I cannot remember if I ever commented on this video but this is my #1 recipe for squash casserole and my family always ask me to make it for holidays. It's just that delicious!! I will say, my family only grows the yellow squash, and I only use that during that season. It's just as heavenly!! The zucchini does make it pretty for Christmas. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe ❤❤❤
I'm 54, I remember my GREAT GRANDMOTHER making squash casserole like this. I thought every Southern household made this just out of family habit, lol. Glad to see it being brought to everyone here on YT. :) Hope it was delicious.
I stumbled upon this video looking for a new squash/zucchini receipe. My dear this dish gives me life. My teenager daughter who hates everything green, vegatables and such nearly licked her plate clean. I overlove you and have subscribed to your channel now. THANK YOU!!!!
Hi minecartMJD.....You heard the story of how I got this recipe. I still make it and love it to this day. I'm making it for Christmas dinner to go along with the ham my daughter is serving. I love this recipe, love it!!! I'm so glad you all do as well. Thank you for the sub and I hope you'll find many other recipes that please you. God Bless, Linda
This squash is delicious and my absolute favorite way to eat it. I brought it to our family Christmas dinner. I know your mom will love it if she likes squash!! TFW and commenting. God Bless, Linda
Hi Linda, I had to come back to fetch this video to re-share to my Pinterest account. My old one got taken down so I'm starting from scratch and didn't want to miss this recipe. I made it several times and loved it every time. Hoping you and Mr. Sam are well.
Hi Denise, thank you for such a lovely compliment! That means so much when you're trying to please so many people. Most of my recipes are tried and true and I don't video anything I won't or don't want to eat myself. Most of my subscribers never get back to me (a few do) to tell me if they enjoyed the recipe or not. I appreciate being trusted. I'm glad to be back and missed! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Excellent dish! I added shredded mozzarella in the middle then rest of the veggies then the panko.topping. Yum Yum! I love that Vidalia Chop Wizard! It is a real time saver for small jobs. HOWEVER I would not trade my 13 cup Kitchenaid food processor with the dicing attachment. Thanks for video.
Hi Allan, It's always good to hear from you. Congrats on your honorable mention! Give this squash a try. I know you'll enjoy it. Thanks, as always for watching and commenting!
Hello, I am making this dish as I write, the broth looked and tasted so good, I left it and put small shells in it and dad is gonna have it as a soup to begin our meal. I am accompanying this vegetable dish with a skirt steak and I will let you know how we enjoyed it. Oh and I didn’t have Pablo but I put some Italian style shredded cheese on top and it’s in the oven. Thank you again for another great dish. 😊
Hi Debbe....I could eat this every day and never get tired of it. It's the best casserole I've ever eaten and I know you'll enjoy it as well!! TFW God Bless, Linda
Hey Kim! Glad to be back. I'll be putting another pressure cooker recipe up today so be on alert for it. Thank you for taking the time to send me a message and watching.
I'm binge-watching squash casserole recipes tonight (because it's summer and the squash is comin' on fast!) and think that this recipe deserves to have a special place at our holiday table this Christmas. Do you think it would work ok to blanch and freeze the squash for this or should I just dehydrate and then re-hydrate some for it? How nice of your talented friend to share this recipe and how especially nice of you to go to the trouble to film it and share it! Thank you! Edit: and I have to say watching your video was just a lovely experience, you have a very pleasant way of teaching and making us viewers feel welcome in your kitchen.
Hi Molly, I would blanch and freeze as I have done this with no disappointment. My talented friend is just a country cook with no special training but she really hit the jackpot with this recipe. Thank you for the lovely compliments. It encourages me to keep making videos. This would be so worthy of any holiday table. You won't be disappointed. TFW and commenting. God Bless, Linda
Jess Wurd Hi Jess, it would take something absolutely awesome to replace this as my favorite squash recipe. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for taking the time to comment!!
***** I don't want you to think I am ruining the dish by wanting to add extras~ because I just made it last night and it was VERY VERY VERY Yummy, the family and I were discussing what little bits we could add to have fun with it. I have been getting MASSIVE squash from the neighbors home (community garden). Out of ALL the internet recipies YOURS was number one to try and If I could give you a blue ribbon for presentation, simplicity and the way you talked and just all around Perfect and that ANYONE can make!!!
Jess Wurd I think I'm blushing!! I have made this MANY times since this video and have never used the bread crumbs again. I just mix it all on the stove top, consider it done and it's still delicious. I can't imagine improving it. However, it's versatile and worth experimenting with. I'm SO glad I had dinner with my friend and her husband that day!! Thank you again for watching and commenting!
Sounds delicious, we will definitely make this, but we'll use crushed Ritz Crackers instead of the breadcrumbs. Last year, we planted and grew a variety of Italian heirloom zucchini called the Costata Romanesco, they say that it is the best flavored of the zucchinis and we believe it and we will use it in this recipe and oh yes, definitely using water chestnuts in it. We put water chestnuts in our fresh salads and stir fry, they are great. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe.
I'm having this tomorrow! I've stopped using a breadcrumb or any other topping, this recipe will stand on its own without it. I know you'll love it!! TFW God Bless, Linda
Hi Renee, it's nice to be missed! Thank you. I was getting worried about Sara and still am. It isn't like her to go this long without making a video, especially thru the holidays. I am praying everything is ok with her and hubby. Thank you for taking the time to comment!

Thank you Ohio67, I took a break but I'm so glad to be back with all of you. I missed you all too! I hope you'll try this. It will not disappoint. I promise! Thanks for commenting and watching.
Instead of sour cream try chive and onion cream cheese! I sprinkle a layer of Italian blend cheese then some cheddar and top with buttered and toasted crushed Ritz crackers!!! It’s beyond good!
new subscriber here! I found your videos looking for a different type of squash casserole than my norm. I've never had one quite like this. I'll be making this for supper this evening. It looks delicious! TFS :)
Hello Va and welcome to my channel! I could eat this casserole everyday it's so delicious. I hope you'll feel the same!! TFW and subbing! God Bless, Linda
Hi Troy, this is so delicious. I never would have thought to add peppers. I don't know if the flavor could get any better (just my humble opinion) I loved the squash with water chestnuts and don't want to mix too many flavors..again, just my opinion. TFW God Bless, Linda
This is such a nice video!! My favorite part is at the end when Sam got to judge the dish lol that is something I don't see in other videos so that was pretty cool. This is a THUMBS UP! Thankyou very much for sharing! I will now watch more videos from this channel.
AKA....I don't know, it was too big for the amount of squash I used. I would think a 6 quart would be large enough. Thanks for watching and commenting!! Linda

Hi Steve I don't like admitting this but tuna noodle casserole is something I've never liked. I don't have a recipe and I probably won't make it in the future. So sorry. God Bless, Linda P.S. Is there anything else you'd want to see me make?
Steve Janka. Hi - this is an easy tuna casserole with a lot of flavor: 1 - 2 cans chunk tuna in water 1 can Campbells' Cream of Mushroom soup 1 can sweet baby peas potato chips Pre-heat oven 350° Drain tuna, peas. Put these in casserole dish and mix with Cream of Mushroom soup. DO NOT ADD MILK. Mix everything together, until creamy. except the potato chips. CRUSH the potato chips with your hand and put on top of mixed ingredients. Bake until bubbly, chips get a bit brown (not much). Egg noodles can be added to this. BOIL and drain well the egg noodles. Add to tuna, peas, Cream of Mushroom soup, mix well. Crushed potato chips on top. Bake 15 mins. or until bubbly. Double ingredients for larger casserole. THIS IS GOOD.
I used panko to add a crunchier texture to the dish...that's what my friend used, I liked it, so I used it too. I have made this with no bread crumbs and still love this casserole. TFW God Bless, Linda

It's only 5 years after the video lmao.... but anyways I just came across this recipe and OH.... MY.... GOD!!!! It is delicious and I could easily eat the entire dish jus sayin... thank you sooooo much 😍
Oh yum! I love the mayonnaise and sour cream mix. Much say the water chestnuts idea is different but adds to the texture. Love it and glad to see you back. Have you been ok? You sound a Little out of breath
Hi Ange, I noticed on the playback I sounded breathless but at the time I was making this, I didn't "feel" it at all. I've had some congestion but I thought I was over it Must be I'm not totally over it. Did you have a good holiday? I hope you try this Ange, it's that good. When you do, add a little salt and pepper to the mayo and sour cream mixture, not much, just a little. Thank you for the concern and thank you for watching and commenting.
I'm more like your husband sounded, it tastes healthy (but it didn't sound like it was his favorite dish). After 1 bowl I added some cheese on top and put it under the broiler for a minute. It had more body to it and was a little richer. Also, next time I'll add more sour cream and mayo and put the cheese inside. Thanks for the startings of a descent side recipe.
This is delicious just as I gave the recipe but if you want to add cheese and more calories, that's your choice. I found it didn't need cheese or anything extra. Sam loves this squash. I don't know where you're getting he sounded as if he really didn't like it. That's totally false. Adding cheese makes it just like many other squash casseroles. This one is different. TFW God Bless, Linda
Yes squash boils to nothing and then you look in the pot saying where did the squash go. Love to make zucchini in oven into sticks and season it with a smigion of butter and seasoning and it's delicious.
Hi Michelle, This is a casserole and unlike most squash casseroles, it contains no cheese. The mayo and sour cream is part of this casserole and it's delicious. It's probably one of the very best squash casseroles I've ever tasted and that is why the mayo and sour cream are used. TFW God Bless, Linda

I put cheese nips that I crush on top instead of bread crumbs. They go good with the squash. Also I add I can of niblet corn in mine.
Will be making this in my air fryer 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

***** Thank you Sara, I've been waiting for you to post a new one. When? I miss seeing you and your videos!!

I used panko to add a crunchier texture to the dish...that's what my friend used, I liked it, so I used it too. I have made this with no bread crumbs and still love this casserole. TFW God Bless, Linda
