you really do have a chicken tractor.that was a really good idea using the drill.
More videos
No, it never ever does. :p Our poultry field is right out back from our house too. Gives me peace of mind. We just processed the boys from our first set of freedom rangers, girls are next week. And our second set of FR chicks come next week too. We had to keep our ducks and geese in the duck tractor for quite some time and even now at almost 3 months old when the flock gets a head of steam and a bunch of determination they will just mow down the electronetting so we have to keep them in a non-electrified netted area inside the electrified perimeter netting. Ducks herd mentality is good most of the time but man they can be rough on netting.
I can't believe your ground is so hard that you need a drill to make hole for fencing....
I hadn’t seen your squeeze shoot setup yet. That is awesome! Sure makes it easier to work cattle like you need to. I gave half my pasture to my son to put his home on so I have some fencing to do before I can get more cattle…
I started using the poly wire last year to keep deer out of my garden. Seems to be doing the trick. I had used motion sensitive sprinklers which worked well the first year, but the little buggers found the non-sprinkled spots last year so it was time to try a hot wire. So far so good here in year two.
Hopefully Ducky Lucky grows up to be a happy wild duck! 🦆
I am totally envious of you being able to farm/UA-cam full time. That is awesome.
You guys need a cool shower. It is very hot here in Ohio, too. That's hard work, but won't it taste good !! Take Care ! I LOVE YOU BOTH !! 🥰🥰
Well, looks like your getting a lot of projects done so far and there's always more to do, but your getting there. It looks like you're enjoying your new role, look more content, to me. Thanks for sharing, have a nice weekend, stay cool and I hope all of us in the bi-state area can get some rain, we sure need it!
Great work , looking good, I sure wish Rebekah would wear proper shoes / boots...one of these times...I hope not..Continued success.
Great idea to use the drill😍
YOU HAVE A SMART WIFE
Another interesting video Evan. Enjoy seeing Rebecca in your videos. Love you guys ❤❤
I hope you put Mo on his back to show him who is in charge.
Looks like you may want to start clipping wings. The turkey had quite a wing span already! :)
A couple of fans would be nice addition to your white barn. Maybe post mounted oscillating type? Would help to dry out the bedding pack, too.
You're going to have to move your grazing animals to a new paddock every 2 days if you hope to have anything close to a regenerative pasture. The first paddock is totally wiped out in 4 days.
WOW! You sure do have a "Bossy" pig this year. Now we know who runs the wallow =D
Evan and Rebecca, your videos are awesome. Keep it up. Love all the animals.
Oh no! It looks like the grass carp aren’t keeping the weeds off the pond.
Grass Carp only eat so much per day and they are small now, when they get a few years older they will get big and be able to eat a lot more.
Wow. Can’t believe how low they ate that pasture.
It is still so hot and humid 😅
Enjoyed. Thanks 🙂
Oh geez…I was so hoping for some name reveals but alas…nothing, or did I miss something in a previous vlog? The animals all seem to be happy including the wild duck who took his freedom back🤭. We have had nothing but rain here in the middle of the mitten. Can hardly get things done and more rain just blesses us with more humidity. I’ll pray for some rain for ya’ll so you can at least have a work break from the pounding sun. Evan…I am very happy you are on your full time homesteading journey but I do have a bit of concern for all my UA-camrs who have chosen this path due to all the uncertainty in our country right now BUT all the extra visits are nice!!!:):):)
Still am enjoying seeing Rebecca with her flip-flops. Wish my ankles didn't twist so easily so I could. Glad you finally got things situated, at least for now. Hope you got rain.
About 3 days ago we (Mid-Michigan) got several inches and 50-70 mph winds. Lost our power for 10 hours with temperatures in the 90's and high humidity levels as well. What an uncomfortable night. Thankfully at 3 am we got power back. Looking at NOAA radar , it looks like you'll hopefully get some rain this morning (6/23).
I wish I could send you some of the rain we're getting in Wisconsin. I hope you get rain soon!
I'll wish some rain your way. We got 4 inches last night and more on the way here in North Iowa.
wow well we finally got some rain so you might get some soon
The CIDR blocks ovulation. So that when you remove it, they ovulate on a schedule.
That was worth a replay...ramming by Moe.
Thx again
Great video guys
Just wanted to ask if those are Ariat work flip-flops Rebecca is wearing with steel toe toenail polish? 😂🤣
Roger LOL
Great Job!
hey guy when it is that hot take towel and wet it down and lay it around neck to keep you cool as work and drink lots of water
I didn't think you're supposed to let them graze that much in one field? It's going to take much longer for the field to recoup...?
My sister lives in Casey Illinois, she says it hot.
Moo was protecting his laddies lol
thx for sharing
Evan, can you strip graze the meadow,so the animals dont trample the grass??👏👏☘️🇮🇪🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hot and humid, but you’re getting tasks done. Great job. ✅❤️🐄🐮🐓🧑🌾👩🌾🍅
Looks like you have another bumper crop of duck weed on your pond! That’s some tough stuff to get rid of.
Great job keep up the great work love your videos thank you
Hello Evan Rebecca as allways enjoyed your video have a great day.
I see the duckweed in the background. I went back and looked at an old video of yours where you show an aerial view of your property. Apparently you have fertilizer runoff from you or your neighbor. The excess fertilizer will feed the duckweed. I think the only solution is at aerator. Good luck!
Oh man so funny ! 😮 I love this channel❤❤🎉🎉 its real 😂
I'd have put the fence muxh further out on the near side. Wouldn't put the house there, but it'd give them more land to dig around in and at the same time fertilise the often near dead land
8:22 YOU should put another gate panel in with the hinges in the corner so you can just close them together and it can store flush with the wall when not in use.
Love watching your videos. Rebecca, love your farm work footwear!
You may want to clip there wings before you put them in the pasture so they don't fly away
Enjoying your video. Have a great rest of your Friday and have an awesome weekend. Thank you.
Goodness, so many need rain. It's over a month since my area got some and I just checked the 10 day outlook and there is no rain in the forecast. We had such a wet spring I was hoping we weren't going to go to drought conditions again, but it sure looks like that is where we're headed again here in Oklahoma.
Lovely to see that you now have “time” to do things. How is it for you to actually start and finish thing without leaving to work, must be a strange experience!
Thanks for posting Guys
Hi guys!
Great to see you again and thank you for sharing your experience to us all mate. I’ve just noticed that your pond has green stuff on it again mate. That’s it was the pond in back ground???
Always better to stand in and lay in the feed. Adds a little extra something special!!! LOL
Follow the arc of your gate
Great job
You look happier now great job!!
Feeder steers : Manny , Moe and Jack.
The guys from the Pep Boys commercials
You have no idea how much I long for hot miserable days, we only get freezing miserable or freezing with 100 MPH wind miserable days.
And we have no idea where you are located either.
@@dwightl5863 unless you plan on sending some warm weather thru the mail I’m not sure why I would tell you where I am.
Thanks for sharing! Really appreciate you sharing! Love your channel!
A farmer with flip flops. LOL
We have a suscovich style chicken tractor too. Do you ever have to weigh it down or stake it? Twice last year the wind got under the tarp and sent it sailing. I caught it on our security camera on our Instagram if you wanna see, hahaha. When we do meat birds again I’m gonna have to find a way to secure it better.
We have never had our chicken tractor be moved by the wind. Maybe we're lucky.
🐏 👍🏽
You really need a DR trimmer! Great video as usual. Ya'll are definitely putting out more content.
