At the beginning of this video with the " shop sound" , I couldn't here anything and nearly left. Later, The "voice-over/narration" made this a Must Watch video ! Excellent skilled teacher here !
Yes best one I seen made on you tube . He could definitely win on one of those shows. Just sick af. Again thank you I'll look forward to seeing some more of your work
Instead of drilling and filling the antler to fit the tang you can boil the antler and push it into the tang it will both get the exact shape you need and the antler will act as a glue when it is hot
awesome job man! great looking knife. Very detailed and informative video as well. I just ordered a similar looking knife, can't wait to get it. Hopefully one day I will make my own knife as well.
Say, Ivan, you can boil an antler after a good 24 hour soak and it softens up and you can bend it straight . You clamp it in a vise or with clamps until it dries out. You don't have to use them bent. Keep it up
Very nice knife man. I just ran across ur channel. I definitely hit the sub looking forward to seeing more of ur wrk. I have always been a sucker for antler handles. Thats what i make 90% of my knives with lol. Awesome job!!!!
Beautiful blade sir, wish I could run up on some old steel like that. I'm using springs off newer Jeeps right now and it's ok but prefer the older stuff.
Excellent craftsmanship on that knife Ivan and thank you for keeping it simple and to the point. It is rare to see anyone making a knife handle from antler, at least in my life. Good snug fit on that handle too. I can appreciate this since this knife I own has an antler handle that rolls on it when in the hand but does not fall apart, still a good knife minus the fitting of that handle. Have you tried the proper way to forging out your bevels? Angling you blade upon your anvil and the angle of your hammer swing to the same angle of the bevel you desire to form? How is you elbow and wrist? Do you use you shoulder muscles to lift and swing your hammer to your work and not your wrist or for-arm?
Thank you for sharing. Good video showing ingenuity and excellent craftsmanship. I think it would make it easy for you to use a 2x72 grinder, just a comment.
I love the look of the knife, but could you have put a deerhoof on the very bottom ,just saying because I have never seen it don't before and I don't know if it can be done,I think it would be a great new look, what do you think?!?!
Haha, that was the intent! Wish we had a little more time and we would have.. though it was a Christmas gift and we had to get it done. On the next knife we make we will! We plan on making a lot more of them. We'll be doing some pocket knives, spring-loaded, and swords in the near future. :)
At 7:31 , angle grinder in one hand workpiece/knife in the other, I immediately expected the "Safety Police" pansies to start crying in the Comments😂... 😎👊👍! Nice work and Great video! Thanks ⚔🍻
