I watch this test run and Nick adjusted that carburetor almost as close as the EFI so it can be done old school for a lot less money just depends on what you want
@SoylentGamer The only upside is, flipping the emergency switch while rolling in gear, then flipping it back, to shoot flames. (Yeah, I know it's bad for the engine)
@JimmyCasket02 self learning systems are nice since some of us cave men still don't understand fuel table and other such things yet but we're learning.
@Cherokee93 really? Because I've ran them my whole life of 40 plus years and other than ones that have sat on a shelf I've not had one that didn't do what it's supposed to. I still daily drive carbed vehicles and the only thing I don't like is the ethanol fuel evaporates if left for days and you have yo let it pump up fuel.
I took my EFI off and went to carb. The engine sounds happier and the power is waaaaayy better. I can tune it on the spot. If you know how carbs work, you'll never want to use EFI on a race engine or classic car
I prefer carburetor and mechanical fuel pump it’s simple no headaches on the long run. My 77 el Camino with a 540 gives me 700 hp just like that no worries.
until you get a mechanical secondary with annular boosters....way better than down leg and dog legged booster...they are just a better carb and faster and will keep up with EFI no problem.
All the Dyno runs, I've seen the carb wins. Buy 10 to 15 horsepower every time I've seen it Done 3 different times carb, one every time !! In my opinion thats the only place the carb wins is wide open every where else the Fuel injection burns cleaner, run smoother at colder, starts.Even hot starts fuel injections better
Looking down the throats of each the EFI sure looks like bigger venturies. EFI SHOULD make more power in that case. I'm a carburetor fan so I feel cheated😠
The technology is better performance but if you want the old school feeling you have to have old school parts. Example late 70s olds 403 with a 4barrel quadro jet if you know you know that sound when the secondaries open up
I watched the full length episode this short was made from. Very interesting. You should add the final numbers of each setup at the end of the short though.
I watched the full episode too that this short version was made of sometimes I think when people bring him a build they built he's always asking what rpm you looking to get after he or they achieve it keeps asking want to see if it'll do better get them some more rpms as if he's trying wanting it to blow Nick is a super smart nice guy
@@ercost60 I wonder if the EFI gets rid of all this stupidness that carburetors cause and create. I would hope so. I absolutely love carburetors and have a quirky preference for old technology but this EFI thing seems to hold water most of the time.
@@girthquake9655 Hmm, let's see...worn /Leaking throttle shafts, accelerator pump that stops working, accelerator pump that boil the fuel out of the circuit, vapor locking/ hard hot starts..etc...etc. all of that nonsense went on with three different brand new Holley's which I sent them all back to Chinatown where they came from. I've been running a couple Edelbrock AVS2's and all of those problems have gone away for now so EFI is on the back burner.
Efi by my definition is injecting directly into the ports Not TBI or basically a carb where the jets were replaced with fuel injectors basically doing the same job with electronic control instead of mechanical means
Since i do not own the tools to tune a carb(S) i think i will try a 6 BBL EFI. Checked prices and they are about 200.00 up or down depending where you buy each one.
thats because the carb is down legged boosters. you put annular booster in it and bam! now its gonna look about the same and be quicker than down legged or straight legged booster carbs
im new to car stuff so correct me if im wrong. one above is the carburator right? whereas the one below is a fuel injection with throttle body on top? carburators and throttle body always confuse me.
Thats not a Holley Sniper running on the engine on the dyno as was shown in the box at the start. Did you run multiple efi units? Ill have to try to find the original vid.
old school carbs if you can keep em clean from soot and rust or carbon burn or plain old dust particles old carbs like the 4 barrel holly or the old Rochester carbs will make a engine purr like a kitten
That’s not really fuel injection. That’s a throttle body style. It’s same as carburetor just controlled by a computer. Fuel injection has single port into each cylinder. This is a lie.
do a tunnel ram with two 780 double pumpers on a 350 block 4 bolt mains 375 horse heads off a corvette with dome pistons or shave the heads thousands of a itch with roller rockers stainless steel crankshaft polished to specs
I would love to know the hp numbers.
@@michaelmays9292 cool. Thank you.

Carb usually gives 15 to 35 more horsepower that what everyone thinks is it
All the Dyno test runs the carb wins by ten to fifteen horsepower every time the carb is the winner every time
One of these starts without a fuss in the cold
That's what the choke is for
@chopperking007 that's basically the fuss😭
@@matthewhattia7091 Meanwhile the injected engine is making MORE power with denser air charges.
@SoylentGamer The only upside is, flipping the emergency switch while rolling in gear, then flipping it back, to shoot flames. (Yeah, I know it's bad for the engine)
The carb with the electric choke?
I'm a big fan of keeping it simple. Carburetor with mechanical fuel pump leaves so little to go wrong.
There’s really not much to go wrong with efi either
@JimmyCasket02 self learning systems are nice since some of us cave men still don't understand fuel table and other such things yet but we're learning.
Carbs get dirty really quick compared to efi rarely getting dirty

Agreed
Nick is top shelf material for sure 😊
"Let's put a six pack" hahah his Dodge devious spirit jumps out on the SBC.
Or in GM terms a tripower.
@Mika Tamminen yes GM called it that. First was the 348 tri power , then was made bigger by the 409 which was available with two 4 barrels carbs.
Carb for me regardless of the numbers.
Efi for the win... better throttle response, more tunability, better mpg, and better cold starts. Oh and more power at any throttle position. Lol
If yr a driver not stock point judging EFI and no warm period for engine to warm
Up. Turn key and go
EFI is more power on demand and 000 vapor lock up and more reliability if u do a lot of Sumer and high summer temperatures
False, if you know carbs and how to pick the right one, is out performs EFI. The Carb is an atomizer. You can't get better fuel air mixture than that.
until you get a mechanical secondary with annular boosters....way better than down leg and dog legged booster...they are just a better carb and faster and will keep up with EFI no problem.
EFI over carburetor, especially up here in the Rocky mountains
If you are miffed because there are no numbers, tough. We fans already know from watching the original video with Piss Cutter.
Nick said it simple ! Carb can be adjusted to do the same !
I love the top down view in the barrels! Watching the fuel flow!! Awesome!
On my stock 79 TA so wish EFI versify rottenchester with that stove pipe choke assy..
Anybody else…pls??
10-15 min warn up emparssing???
Old school meets new school!👍👍
The spray pattern on the EFI is mesmerizing
Isn’t it?

This was from a superb episode Nick's Garage'll get it fit for the road
Carb = coolest it - may seem! They don't design it!
Hence; under law - wouldn't know - any answer.
Oh you tease! We need numbers Nick!!
Watch the full video. It’s on our channel now.
Don't be like that 😢 sharing is caring😊
After watching run a engine rubbing on valve cover just bad workmanship very poor
Which one did better?
I watched the full length episode this short was made from. Very interesting. You should add the final numbers of each setup at the end of the short though.
That would be a bit of a spoiler for our own video, no?

425HP Carb, 434HP EFI
I'd love to know the numbers as I'm going to build an SBC and go with sniper.
Show the Dynos.... Carb for me everytime.
EFI only adds 9 HP

throw on an edlebrock and you wont need to worry about a crappy efi system. c:
Nick and the dyno, they are made for each other, way cool!!!
LOL so which one was better? or was this not the point of the video?
Cool
Dr. Nick, the King of the dyno.
Looks like the carburetor runs pretty lean.
Nick is right six pak!!!!
Why after a pull instantly shut off the engine let it idle to move the oil off hot surfaces
I would depend on the carb more to get me there
Where are the numbers Nick?
Let's do a 6 pack efi😂 that would be something different. Plenty of fuel
Witch made more power?
Check out the full episode and find out! 👍

Where are the dyno numbers for each set up?

No results included? Disappointment ensues.

Efi by my definition is injecting directly into the ports

Six pack indeed
I have learned something from your video. A carburetor is as good if not better then the EFI unit I just installed. Going back to my Carburetor.

So now for a daily driver, carb or EFI (Holley sniper?)
Where's the numbers?

cute, but numbers speak louder. we know they both work
numbers please.

I think the carb can always equal the EFI at a given temperature its when temp changes alot the EFI wins.
EFI isnt' that much of a winner over carbs at temperature changes (electric choke fixes that) but ALTITUDE changes
Why don't you ever use a velocity stack on the dyno?
And the results are secret, Nick? I saw,EFI got to redline and cut first but ...
Watch the full video for the results.
Looks like the efi uses more fuel.
I want to know which made more HP?
😁👽👍
NICK IS GREAT WHAT AUTOMOTIVE KNOWLEDGE. GENIUS.
Sounds Fantastic!!
Carbs are great just hate the cold starts
Nice
I have one question
What is the point if you don't see the results? It's always cool to watch!
Watch the show and find out.
No data??? Should show the numbers so we can see what is what???
Check out the full video on our channel.
EFI is neat but you can’t beat a 4150
Would this work on a 90s sportster
More better fuel atomization =more better
Nick
EFI 6-pack vs Carb 6-pack
He's a good guy. Knows his sh*t.
Well 🤔 what's the result?
What was the result?
Thumbs down....compare wiyh no numbers....

Which one won? Carb. or E.F.I.?

The 'EFI' added is no more than another type of carb - very poor efi.
I'll stick to my carburetor that way I don't have to worry about sensors and computers and all the other crap that you have to put on your engine
