I'm like; "why would he leave Vasiliki? Its so beautiful!". Then ... " why would he leave that beautiful little cove?" And then "well Corfu looks very nice". Haha. Doing fine Sam.
I was on Corfu two times for a holllday and rented a small motor boat for a day and had the most beautiful day's at my life. So nice to anchor on beaches where only boats can come. I lived 12 years on the island Samos. and Corfu is for me the number two to live on in Greece
If you're using blue Loctite and it isn't working, maybe you should try the red. A stainless bolt in direct sunlight for hours may get hot enough to undo the blue. If that doesn't work, try the green stuff(Loctite 604). From there, you could always use a longer bolt and add a jam nut, or drill the bolt and safety wire or pin it. Good luck not falling in the fastener rabbit hole.
Don’t know if they make Castle Nuts in stainless but they do a fine job with the steering arms on cars - proven reliability on moving parts that take a beating 🤙
I went to Corfu back in the mid 90's early march to work on a US naval vessel that was in port there. I took my new bride and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was before the tourist season began and there was hardly anyone there. We ate Lamb Chops for dinner for $8 each. Would love to go back.
I recommend going to Pelekss if you’re still on Corfu. Great little village that used to have the best souvlaki place in Greece. Or at least it was there last time I was in Pelekas in 1996. I had some of the best times of my life there. Spent a couple months working at a bar cliff jumping at the beach near the village
Your first stopping point was Anti-Paxos I think? My ‘secret’ anchorage is just to port as you entered that bay. Incredible caves and (as you saw) crystal clear water.
No one sails Paradise like Sam. From the vast sea of sailing UA-camrs, emerges a luminary, a lighthouse-like beacon of inspiration that captivates hearts and minds alike. Absolute legend.
Sam in your last (I think) video you mentioned you'd like to see real seas, by sailing in the Southern oceans. I just finished reading Sir Francis Chichester's Gipsy Moth Circles The World and he writes " I sailed out of the Forties that evening. To be candid I think anyone who sails a yacht in the Forties is a fool-but I knew that before I started". It's a great read!
That sounds like the Tree of Hippocrates, on Kos. While backpacking in 1986, waiting for a ferry, I slept the night under it. I woke up to the sound of a zipper and yelled as a guy was about to piss on me by mistake. A close call.
Yeah, that water looks alittle better than that Titusville, FL, marina water. I'd like to think that part of sailing is taking in the natural beauty cuz you're going slower and its a "stop and smell the roses" kind of mentality. So, sailing in nasty water would seem to really take away from the experience. Nasty water might not be a consideration when you're blasting down the river at 60 mph.
@@samholmessailing awesome i always hear you talk about the speed and I'm never sure what's good so that's good to know. anyways keep up the awesome work, I'm loving the videos
I’m sure your new set of sails will prove excellent for heavy weather and ocean sailing but do you find them to have been made of a material a bit too heavy for the light Mediterranean winds that you seem to be experiencing a lot of the time ?
love this stuff... but i like Sam's homemade program music better than this flashy commercial sounding stuff. i like mostly when he sings what he sees, i.e., "this is a cool stair case... look at the size of this whateverrrrrrrr..." :🤣🤣
You should spend some time learning to catch, clean, and cook fish while you're on the ocean. Spam and ramen noodles might be fine, but you have free food right under your feet. And a lot of free time that could be used casting a line. Make that one arm Real strong! You can become a arm wrestling champ when you get back. 😂
Incredible drone footage Sam🤙 much love from the USA aboard SV Lady Penguin. And praise God for His incredible creation! "The heavens declare the glory of God, the universe shows His handiwork"
One of the advantages of going deaf is a hearing aid with Bluetooth. I have him right in my head, with stereo. Never miss a word, although the background noises are occasionally annoying!
After all your digestive tract issues, I'd think you'd have switched over, long before now, to mostly eating easier to digest raw fruit and raw fruit-like veggies with seeds (i.e. cucumbers and squash).

How wonderful the Mediterranean sea and cultures are! ❤
I've been to Corfu.
It was many years ago, I stepped on a sea urchin while I was there so I'll always remember it.
Me too. It hurt. And ruined my day, probably the urchins too.

If you have a long enough bolt , using a jamb nut would be a good fix.
Took me back to my day skipper's course last year. Anchored in the same spot beneath the castle prior to the night sail to Gouvia.
Thanks Sam! I'm enjoying your vids! happy holidaze and safe travels!
Segment & music beginning at 12:50 - "No matter where you go - there you are."
I’m not a reader but was gifted the Corfu Trilogy a few years ago. It was a solid read and makes me want to visit the place before too long.
Wow beautiful weather for December, the Greek islands would be exactly were I would head if I had a boat..English winter sucks 👍
Our man Sam fries the Spam in the pan whilst sailing in the Mediterrane- AN.
The drone shots were cool. You had paradise all to yourself.
In the early 80’s I was in the USAF San Vito AS near Brindisi. Took many ferry rides to Corfu. Some of the best times of my life.
Your drone footage had me dancing, Sammy!
Thanks!
I always have a great time following your adventure. Thanks Sam

A great video by Sam Holmes yet again
Nice drone shots, Nice video! Thanks for taking us aboard !
Really enjoyed the music in the corfu episode.
The water there looks a beautiful blue.
Hope you enjoyed Vass - had some great windsurfing hols there! Bring on Erik!
Your first stopping point was Anti-Paxos I think? My ‘secret’ anchorage is just to port as you entered that bay. Incredible caves and (as you saw) crystal clear water.
That ferry was loaded!! Wow
That water was amazing. just so beautiful. great video Sam, thanks for sharing it
Another great Greek island is Amorgos. When I was there last time the ferry only came twice a week so it was a very quiet place
Sam, thank you. Truly a dream shared.
Cool spaghetti western music!..Thanks Sam
My pleasure!
Beautiful anchorage. Wow!
Hey Captain..........Thanks for your content !
😊wowza that was fabulous thanks and that drone over the water and sailboat just great thanks Sam.. Greetings form SW Scotland UK

Great drone Music !!
Had my boom fall off on my southern cross 28 heading to Florida offshore I tighten it a hundred times before
We were in Korfu in mid Oct. did’t see Pickle though, maybe you were there earlier. Nice place, noce people, coffee’s too expensive. Sail on Sam!

There's another UA-camr who sails the Mediterranean and Croatia area and the water is amazingly clear ... so beautiful.
Great video Sam.
Sam, can you drill a hole in the bolt for a cotter pin, and use a castle nut like on an outboard prop shaft? Just an idea.
Very cool adventure , I hope one day I can do the same 🤙
i love Corfu :) i am visiting in September again .
Greetings from Germany
Good job with the music Sam. Takes us all away on another adventure.............
DOD on location in Palm Springs
I was looking at the same moon when you were.
Yes - that weather looked absolutely terrible . . .
Now will be know as “Spam Holmes Sailing” 😂👍🇨🇦
Spam and eggs, breakfast of champions. I alway felt Spam and eggs would have made a great Dr. Suess book title.
2:00 can you add a double nut?
There is always the flight assembly style using some locking wire too! Is that kosher for boats??
wow, pickle must have a very shallow draft! i was surprised how close you got to the shore.
4ft draft
It's funny, your short hair on your home page now looks so goofy it cracks me up! Pirates wear their hair long, argh! ⛵⛵⛵
The cherping sounds like little bats, hunting for insects :)
The bolt in the gooseneck, drill through the nut and bolt and stick in a cotter pin.
Oh wow! Isn't this the island with the legendary tree?? I've heard stories
That sounds like the Tree of Hippocrates, on Kos. While backpacking in 1986, waiting for a ferry, I slept the night under it. I woke up to the sound of a zipper and yelled as a guy was about to piss on me by mistake. A close call.
Excellent video.
It appears I've been presented the chance to acquire a 43 ft cutter rig.
Not a lot of sailing opportunities but If u ever make it up to Asheville you got beers on me the whole stay
Did you put an anchor out from the stern when you tied the bow to the shore?
Yes
👍
Sam are you using stainless Nyloc nuts? if so Nyloc nuts usually good for 2 0r 3 removals before they loose their tightness.
Spam eggs and rice. Available at every McDonald's in Hawaii for breakfast.
i think the chirping noises are probably bats
I agree it sounds like bats to me, once I woke up with one flying around my bedroom 💀 sounded just like that
Sam do you have a you tube on your solar, battery, hotwater systems. Thanks
Have you tried adding a second nut and tightening them against each other?
Yeah, that water looks alittle better than that Titusville, FL, marina water. I'd like to think that part of sailing is taking in the natural beauty cuz you're going slower and its a "stop and smell the roses" kind of mentality. So, sailing in nasty water would seem to really take away from the experience. Nasty water might not be a consideration when you're blasting down the river at 60 mph.
That chirping was unsettling.
The chirping sounds very similar to the bats in my area...
Hey Sam, I was wondering what is a good sailing speed? Also what's the fastest you've gone in the pickled herring?
Anything above 3,8 and I’m happy in this boat.
@@samholmessailing awesome i always hear you talk about the speed and I'm never sure what's good so that's good to know. anyways keep up the awesome work, I'm loving the videos

What navigation software is that? It looks easier than the one I’ve been using.
The strait between Paxos/Corfu is always lumpy
Can you set yhe autopilot so the correctional steering is less frequent?
Those were bats making that high pitch noise
870th LIKE, 7, 115th tag-along view...
Where can I get that drone?
love this stuff... but i like Sam's homemade program music better than this flashy commercial sounding stuff. i like mostly when he sings what he sees, i.e., "this is a cool stair case... look at the size of this whateverrrrrrrr..." :🤣🤣
Excess vibration - effect of motor mount degradation?
Funny I’m sad for when you don’t make videos anymore 😢
waves hitting the cliffs?
Lock washer ✌️
Hello! Who did you rent the sailboat from and at what cost?
Craigslist $9000
Lol
Sweeet!
High pitched chirp sounded like bats to me.

Thank you Jesus, Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: For praise is comely for the upright. ❤
noise is bats man!
Chirping sounded like bats
I thought you'd be back with your girl by now. : )
Nicer.
Drill a hole threw the bolt, and nut. Then use stainless steel tie wire through both the nut, and bolt. Problem solved…
🦇
Ithaca no paxos
I hear bats
Out of the heads.
Yours sails flap a little too much to keep the nut from fracturing the lock tight.
It's good to not care.Haircut if it looks better you know ?
Sam sailling boats name and ais run ok I'm live check india.
Don't show too much that Greece is beautiful. There are already too many tourist there.
Sam. I love your visuals, but I only catch a fraction of what you say. You're a classic mumbler. The audio is important as well don't ya know.
One of the advantages of going deaf is a hearing aid with Bluetooth. I have him right in my head, with stereo. Never miss a word, although the background noises are occasionally annoying!
Too many ads! Usually 2 at a time. Not sure who decides ad structure but I am tiring of it.

Please buy new sunglasses. They are so wonky
