Have you ever wondered why soldiers would want to go over the wall first?! Yes, they were incredibly brave - but there's a BIG reason why soldiers would fight for the opportunity to be the first!
In ancient Rome, the first solider was that went over the wall, regardless of their position in the military, would receive something called the 'Corona Muralis' or the 'Mural Crown'.
This crown was sort of like winning the Medal of Honor today, except it came with lots of more perks! If a solider won this honor, they could potentially lift their entire family's social standing from where it currently lays. And not to mention, obtain wealth and fame!
