I think the story has a couple meanings. Be content with what you have and be mindful of what you take from others. The boy took so much from the tree without ever giving anything back. I think we should all be mindful of this on a personal and global level 😊 Great video btw, I really enjoyed this one. Happy holidays to you and your family ❤️
The book, to me, is about motherhood. A mom who gives her child everything she can, and is content that her child is happy, even when he takes a whole lot.
had to think about the meaning of the book for a moment. one time i heard someone say: “don’t worry about the future and all that, just do what you wanna do right now, because you never know what happens tomorrow, or in a week”. ever since I heard that I think I changed my way of thinking, it really stuck with me. maybe we just need to appreciate what we have already. or who we have in our lives.
The giving tree is such a sad book. It reminds me of the song washing machine heart by mitski. The tree doesn't really have much going for her and is always alone, so she lets the boy take advantage of what she does have, hoping that it'll make him stay, but it does the opposite. The boy has the mindset that there's always something better he can chase: money, relationships, houses, etc. but he doesn't realize that all those things can leave him just as they came, and its not guaranteed that they'll make him happy. That's why he always comes back when he has what he thinks he wants because he hopes that those new things will somehow fill the void. He goes back to the tree because he knows she'll help him out when he's sad and looking for something more. He doesn't really love her and isn't necessarily attached to her. He just sees her as a means to an end.
Thank you for the video! I really enjoyed the book part At first I wasn't that interested but in the end I got so involved in the story that I woke up I actually waited for the boy to realise that he was harming the tree. It seemed that in the end he came to the tree not to ask for something, but just to be near it. Yet it still felt like the tree gave him a part of itself and chose boy's comfort over itself I wish the boy realised he exploited the tree. I wanted to see him care for the tree, even if it was after some time. For example, he could have helped a new sprout, a descendant of that tree, to grow But the story is undoubtedly thought-provoking. Thank you so much for sharing it with us
dude, the smile that appeared on my face when you pulled out the giving tree. i used to love that story growing up!! whenever i would go to target with my mom, i would seek out that book and read it while walking. it always hit different than most other books, but still now i can never place why! i mean obviously its got some symbolism of relationships, but i feel like theres something deeper.. whatever it is it made me cry almost every time i read it, and it still does. one of my favorite books, thank you for reminding me of it :)
i actually really enjoyed the reading segment in this, that book really does have deep messaging that i totally glossed over as a child, i used to think it was just a story about getting old now i know it’s more than that.
I loved this video! The book brought back memories to when I was little; I think the overall theme of the book though is greed. The boy wanted more, and more, and the tree gave him all she could, and they still ended up in the same place in the end. Both tired, old, with little to give. This might be a different interpretation of the book than others but that is how I have always viewed it personally. No matter what material objects you obtain in your life, it doesn't truly matter in the grand scheme of life.
I think the theme of the book is just about loving someone so much that you give them your all, even if they don’t seem to appreciate it or reciprocate the same love, you love them anyways. because it’s not about equality or receiving the same treatment, it’s about loving unconditionally even if it means the outwardly expressed love for you isn’t shown as much as you give.
The tree gave everything it had to the boy without considering itself. Love is unconditional but it’s clear the boy had no love for the tree once he grew older because he did not return until he needed something again. He also just kept wanting more. He was happiest as a child and whenever he came back, he seemed more sad. We tend to complicate things and look forward to that next thing instead of appreciating what we have in the moment. Nature is such a gift and yet we claim ownership of it, take it’s apples, take it’s branches, and then it’s trunk, without leaving something for the next child to love and appreciate.
Happy holidays! I love how you always cheer other artists. You’re talented and kind, hope 2025 is filled with surprises and quality time with your special people~ 🎉
That book makes me think about the people I have in my life that I can always fall back on. It makes me appreciate them more, it was nice to get to experience it again through you, thanks :)
YES FINALLY KEYBOARD ASMR!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 this is definitely my favourite video of yours now- the whole video is just perfect!! edit: and she gets prettier in every upload how is that even possible 🫠
the book reminded me of situationships, you give them what they want to make them happy as they come and go. It makes you "happy" in the moment but it does takes a toll on you. Or. maybe its just abt a tree and a boy
The book was sad but that kind of introspective silence afterwards was strangely worse. Was like she had something in her head that the book made her think about and made her sad :(
I love this book, my mom red it to me as a child and I've held it in my heart as one of my favorites sense, also it makes me cry every dang time haha! As a child I thought of the tree as a mother or a parent figure who will give everything for their child and just their child being happy would make them happy, which is why i thought the tree was happy even though clearly she's not really happy cause shes no longer whole after giving everything she had to her boy. As I grew up and reread it I learned it can have many meanings, but i still like to think the over all theme is about giving everything to someone who doesn't appreciate it until its too late and you have nothing left to give. Also I noticed in the carvings one says ME + T which its obviously Me + Tree and the second one says ME + Y.L. this I believe is Me + Young Love which I think is a super cute detail and I wonder if it has any significance to the meaning the author originally intended.
It's cute how you apologize about the stomach but I don't hear nothing. Maybe I'm just able to auto tune into your voice only that's so relaxing in this asmr. Amazing video as usual ❤🔥
it's really cool that you've been given materials by brands to use in your videos and i think it's definitely ok to use them, but i would say you should probably avoid doing a whole long shoutout section. you basically just did a whole ad read for free. people usually get paid to do that kind of stuff! anyway, love the video, keep up the good work.
8:46 tbh i dunno which one was the odd one out… cause you kinda need the sun, and rain for flowers to exist- um i think the meaning of the book is about people pleasers, and that some would do anything for someone to stay even if it sacrafices their health, mentally. and physically i guess
It was a kinda sweet story, a little sad, but I think to teach children of the expectation that comes with growing old. I don't think it fully encompasses that, though, it just encompasses the sadder part of growing old and doesn't tell about the beauty there is in relying on and continuing to love God as you grow old and the joy there is in getting closer to passing away to be with Him. I like how it kind of mirrors the way that the Lord put all of the things on this Earth here to provide for us and for us to be good stewards of, and I like how it kind of shows how God will always provide for us and love us no matter what state we find ourselves in.
Waaaait a minute... those drawings in odd one out-- you drew those in another ASMR video! I remember being confused about why you were drawing a pencil after the cookie and ice cream but I forgot about it and fell asleep. Also the boy in The Giving Tree is just a selfish assclown.
i said flower bc it was the only one not in the sky, but you could also say the cloud as it’s the only one without colour, or you could say the rain as it’s the only multiple, or you could say the sun because it’s the only one not on earth ! the point of all of the questions is that there’s multiple answers !
Just because whoever is reading this is wonderful and precious, and might need this reminder like I did: God delights to show mercy (Micah 7:18). He has forgiven me for things I thought were too horrible and ugly to be forgiven. His kindness is meant to draw us to repentance (Rom 2:4). Turn to Him and repent! Reconciliation is what He sent His Son Jesus for (2 Cor 5:18-21)💕
